In Williamsburg for a quick getaway camping and decided to treat ourselves to dinner instead of eating at the camper. The original plan was to eat at Food for Thought but their outdoor seating was not available due to a funeral party (yeah, I didn't know those existed either). Based on the recommendation of the hostess, we went next door to Kephi. We were not disappointed! They had outdoor seating available, we were the only ones outside. The service was prompt and friendly. As usual we ask for suggestions. We settled on Garides Tou Themo, Chicken Gyro, and Kephi Grinder. My Kephi Grinder was perfect. One of the most underrated part of a grinder or sub is the bread. The bread on this grinder was perfect. Soft, but just firm enough to hold everything inside. The lamb was cooked very well. The takasaki sauce was able to tie everything together. The dessert was the star of the show. The dessert was the highlight. They have a large dessert case when you walk into the restaurant. I had the best dining experience I've had in years! I was in Williamsburg for a week for work and stopped in mainly because I'm Greek and I always try to support. The ambiance is welcoming and cozy, great place for a date night or family outing. I sat at the bar and was served by Holly who was so friendly and told me all about the menu items. The food was of great quality, I had the Branzini, it was the best ever! If you love dessert, this is the place to be. The desserts are all hand made by the owner. I will give this place a one star because the place offers a good atmosphere, the service was good, and the location is very accessible. However, the food was not to the standard I am used to for a place of mid-range prices. I ordered the moussaka and the flavor was bland. I am used to a good bechamel but this restaurant tops it with a soft bland mash potato-like stuff. Not tasty at all. My wife ordered the Arniso Boutaki me meli and the lamb tasted as if it was from one of those TV Dinners. I will not doubt it was. The overall experience was a waste of my time. Date night with my Darling Bride, and she suggested this place, because she'd been here before. Bumped into a friend of ours in the parking lot, and a gaggle of them once we were being led to our table. You need to understand- we are food people. Most of our people are food people. To find the tribe representing is a good sign. For appetizer, we split the Kephi Cold Pikilia- taramasalata (Greek caviar dip), melitzanosalata (grilled eggplant dip), tzatziki, kalmata olives, and dolmades, served with pita. The caviar was not at all what I expected; pink, and neither salty nor fishy. Kind of bland, kind of glutinous, but not bad. The eggplant dip, I would buy on its own and eat with bread, or a spoon. Or my bare hands; I'm not proud, and it's that good. We ended up having to get another order of pita bread because they gave us so much dip! And then, before the pita arrived, she brought us bread and a sort of fava bean hummus with capers in. I know that Pythagoras believed that fava beans contained the souls of the dead, and all I can say is that the Greeks have some darn tasty souls! My moussaka was fantastic! Each layer was cooked to perfection, and the béchamel? It will haunt my dreams. I have never made such a sauce as that, and I totally need to kidnap somebody's little old Greek grandmother and keep her in my kitchen until she spills the secret. DB's chicken souvlaki was delicious; slightly smoky, highly yummy. The only disappointment was that she ordered the Pork souvlaki, but was informed that they don't actually *make* Pork souvlaki despite its presence on the menu. We decided to be good children and only eat half of our supper so we could get dessert. We looked at something called galakto-boureko and thought we might like it. Then the nice lady at the counter told us what it IS. She said "egg custard and lemon" and we said "yes, please!" Now I need to kidnap *her* grandmother, too. It's custard and phyllo and lemon and honey and everything you ever longed for in your secret heart in the quiet hours, dusted with cinnamon. Trust me; if it's in the case, just get it. The coffee is quite good. DB opted for iced (unsweet ) tea. The ambience is nice- lots of pottery and murals, and the chairs are quite lovely. It was crazy busy- like SRO - unusual for 7:30 on a Tuesday night, which I hope explains why our server was so distracted and hard to catch. What I've heard from other folks is that service is kind of hit-or-miss. The food excuses much, and Bridget was a firecracker! Supper (including Williamsburg's predatory meals tax - because when you rely on tourist dollars, you should squeeze them all at once ) was $59.92, to which we added the usual tip. Atmosphere is really nice. Food was pretty good. However we found the meat to be a little under-seasoned for us. I wouldn't let that stop you from trying this place though. My wife had the gyro and I had the kabobs. Waitress was receptive to my soda tasting flat, in fact she brought me another and the manager came along to make sure I was happy! Then seated, water and as brought out while we were looking over the menu. The waiter provided recommendations during each step of the dining process. Every age range was here and family friendly. Our waiter was 4103/Kadir. Hopefully his employer