I've written a review about this place before...the atmosphere, food, and service of this restaurant is the best you'll find in Williamsburg. Last night we got take-out. It was too late to make dinner when we got home and the kids were still at home, so we ordered the special take-out Gyro dinner for four. It was incredible and enough to feed (and fill) our teenager sons. Obviously, I am still thinking about how completely great it was...because I'm doing a review a day later. My husband said "that dinner was the best" before he rolled over and went to sleep. It really is the best. This place never disappoints. We constantly refer it to friends and family and this Christmas we started a new thing of giving a gift card to friends to make sure they check it out! I lived about 2 miles from Greek-town in Toronto so I know good Greek food. This is it!! read more

It's rare that I give five stars, but Kephi really deserves it. The food was all wonderful, the service was great, but that extra little "something"? My three-year-old son wanted to try a cookie, which I wasn't sure if he would like. Our first visit in May was great. The food was a bit pricey but overall we were happy with our experience. FF to last night. I was excited to show this place to my fiance. The whole experience was lackluster at best. Our server "bobby" was rude and inattentive. When we stated we were going to do a variety of appetizers he lost interest. He told us he would be right back and we watched him tend to 3 other tables and then disappear before finally coming back to take our order. On our first visit we were served the hummus and pita as a starter. We had to ask for it and then saw we were charged additional for it. The kalamari was good. Dolmades are good. The octopus was a bit dryer than last time. Spanakopita tasted a but freezer burned and wasnt even hot. Just barely warmed through. We may give it a shot again in the future but definitely not anytime soon read more

Had a wonderful dinner here. The grilled octopus was stellar, best I ever had. Also tried the tarmasalata, which I had never tried before. Very mild flavor but still good - but then again idk what it is supposed to taste like! I also has the grilled lamb chops, which were seasoned perfectly and super delicious. Had a few delicious craft cocktails and had a giant piece of layered chocolate cake for dessert which was amazing! They have a hugeeee selection of desserts not listed on the menu, which I was super excited about. Prices were reasonable. My husband and I went for lunch on a miserable rainy day. We immediately liked the place when we walked in. Several Greek food items and oils are for sale. The bakery case is all homemade. The decor is fresh and modern with wallpaper murals of Greek scenery. We ordered olives and feta to start. I got the vegetarian moussaka and he got the tria plate with spanakopita, loukaniko and keftedes. Food was great. I love vegetarian moussaka and had been craving it. This was perfect. The spanakopita was delicious as were the keftedes. The loukaniko was different from what we are accustomed to and I'm not sure I'd order that again. Delicious food and good service with huge portions! Good comes out promptly. Spanakopita was good but not great, but portion was large. Greek burger and fries are outstanding. Liked, but didn't love the souvlaki - pork wasn't the best quality and sandwich got mushy quickly, so I couldn't save one half for later - it was enormous. Would be better served on a hearty pita instead. Hot crispy fries are yummy. Will definitely be back. Only negative are the thick white towel napkins, they left lint all over my clothes. The atmosphere here is enough for you to come and visit. We went late in a Tuesday when there was no one else there. I'm thinking with all the tables you might have a bit of noise. They have a nice looking bakery. We ordered the gyro and grinder and were not disappointed. Tasty complete gyro and a larger grinder. It comes with wonderful fresh fries. The server was Uber friendly and patient with us. My only complaint is I have never in my life had a gyro with chopped cubed lamb/beef meat. The pieces slide off the sandwich and the pita bread. Ordered online and picked up as takeout. We ordered the family gyro plate for 4 and an order of taramasalata. The positives: ready on time, very nice lady at the window and ingredients seemed fresh The negatives: 3 hairs found in 3 different dishes!! How is that possible?? 1 long one on the inside lid of the taramasalata, 1 mid size in the salad and a small one in the chicken. We were seated and served quickly. For our appetizer, we got the stuffed grape leaves, which were delicious, but small. Lemon potatoes were tasty. Tzatziki and hummus were also very good. I decided to get a Greek chicken salad as my main dish and was disappointed. There is really no flavor to it and pretty much zero lettuce. It's a large bowl of peppers and onions, really. We decided to try this out after a long car trip. Friday night, not busy. Overall the experience was underwhelming and slightly disappointing. I feel like the majority of that experience can be attributed to the attitude of the waitress. We walked in and adored the vibe. Part hip bar, part casual dining. It looked fun and inviting. Anyway, the waitress chose to try to take my drink order as I'm crouched down handling the kiddo, before we are even seated. The don't serve sweet tea (seriously?). They didn't have my second option. I finally just said, "waters please" and from there her sullen demeanor became annoying. Five minutes into our meal another party was seated who ordered alcohol, and she lit up talking to them. I could see the $$$ in her eyes as we were ignored from this point on. We ordered soup, which had little flavor and arrived practically cold. It was for the toddler, who didn't mind so much. Husband and I finally both ordered the lamb grinders. The meat came in tough and chewy chunks with browning lettuce. For $12 per person at an "authentic" Greek restaurant, it should have been fork tender. The flavor was nothing to write home about. As a matter of fact, our Greek place at home does it better. The fries were amazing and we ordered extra. It could have been a better experience if the waitress had chosen to do a better job than the drive through at Chick-fil-A. This place has become a favorite of mine here in the 'Burg. When it comes to Greek and Mediterranean food, in general, I've always favored the taste of lamb; especially, grilled lamb chops. But today, I asked for a recommendation on what their house specialty was... and here it is: "Kotsi Arniso", it is their house specialty of braised lamb shank on a bed of spaghetti... I don't know how they prepare their braising liquid, but whatever they do it is amazing! There were bites that had me questioning whether or not I was eating lamb. There were bites that tasted like veal shank or even ham hock. The meat was so tender and falling off the bone. AND THE BAKLAVA CHEESECAKE... the epitome of decadent! Kephi was my first experience eating authentic Greek food. I ate here on a work lunch so we ordered a ton of appetizers. We ordered both hot and cold meze and I loved everything I tried. I also ordered the Kephi Grinder which I finished when I got back to the office. Their seasoned french fries are fantastic. Kephi is a super comfortable restaurant with clean decor. Not sure what the draw is here... looks cool maybe? The hummus was cold, usually its served room temperature or warm. I personally did not like the flavor but I've grown accustomed to flavored hummus. The kephi gyro lamb and beef seems to be an attempt at elevating the gyro, however despite the good flavor it was rubbery and off putting.... trial by 3. It's not what most have become accustomed to as a lamb beef gyro even while living overseas. I tried the grinder for a change and had expected a more dense bread than is basically the bread served with hummus. It was like a gyro sub, which due to the meat was not enjoyable. The chicken gyro was better but both my wife and my mother said it was dry. Goodbye Kephi, too expensive for terrible food. read more

