One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I bought a brand new 2025 Maverick and in the end the dealer I was working with, Sam Mash, told me he wouldn't sell me the car I had signed a purchase agreement and paid a deposit on. He actually threatened to kick me to the curb with no vehicle and no way to get home saying finding a ride for me would be "more time and money and you're not worth it" and asking "why would I do that?" I was speechless and felt unsafe in the dealership. His supervisor did eventually apologize for Sam's behavior, but I was left wondering if this was some extreme version of good cop/bad cop? Bought 3 vehicles from this dealership last vehicle I bought June 26 2025 had a horrible experience. I bought a 2025 Corolla FX, 2 days later it was towed from my house mice or some other rodent consumed the engine wires to the tune of 4, 000.00 dollars. I contacted the owner who I bought other vehicles from. She stated that it didn't happen at the dealership.i had 2 other mechanics look at the damage they said it was done over time which I assume it started a the dealership. DO NOT BRING YOUR DAUGHTERS TO BUY THEIR FIRST CAR AT BILL DUBE TOYOTA IN DOVER unless you want them to learn a life lesson about the integrity of automobile dealers. This dealership sold my daughter a certified used 2024 Toyota Corolla with 2000 miles on it, her first car after graduating from college. She thought it was a NEW car until late in the process, though she is the first owner and it had never been registered before. LONG STORY SHORT, two weeks after driving the car off the lot, after putting about 150 miles on it, she discovered a slash in the left front left tire sidewall (from all appearances a manufacturing defect) so I called the dealer to ask for a new one. The sales manager, Michael Somebody, IMMEDIATELY told me that it was impossible that the vehicle left the dealership with the slash in the sidewall because it was carefully inspected, but the slash was not easy to see, and in fact, I couldn't find it myself the first time I looked for it. I asked him if I could text a photo of the tire and he said, without missing a beat, "It won't make a difference. You've had the car for two weeks, and it was a 'certified used' car, so there's nothing we can do." I object to the gross unwillingness on the part of the dealer to JUST LISTEN, OR LOOK at an image of the tire damage. It seemed, from the conversation with the sales manager, that he has been in this situation many times before, because the canned response just rolled off his tongue. This also speaks to the thoroughness of Bill Dube's inspection process. AND, it speaks, apparently, to the BILL DUBE company culture, and the kind of sales personnel they employ. Maybe you have to be a car salesman to think that taking advantage of a young woman buying her first car is fair. Today when I went in to put my deposit down I was told that they were going to charge me an extra 15k over msrp. I was told they were doing me a favor since I had been waiting so long and not charging me an extra 20k. I was told numerous times that it would be msrp minus my first responder rebate. After having yelp for years, this is the first review I have been compelled to write following such a questionable experience while doing business with Bill Dube Toyota. I'm disappointed it had to be a negative review. I will just skip to the worst part and keep it short. I took my truck in to be serviced by Bill Dube because the A/C made a loud noise while in use (This issue actually began after the first time they worked on the A/C. It did not happen before that). Their diagnosis was the A/C compressor needed to be replaced, which they did not say the first time they worked on it. The service rep quoted me $1,200-$1,400 to get the compressor replaced and it wouldn't be toyota brand. He also said it was NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. Needless to say that was my last straw with them and I never returned and never will. I have only heard bad things about this dealership from people I know and now I can confirm. Fast forward to yesterday I brought my truck to a local Toyota dealership in San Diego with the same complaint about the A/C making noise. They called me back and said the A/C compressor needs to be replaced and IT IS ALL COVERED BY WARRANTY. I never mentioned my experience at Bill Dube to this new dealership. I'll preface this review by saying I was a technician of over 7 years. I highly do not recommend going here for sales at least, not sure about service because I never got that far with them. Had to greatly negotiate with Josh for $12 touch up paint which is generally a courtesy at a legitimate dealership but was felt like I was being coerced into coming in for service in exchange for said touch up paint.. I was lied to about touch up paint: I was told many times it was ordered and it wasn't in yet, what they don't know is I called the parts department and they had one in stock the entire time. Was lied to about my trade in at point of sale and afterwards, and he knew I knew the second time.. terrible manners and communication. They don't care about you after you've signed, terrible experience. After chatting with someone from their customer relations team after I left my Google review: They decided it was my fault, told me that I had buyers remorse, which is only true because of the dealership I chose (all said and done I love my truck, just not the treatment or people). They told me that since no one threatened or forced me to sign anything that it's my fault for believing them... apparently their sales tactic is just ok with them to lie and get away with it as long as they don't force you to sign? First thing is, I love my car and they made this possible. That being said... the road getting there was arduous and this dealership is the epitome of the blind leading the blind. I left the dealer with my title. They had to call multiple