knows what a great person he is!!!! He is definitely worth giving a pay increase to! You're met with a beautifully spaced store of olive and other Greek products before you arrive to the tables. We recently visited Williamsburg with my niece from out of town. After careful research of the restaurants in the area, we decided to dine here. They offered both outside and inside seating. We would recommend the inside seating during the warm summer days. First, everyone wore a mask and followed health guidelines. The host warmly greeted us at the door and offered Happy Hour seating at the bar or their regular dining area seating. We opted for the bar with my niece ordering a (what I will call) Sage Martini and I deciding on a glass of wine. The menu had delicious appetizers and entrees. As I try to stay away from carbs, the bartender/manager quickly offered to replace high carb side dishes with low carb vegetables. I chose the lamb and it was incredible. Savory and tender. Several drinks later, my niece and I walked back to our hotel very satisfied. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. The food was great and everyone there was friendly and helpful. I would recommend only one thing to management. Try to have low carb sides and no/low sugar dessert options. Maybe cauliflower rice, pasta alternatives, dark chocolate and no sugar brownies or cakes. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious! The food is authentically Greek and tasted great, and our server was so sweet and attentive. We started with spanakopita, which was buttery, flaky, and fantastic. My mother got lamb chops, and she loved them and the mint yogurt sauce that came with them. My father got the fish special, the barramundi (a type of sea bass), and said it was delicious as well. As for me, I got the chicken souvlaki (skewer chicken). It was very well seasoned and I got tzatziki sauce with it, which I very much recommend. Now for dessert: the restaurant has a huge case of homemade desserts at the front, which was so cool! We just happened to run across Kephi Greek Kitchen yesterday while driving through Williamsburg - and now we are huge fans! The first thing you'll notice is how clean the parking lot and building are - including the back area that most people don't see. The inside is spotlessly clean and the decor is very pleasant. The person that greeted us was pleasant and welcoming. The desert cases had some fantastic looking delectable treats. If we weren't so full from the food we'd have ordered one of them. We split a delicious appetizer of dolmades. It was presented beautifully and was superb. My wife got the Greek Burger and fries and I got kephi gyro. Of course we shared with each other and we we're both very impressed by everything. Our server, Anya, was very attentive and checked on us often. We will definitely visit them again! read more

I am in love. Having driven past Kephi several times, I was itchin' to try it. I made my usual mistake of drooling over the menu and ordering far more than I can eat in a single sitting. First time in my life that I've had and authentic gyro, so the Kephi Gyro (Hand Carved Lamb and Beef Wrapped in Grilled Pita With Tomatoes, Onions, Lettuce and Tzatziki. Served With Hand Cut Fries) seemed like a good place to start. The Gyro itself was awesome. The fries were good, but nothing to write home about. I had not heard of Haloumi cheese, so when I saw Grilled Haloumi (Imported Cypriot Mild Cheese, Grilled With Ouzo, Raisins, Pine Nuts and Melisaki Honey) on the menu I decided to give it a try. It was good, but I learned that Haloumi cheese is not my cup of sideritis. And the Classic Greek Salad $9, (Crisp Romaine Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Bell Peppers (Red & Green), Red Onions, Feta, Kalamata Olives (unpitted), and Kei Dressing), is simply wonderful. It's a bit pricey at $9, but I enjoyed every bite. Spanokopita (Blend of Feta, Spinach, Fresh Herbs Wrapped in Phyllo). A rather mundane spana. It was a good sized slab of spana, perhaps 5x5 inches. But IMHO, the proprietor/chef should check out Mollie Katzen's Spanokopita. Kephi is a real gem. The sign in front is eye-catching without being obnoxious. Parking is easy in the dedicated lot. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Seriously, authentic Greek food in Williamsburg? Yup. I was very impressed with a couple of things. First and foremost, the décor of the restaurant is very hip and well done. You can tell the place is new and they did a fine job of designing and decorating the space. Now the food. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I seriously have not had good authentic Greek food since I lived in Chicago. This place is very legit. The gyro meat that they cut from the spit is not pre-packaged overly processed meat product, it is real meat which tastes phenomenal by the way. Their tzatziki is also fresh and made onsite all you have to do is taste it and you'll be able to tell it didn't come from a food service supplier. Their grilled Halloumi is also pretty spectacular. Great spot in Williamsburg! My family and I are visiting and we thoroughly enjoyed our takeout dinner on our first night. Pictured is everything that we ordered (family of four) and we ate everything! Personally, I had the Kephi Gyro and it was amazing.
