Ramen was disappointing. The Shoyu broth was very bland and didn't have the usual clean and flavorful taste that I prefer. This is surprising as the waitress said it's their best seller..? Anyway, also had the Tuna shashimi and Salmom sushi which were good but nothing special. My date had the chahan, shrimp tempura and tokatsu which was good in her opinion. Service was average as well and for the price I could have gone to a few other Ramen places in Makati which are much better. The highlight for me was the very cold SML.

This made me believe in love again. Mmm. Spicy Tuna Sashimi.

Of all the ramen places in Manila, this one is my absolute favorite. Honestly, it's not even because of their ramen, but surprisingly, it's because of their Spicy Tuna Salad. Now, see, that is my favorite Japanese dish of all time and the one in Kenji Tei Ramen House, is has the perfect combination of tempura crumbs, spicy and of course, tuna sashimi. They're ramen is actually not bad either. Sure, I can never finish one whole serving because they're quite big for my small stomach, but I do however have once in awhile cravings for their ramen. My dad and I looooove eating in Kenji Tei, we actually think it's the best ramen house we've ever been to in Manila. My usual order is the Shoyu Ramen (cause I'm boring like that), but you should also go ahead and try their Curry Ramen and their Spicy Negi Ramen. The Miso Butter Corn Ramen is so-so, but can get tiring for your taste buds, so I suggest you stick to the basics. Everything is best paired with a Coca-Cola to balance out the saltiness of the food your eating!

Whenever I find myself in Greenbelt with some cash to spare or when my cravings are strong enough to ignore the protests of my wallet, I end up in Kenji Tei. I haven't ordered much of what is in the menu but like always, I have my favorites. This might be a brave claim but so far, without considering the price, I think Kenji Tei's spicy tuna roll has to be on the top of my list, I'd have it everyday if I could! They've perfected the intensity of the spice and the rolls are topped with a very generous amount of sushi, it's like a whole other order of spicy tuna in another restaurant. And despite me not being a fan of gyoza or the knowledge that I will regret eating that much in the end, I always have to order their Cheese Gyoza, it's the worth all the calories, trust me.

In general, I'm not really a fan of too commercialised places. I have second thoughts on trying these places where too many people flock. Usually, these restaurants don't prepare dishes the authentic way (or they're very affordable for the masa). I tried Kenji Tei - Japanese food here is good but nothing spectacular or mind blowing. I guess because there aren't a lot of Japanese food choices that one will end up here. The gyoza was good though! Well it kind of tastes like gyoza from other restaurants. I wasn't up for trying the cheese gyoza (it sounded really weird for me). The spicy tuna rolls were okay here as well. At least each sushi was packed well with tuna. I like the fried tempura batter on top that's mixed with more tuna. I think this dish wins the best here. They really did it well here. The ramen, I got to try from my friend and I wasn't convinced on ordering one for myself. This place needs to come up with a "wow factor" dish in order to lure me to liking the menu more.

My friend ordered their Cheese gyoza (P210), also a unique one because it has a cheesy center.

Tucked along the busy strip of restaurants and businesses under the Mezza Residences is probably…read moresome of the best ramen I've had in Metro Manila--and that's saying something, because ramen is a big deal in these parts! It doesn't have the international recognition of Ippudo or Santouka or the creativity of Nagi, but the ramen here feels as though someone is treating you for a nice dinner at home. There are only three flavors available of the ramen, the shiro (classic), kuro (garlic), and aka (spicy). I've had both the kuro and aka, and I can say that they are extremely satisfying. Neither the garlic nor the spice was too overpowering. The broth was also extremely well-balanced. Not too fatty but still smooth enough to make you want to slurp the bowl once you've finished. The pork cuts weren't as tender as I've had at other places, but still very well done. The tamago was also well done. Love the runniness! But what puts this place over the edge into 5-star territory is the price. You can get a super filling bowl of ramen here for only 230 pesos! And that's for the larger size! I wager that's basically half of what you'd pay at the more upscale mall places for nearly the same quality. I was also able to try one of their sets featuring a bowl of ramen of your choosing, their gyudon rice don on the side and a bowl of fresh fruits for only 360 pesos. I was stuffed after. So so worth it. The gyoza was also really well made, and a steal for only 100 pesos. The staff here is always super attentive and accommodating, even when we've come in with a larger group, and they do accept all major credit cards, which is a huge plus for me. Definitely worth a try. I don't have to venture out to the more upscale parts of the Metro to enjoy a well-curated bowl of ramen anymore!

This location does have a vegan option for those who are looking. While the taste was exceptional, the limited space in the restaurant did lead to a bit of a wait before getting seated. However, they convieniently have a sister location just across the street which allows you to compare wait times between the two spots and choose the one that could accommodate you first.

So no taking home leftovers but you can do frozen ramen take out where they also have instructions on how to make it. We had the tantanmen ramen with extra charsiu and egg and it was phenomenal. No wonder they don't have you take it home. We also ordered gyoza which was a little too oily for me and also their Japanese fried rice and chicken karaage now the chicken was great but the rice was passable at best. The rice tasted like they old rice which would be perfect for your usual fried rice as that's what I use but this was too brittle. I paired the chicken with an Asahi beer which hit the spot perfectly. All in all I would say reserve seats first so you don't have to wait long. They make you order and pay ahead of time before eating which is worth noting. Oh and there don't have a lot of seating capability.
