Been seeing this Japanese restaurant for a while now in Greenbelt 5 and most of the time it is crowded. I had to check out what the hype is all about especially since the ramen fad has already ended. Well, it is crowded, so we had to wait for a seat. The receptionist/waiter will panic first before he notes my down for the reservation. The manager just stands there like a statue between the commotions. Some waiters are rude and won't assist you. Anyway, we finally got to sit. Ventilation is not good though as it get hot inside.
Most important thing is the food. We expect it to be good. We tried:
Shoyu Ramen - the kids ordered this and they loved it. Chashu thinly-sliced and the soup is not salty.
Miso Butter Corn Ramen - I ordered this for the love of butter and corn. I do not like miso but their version was good. I finished the entire bowl. The noodles are al dente. The miso soup is flavored with the melted butter. Other ingredients include Chashu Pork, ground pork, and corn kernels.
Gomoku Ramen - seafood ramen with chashu and vegetables. My parents ordered a large size and shared. For the first time, my mom did not complain that the soup is salty, and yet very flavorful.
Cheese Gyoza - pan-fried Japanese dumplings with cream cheese. The skin is deeply-fried. The filling has more vegetables than meat (or the meat is finely grinded). The cream cheese did not complement the filling. It was very creamy and the sour taste fell off. I like a cheese gyoza I ate somewhere where the cheese used is cheddar, it adds and complements the filling that way. The mayo-chili sauce it accompanied was strange as well. Just tried it out, but will not order again.
Kakiage - tempura-style-fried vegetable of carrots and sweet potatoes with some shrimp. This is a relatively good dish. The tempura was fried perfectly. I do not encourage anyone to eat the entire dish alone because it gets satiating after a few pieces.
California Maki - very lettuce-y for the crunch, but tasted normal.
Chicken Teriyaki - my nephew's favorite. He ate 3/4 of the plate. The crunchy boneless chicken was fried and glazed by the teriyaki sauce. Sweet, salty, and crunchy. He said it was really good but Oedo's version is better and healthier.
Food is ok and would like to try other dishes especially the Teppan. I hope they improved their service soon though. read more