Was looking forward to the food but have to say I found it less than inspired. The mezze platter had 3 dips and only the skordalia had any taste and that was very mild. Kephi was an awesome find. We had originally stopped at the restaurant next door, but they were full in their outside dining tent. We chose to walk next door, taking the advice of an employee who said that she often ate there as well. We ate outside under the tent. Our server was spot on with his recommendations for dinner and dessert. We ordered an assortment of different things and all shared. Kephi chicken gyro had the perfect flavor, everything well seasoned and cooked. Desserts absolutely stole the show. I wish I could remember the name of everything we tried, but I think they rotate things quite a bit. Pretty much anything selected from the display case is going to be good. Came here for an early dinner on a Friday evening. First time here, decided to try it out based off the 4.5 star review on yelp and it did not disappoint. With Covid-19 we had to wear mask to enter but upon being seated we could remove our mask covering. Waiter was friendly and made some great suggestions off the menu. I ordered the Santori Sunrise for a cocktail and it was quite refreshing, sort of a take on a mojito but made with grapefruit. As an appetizer we ordered the Ketedes (ground beef and lamb meatballs) served with a yogurt sauce. My boyfriend enjoyed these very much. Along with the meal they bring out to the table fresh baked bread with some sort of pea yogurt based dipping sauce. I wasn't to big of a fan on the dipping sauce but than again I don't really care for peas/beans. For my entree I went with what they are known for Kephi Gyro they have chicken but I went with the beef and lamb mix served with fresh cut fries. My dish was very tasteful. My boyfriend ordered the Brizola Moshariza marinated New York strip served with lemon potatoes and seasoned vegetables. He ate every last bite off his plate!!! For desserts they have a display case with all sorts of homemade sweets. I of course went with the traditional baklava and a cheesecake baklava to go! The decor inside of the restaurant is updated, nice good ambience. They also have available for customers to sample different infused olive oils and balsamic vinaigrette. My wife and I came back from a vacation in Santorini Greece and was looking for a Gyro that would compare! We stumbled upon Kephi and was so happy when we tasted the food! We live in Northern VA and both agree that the food is worth the 3 hour drive (no joke, it's THAT good)! The decor inside is reminiscent of that in Greece and the staff are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! The owners are sweet as can be, and speaking of sweet, the desserts are all made fresh every day and they sell out every night! If you're in the area, definitely try this place out and be sure to bring your appetite because the portions are huge! read more

This place was authentic, delicious and unbeatable. We ordered many things that touched our tastebuds like little angels kissing each one. I don't know where to start in giving them the raves. Everything was amazing. The waitress was incredibly kind, patient, knowledgeable, and sweet. The food was incredible ( as previously stated)! The atmosphere was pleasing to the eyes and ears. There are literally ZERO complaints. Also, for the reviews complaining that they waited a half hour for a nice fresh hot meal... duh! We have gone to Kephi since it opened. Went today for lunch. I ordered the chicken souvlaki grinder. What I got was chicken souvlaki, very different from the grinder. As I was served, I stated that this wasn't what I ordered. The surly waitress pretty much said, too bad, this is what you are getting. My husband asked to see the menu, and yes, there are two items, one below each other, that list chicken souvlaki. Instead of acknowledging that there might have been some confusion, because of the two chicken souvlaki items, the waitress and hostess dug in and insisted I was the one at fault. They completely ruined our lunch. And they have lost not only us as customers, but the group of neighbors that we often bring along with us. All because they couldn't have been gracious. Our family visited here while on vacation to Williamsburg. We love Greek food. First impressions of Kephi Greek Kitchen was very good. The lobby area and entrance is very neat and clean. The overall feel of the restaurant was very nice. Now on to the food. For the appetizers, we ordered the saganaki (flaming cheese) which absolutely delicious. We also ordered the Calamari which was horrible. It was chewy and rubbery. We sent it back and the server kindly brought back a replacement that was worse than the first one. We did not eat it at all, it was awful. Three of the four of us ordered the traditional Greek gyros. Chewy, fatty, flavorless meat was horrible. The tazziki sauce was only on half the sandwich. The fries were undercooked. The fourth member had the lamb burger grinder and said they were adequate, but the fries were still under cooked. The server was not attentive to the basic needs of the table such as refills and such. He didn't communicate well, and show no sense of urgency or care that our food was not good. Of all the restaurants that we visited over our 10 day visit Kephi was at the bottom of the list both for the food and the service. But unfortunately mostly for the food. If you are looking for some good Greek food while visiting Williamsburg, keep on looking past Kephi, because this is not the place. read more
