    Chirashi Take

This Japanese restaurant has been around for awhile and consistent with their quality standards. Nice diverse menu with fresh ingredients. This place gets quite packed on weekends so be prepared to wait a little for a table. But it's worth it.

Of course, I love having sushi and this restuarant was located close to our condo. This was located in Greenbelt two and in the corner. We were greeted by the security guard. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant. They gave seasoned sprouts for my mom and I which I did not care for. They gave hot tea. I ordered my hot sake and mom ordered her sweet cold sake. Too sweet for me. I ordered the Chirashi plate which was good. Pretty fresh. My mom ordered soft crab roll and Makki roll. Everything came out pretty quick and all were eaten. They didn't really come back to see if we needed anything else so service is only ok here unless you call them. When we were done, we asked for the check. Once she gave the check, I was still chatting with my mom about something and the server was hovering over me...I guess waiting for the payment? Really? She can't wait till I was ready? I was still looking for my cash. I didn't want her being in my business and checking what money I had in my wallet? That was the only thing that really bothered me about this place. The prices are a little high too but then you are in Greenbelt...may come back another day someday.

Was craving sushi so I popped into into Sugi which is located in Greenbelt 2. It's on the street side so not the easiest to find but all the security guards were helpful in directing me. Decor is very nice and service was attentive. Definitely not the best sushi I've had but food is fresh and menu plentiful. EXCELLENT value for the money, in my opinion: 12 Tuna+Avocado Maki for 440 pesos. Looks like there are a couple other sushi restaurants coming to Greenbelt but this place seems like it would be worth another try.

After hours of beating the traffic from mckinley to makati and after watching a movie... Finally! There was a reason again for me to eat! Japanese cuisine has always been my comfort food. Just beside tender bobs is Sugi. A reliable japanese restaurant that serves great Japanese food! Ordered Cha soba ( cold green tea noodles ) and beef sukiyaki soba.. And of course house tea to complete the meal! Best to reserve your table early because normally this place is full (dinner time).

I assure you, every peso you spend in Sugi is worth it. At first look at their menu, you might end up disheartened because of the cost of each dish... but if a special occasion comes around, it's your chance to try Sugi out! Not only do they have delicious food, but also great service! It's hard to find a place that sells quality tempura, even harder to find tempura that doesn't taste like all the rest.. and yes, Sugi has amazing, crunchy Ebi tempura! Of course, being in Japanese restaurant, I must order a Maki dish, and so I usually get either Sugi's Dragon Roll or their Soft Shell Crab roll. I also enjoy their salmon sashimi (always a must to order that in any good Japanese establishment), and their Chahan Fried rice! So far, they've got the best Chahan I've tried in Metro Manila.

It was really hard to say what my favorite dish was because everything was so delicious and incomparable. What we ordered: -Garlic, chili shrimp: Oh my gosh. IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!! It was flavored, seasoned just right. It had a sweet little taste to the flavoring and my assumption is that it was due to the butter in the PI. I would HIGHLY recommend getting this! -Tenigue sinigang: I've never had fresh tenegue until visiting the Philippines. Tenigue is delicious - it has a similar taste and texture to tuna. Add Tenigue in sinigang and wow - how delicious!! The thick, flakey texture adds so much depth to the sinigang. -Bulalo: I didn't try this but my brother ate the whole bowl and didn't really share with the rest of the group. *eye rolls* anyway, he must have enjoyed it a lot since he didn't share. The only thing he mentioned was the fact that it didn't have enough of "fat" -Fried Tenigue: Another variation of Tenigue. So good!! I dipped it in Patis and Calamansi. -Fried tilapia: I mean, it's basically fresh, fried tilapia and what else can you ask for? But if you're just gonna order fried seafood, I'd pair it with their veggies or their pinakbet. -Pinakbet: We got our pinakbet without any shrimp since my mom has a shrimp allergy. Without the shrimp, it was amazing!! I loved the mix of veggies. The veggies were cooked really well too - it wasn't too soggy which could happen really easily. I can only assume that the pinakbet bet with shrimp probably taste better. Other tips/hints: -Free, fast WiFi. It was great for travelers like me! -Parking. Easy to find and there was a small fee.

The crab boil was bursting with flavor -- rich, garlicky, and perfectly seasoned so every bite packed a punch. There's no restroom inside but Atrium's is just right across. Clam Chowder: This was a good way to start our meal! Soup was thick, having a creamy texture that was filling enough along with some clam. Seafood Specialties: Main course of today's meal was mussels and shrimp. Before anything, I gotta mention how fun it was to eat everything with plastic gloves on. I've tried this with wings elsewhere and now seafood at Bag O' Shrimps; just pure fun! I still dare to put aside using a spoon to eat the rice drenched in their amazing sauces. Shrimps were fresh plus easy and fun to peel before dipping back into its amazing sauce before eating. We added corn to everything and even that was fun to eat. It's a bit messy on the mouth though. Mussels were impressively large and probably the largest I've seen so far. You can easily tell from the shells already and when you see the actual mussels, amazing! The sauce was just as tasty as the shrimps' but with a bit more spice. Service: Standard good service! Good luck eating the rice with your hands. I'd also love to hear everyone's thoughts! Did scooping a handful and pushing it up with your thumb still work with the gloves on.

This kind of experience is what the Original Dampa market offers for those who want to enjoy good food without hurting their pockets too much. The original dampa market is a compound with different stalls/restaurants offering basically the same kind of food for customers. It's a place where you can make "paluto" whatever you just bought at the conjoining wet market. You have an option to buy from the wet market whatever you wish to eat (which can get your a lower cost) or ask the staff from the restaurant to buy (but of course this will have a slight markup on the cost). I suggest you go for option A at least once just for the experience of getting to haggle with the vendors to give you a lower price. One place I have tried is called Jagz, which is the 3rd restaurant to your right as soon as you enter the compound. We bought from the wet market ourselves the following: Pork Liempo, Shrimps and Mussels and had it cooked right away in the restaurant. While waiting for the food to be cooked, cracker nuts were offered to us as appetizers. We opted for the Pork Liempo to be grilled, our shrimp to be tossed in garlic and butter (my ultimate fave!) and the mussels baked in garlic, butter and cheese. The buttered shrimp was super good, especially if you got big shrimps from the market. It had just the right amount of flavour! I got to eat about half of this! Hahaha. The baked mussels were also good as a generous amount of cheese was placed on top! Having baked mussels in the Metro can be a challenge since not a lot of restos offer these. The grilled pork liempo was perfectly grilled as well! I definitely enjoyed my trip here! For drinks, they have sodas in can, juice in can and bottle and for the big families, they also have 1.5 L bottle of sodas. The place is airconditioned with 2 tv sets, both with cable so you can also watch while eating. Beer is also available and you can also bring in your own hard drinks, although you need to pay a corkage fee. If you want to belt out a couple of songs, a karaoke machine is also available. Parking is also available just in front of the restaurant though during weekends, this might be a problem. Budget is around Php 1,000 - Php 1,500 for 2 (depends on the quantity of the food you will buy in the market) as this will also be the basis on the charge of their "paluto".