times for an insurance binder WEEKS after I left. The sales agent actually said in a voicemail that I have "I really, really need that insurance binder because I can't get paid until I get it.". Even if that is true... don't say it. And I had sent one EVERY time they asked. They called MONTHS later to ask me questions about my old car I traded in. They called 2 months later asking for the spare keys to my old car, which.. Replaced hardware after loose cover scraped the street and had to replace all hardware myself and then the next time they did it again ! My parents' Lexus fob broke, so my dad brought it to Bill Dube Toyota to see if they could help. Without even checking the VIN number, they told him they couldn't help him. The next day, my mom went to Toyota of Portsmouth, and guess what? They checked the VIN number and determined that they could order the new parts needed - saving my parents a trip to Portland or Boston! Thank you TOYOTA OF PORTSMOUTH!!!! We have used Bill Dube Ford for servicing this year as well, and it takes FOREVER for them to repair anything. My parents needed something to do with the steering repaired and the service people didn't even test drive it after repairing to make sure the issue was resolved! When my parents picked it up, they noticed it before the drove out of the parking lot, but they couldn't leave the car there because the shop was already closed meaning several extra, unnecessary trips! We have leased a total of 3 vehicles through Bill Dube over the last 5 years and at first had nothing but good experiences. My husband & I had both never leased prior to working with Brian at Bill Dube and the whole staff eased us through the process. While we appreciated the guidance throughout the first 2 leases we definitely felt like a little more of an afterthought when going for our 3rd vehicle. Our credit situation had changed slightly and while the folks at BD did pull some strings to get us into a vehicle that day it wasn't what we really felt we needed for our lifestyle; it also was very apparent that the big wigs @ Toyota did not really like the current financial "situation" as it had changed since the first lease. After 5 months with our newest lease we realized we needed a larger vehicle such as a truck or SUV. We wanted to stay loyal to BD and contacted them regarding our interest in ending a lease early. We tried to do most of the leg work ahead of time with our past salesperson, Brian. At first he was super responsive to text messages and emails, trying to get a grasp of our budgetary & vehicle needs. This was much-appreciated as we hate spending hours at dealerships. We went into the dealership a few days later with the impression we would be leaving with a used truck. Brian said that he had a truck that would work perfectly for us and had it right out front for us to drive as soon as we arrived. Needless to say, we fell in love! We started filling out papers right away, but were told that due to the our credit situation we would need to wait a little longer to hear from the bank. We were all but assured that as a loyal Toyota customer we would be fine (most likely would have a higher interest rate or monthly payment). We had to leave the dealership as my husband had to work (45 minutes away) but Brian said to come back within an hour and a half to sign paperwork. We drove all the way back home and then I returned to Dover within the allotted time frame when I received a text stating that we "needed more time". I asked how long as I was already back in town; I was given a vague response indicating another hour would be substantial. I sat in a parking lot awaiting a message from Brian when I never received one. 2 hours later I got a call from the manager at BD who said we would not be able to get the truck & that maybe an SUV would work. He told me that he would do anything in his power to ensure we got into a vehicle and to wait to hear back. He called again with another lead and suddenly needed to "call us back in a few minutes". After waiting 30 more minutes with no call I drove back home. I never heard back from Brian (over 2 weeks later) or the manager. We did get a call from Lisa, who said she hoped they could help us out in a few months when our situation improves. After giving BD and Brian our business for several years we will NOT return to them after our outstanding leases are up. The false hope, empty promises & time spent left hanging (WEEKS) was so unprofessional, especially to valued customers. I hope they understand how misleading and distrustful this was & begin to return phone calls or follow up with customers that have given them business for years. read more

Worst experience at a car dealership in 20 years of buying cars. Blatantly predatory and discriminatory sales practices - avoid at all costs! Full story: I spent some time contacting a number of dealerships to find a specific model and trim for my elderly parents, who needed a base model due to living on a fixed budget. We found that Bill Dube had one incoming soon, and we put a deposit down on it, with the promise from sales manager Anne that we would get a fair price for our trade that would be "in the range" of the KBB estimate (KBB trade-in value for our trade was $21k to $23k). Our new car arrived, and we drove the 90 minutes from our home in MA to pick it up. Once we got there and handed in our trade for a final valuation. Our salesman Darryl came back with an offer of $18500 for the car. I told him that we knew the car would be at least $25k on his lot, and we expected the trade value to be close to $22k, and asked why he was offering so little. He explained that he indeed expected to put the car on the lot for close to $26k, but he was only going to give us $18500. He explained that he thought it needed some work (brakes and tires). Then, he explained that if we didn't trade it to him, we would have two problems. First, if we left the lot without the trade-in, we would pay