The restaurant was empty, other than one table with two people. The atmosphere seemed very unwelcoming. The waitress who did seat us, was dressed in a black halter top that was so low, it exposed her breasts. Her entire back area was exposed as well, showing her bright pink bra. It was not only provocative, but embarrassing to even look at her, it was very distasteful. Why management would let someone dress like that, says a lot about the restaurant as a whole, in our opinion. Once seated, our drink order was taken right away, and shortly thereafter, our order. The food was delivered within a timely manner and was tasty. We felt it was also reasonably priced. This day and age, we understand it is not easy to find employees that actually want to work. But when you do, allowing them to dress in a manner, which makes your customers feel uncomfortable, is not acceptable.

It did have plenty of bacon and clams in it but the broth of the chowder was different. We did not care for it and it was very different than other clam chowder dishes. Next we ordered the cod fish and chips and the crab sandwich. Along with those came fries and coleslaw. The fries were hot and amazing while the coleslaw was very dry with little sauce. The fish and chips were the best ever. They were even better than perfect. Next we shared the crab sandwich and neither of us took more than a bite. It was actually terrible but not sure if it was as intended or not to our taste. Either way with all this tasting the fish and chips were great but nothing else was even something we would ever order again. The restaurant was clean except for the floor. It was very sticky. Servers were good in taking our order and handing us the bill but never came back to check on us once. Needless to say if we want fish & chips, we get them as a takeout. We would definitely order the fish again as it rated 5 stars with us but nothing else. The chowder was 2 stars in our mind and the crab sandwich a 1 star.

The definition of a charming little downtown restaurant!…read more The décor is wonderful, and I love that they've preserved its old-time character. There's an eclectic mix of tables and chairs that adds to the charm, and they've done an excellent job fitting plenty of seating into the space without making it feel crowded. There's also a cozy little bar with the obligatory TVs. Despite the lack of soft surfaces, the noise level was surprisingly low, and the background music was at just the right volume, making conversation easy. We seated ourselves, and our server arrived promptly with menus and took our drink order. Unfortunately, after our food was delivered, she seemed to disappear. She never came back to check on our meal, and we ended up asking another server for drink refills. The food, however, was fantastic! I had the Pacific Pasta (I may have the name slightly wrong), and it was outstanding. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was light and flavorful, and there was so much seafood! I expected a couple of shrimp and a few chunks of salmon, but the plate was loaded with both. My husband ordered the tenderloin, which was cooked perfectly, and he enjoyed the rice as well. The presentation of both dishes was excellent. The prices were very reasonable. Our bill came to about $110 for an appetizer, two entrées, and three drinks. If I had one small wish, it would be cloth napkins. It's a tiny detail and certainly doesn't take away from the experience, but it's one of those little touches that would have made the meal feel just a bit more special. Overall, I was very impressed and would definitely recommend this restaurant. I'd happily return the next time we're in town.

There was live music (apparently on Wednesday nights) and the place was crowded. But our service was great. We were immediately greeted and sat at a a little table for two. The staff was friendly and did call me, as I had requested, if there were any issues with fulfilling the order, which I appreciated. During the call, I was informed that the carne asada tacos listed as "2 for $4.88" on the à la carte menu were actually priced per taco, not for two. I was also told that the two four-enchilada dinners I ordered could not be fulfilled because they were out of shredded beef. They offered chicken or pork as substitutes, but my family was hoping for beef, as I make chicken enchiladas at home regularly and we don't care for pork. The person I spoke with was courteous and apologetic and explained that beef was cooking, but it would take about 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, my DoorDash driver had already arrived. The driver was very patient and even offered to help by calling me so I could cancel the order. I initially tried to cancel through the DoorDash app, but it indicated I would need to forfeit the full amount, so I contacted DoorDash customer service instead. After explaining that the situation was unforeseen and not really anyone's fault, they were able to issue a partial refund to my card, with the remaining amount provided as DoorDash credit. I did briefly consider waiting for the beef and adjusting the order, but with the wait time and pricing, we decided to look at other options. I ended up placing an order with El Ranchero instead and had no issues. Their family enchilada deal included 20 shredded beef enchiladas, rice, beans, and chips with salsa for a similar price, which worked better for our family that evening. My only recommendation would be that if you're ordering from Black Agave through DoorDash--especially since it appears to be a smaller restaurant--it may help to call ahead to confirm availability and pricing before placing the order.

I really appreciated that when I told the server that I couldn't have dairy so I needed to omit the sour cream and guac for my fajitas, she pointed out that the beans have cheese on them, so she'd have that omitted as well. The portion sizes were perfect and service was remarkably fast, too. Only thing to point out is that they have Starry on tap, instead of Sprite or 7Up.