MA taxes on the full price of the new car, rather than the difference between the purchase and the trade. So he was reducing the amount he was offering for the trade by that amount. Second, we didn't have a new set of plates, and he was willing to bet that my elderly parents and I were not going to be willing to drive a 3-hour round trip to pick up the car. So given those, he was going to offer us a value that reflected our situation. It seems that he discounted $2000 from the value of the car. The work the car needed was no more than $1500, and the fair trade-in value of the car was $22k. At this point, we had already put down a deposit, so we had no choice but it accept their offer. This was a simply astounding experience. The coldly calculated explanation of how they were stealing money from my parents, who are struggling to make ends meet as retirees in today's economy was simply mind-blowing. It didn't feel like anyone in the entire place had an ounce of human emotion. read more

I went to test drive a 2021 Jetta GLI they had in stock. Immediately I noticed the rotors were badly rusted and pad were at end points. I did test drive the car and it drove perfect with exception of the brakes. The car would shake and vibrate once you touch the brakes. I said test drive was great other the brakes. I showed the brakes to salesman and he began to tell me about there 156 point inspection and that they put a valid inspection sticker on the car. I told him I didn't car what his paperwork says all you need is eye to look at car and see brakes are done or test drive it. He told me the would see if they would replace brakes I order to make deal. Ignored me for a couple days and then said they forgot they already took payment on the car and it's sold. It's important to note that today the car is still for sale on there lot and website with the. Rusty brakes. If you want lots of emails, text msgs, and phone calls to get you in, but higher than posted prices and snubs from the sales manager when you're at the dealership, feel free to do business at BD. I just know that I'll never go there again. I do have to say, BD was very responsive, almost overly so, to my inquiries about a particular Highlander that I was interested in. When I arrived with my just detailed car to trade, after driving for over an hour, the Highlander was sitting out front. Unfortunately, I noticed right away that the sticker price was more than $2K over the price that I had seen on their web site. That didn't start things out very well. Why did I bother to drive all the way to see the car? I could get a better price much closer to home. I pointed out the discrepancy to the sales person who made some very vague comments about additional costs, but they could be adjusted. We started negotiating, but when a sales manager came out with their finance paperwork, the MSRP was still the sticker price, not the web price as I pointed out to them. And, for some odd reason, they wouldn't let me have the paper with the numbers. They said it was theirs, and I couldn't have it. What's with that? I had finance paperwork in hand from two other Toyota dealerships already. They went back and rewrote the finance paper, so now the MSRP was only slightly over the web price. Then, I said that I was not happy with the trade value they had assigned. It was the rock bottom of the values that I'd seen on KBB. When I stated what I wanted, without any discussion or counter offer, the sales manager turned his back on me and said "We're done here." I totally agreed, and walked out. But, first thing the next morning, the salesman called. I didn't have anything to say to him and told him so. Shortly, I get an email: "You were not giving me a chance to help you because every time you I tried to say something, you cut me off and talked over me, which is not a respectful way to have a conversation. Anyway, if you decide to proceed with purchasing a vehicle after you have educated yourself with the market, I will get someone else to help you." Nice way to treat a customer after the sales manager says "We're done here" and walks away. So, finally, I thought I was done with BD, but two weeks later the same sales man emails again to see if I'm still in the market, which I'm not. This was an unpleasant experience dealing with the sales team at BD, and I do not recommend this business. read more

Fraudulent statement made via two text messages to myself stating crack in my serpentine belt. Later informed the belt was never cracked. I went to the dealership to address two recalls on my Toyota Yaris on 10/24/17, I received text messages from the service advisor,Joe Heidinger on the same day stating, "the belt has cracks in it." I questioned the statement due to having the belt replaced in the last year. It was then stated again that cracks were present. I agreed to repair based on these statements. Upon picking up and paying for the repair of my vehicle I reviewed the repair invoice and it stated, "replaced serp belt recommended by time." I questioned the invoice and was informed by three different members of the management team (Ian C., Bill, and GM Debbie) that there was no confirmed cracks ever to the belt and that they did not have the supposed cracked belt.I requested a refund for the cost of the belt at $159.78 to be returned to my debit card on file.I was denied the refund and told it was just a "miscommunication," and that they feel, "We've done nothing wrong." I was offered a gift card to return for future services but at this time due to my view of unethical and substandard service I would not like to have my vehicle to be serviced at their business in the future. I also was told that they do not have to withhold Toyota's standards because quote, "They don't sign my businesses check book." I have spoken to the management dept. on more than four occasions and have been denied the refund, even with agreement that the belt was not cracked. (posted pictures) read more
