Check out my experience at Ippudo Philippines.

Ippudo is a Japanese restaurant founded by Shigemi Kawahara a.k.a the Ramen King and was able to established for over 80 restaurant chains globally. Menu: The Goma Q is consists of cucumber, sesame dressing and some secret Ippudo sauce, the combination of the sweet taste of cucumber and sesame seeds are mouthwatering. The Torched Salmon Roll beats the rest of the meal that I ordered here, it is so much better than the Goma Q and Okonomiyaki to be honest. The toppings are consists of Metaiko Mayo and some Fish Roe with the Salmon torched (literally). It tasted so good I wanted to order another one but I have limited budget. This meal is worth it though. The Okonomiyaki for me was okay but my sister loved it maybe our tastebuds differs but anyways, this meal consists of chasyu (some slab of boneless pork), black konnyaku (a Japanese version of noodles from Konjac plant, you can research more about this), okonomiyaki sauce, and some Japanese version mayonnaise. Conclusion: Torched Salmon Roll will be my number 1 recommendation for you. The customer service here is great too! And of course, let's not forget this place and its food styling is instagrammable worthy. I'll go back here to try out some of their menu. Akamaru Shinaji. Delicious!

After I found out there is an Ippudo in Manila, it was our first lunch after we landed! We don't have one in Los Angeles (yet) but I've heard a lot about it. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived around 11:30am but shortly after being seated, we noticed the wait outside getting longer and longer. Glad we got there when we did! Our server was quick with approaching us and taking our order. Our food came out not long after ordering. I like how they announce the food as they're bringing it out lol. I ordered the Akamaru Shinaji ramen and I'm so glad I did! It was 9/10. It would be a 10 if the egg was flavored/marinated but maybe that was my fault for not specifying. The broth was rich and deep in flavor. The pork belly was perfectly cooked. The noodles were also fresh and nicely chewy. We also ordered their okonomiyaki which was different than other versions I've had in the past. I liked this one better though. It had perfectly cut/cooked pieces of pork belly laying on top of a soft mixture of I-don't-know-what haha but it was good. Price was decent for the quality you get. I certainly left satisfied and wish they would hurry up and open one in Los Angeles already lol

It doesn't have the international recognition of Ippudo or Santouka or the creativity of Nagi, but the ramen here feels as though someone is treating you for a nice dinner at home. There are only three flavors available of the ramen, the shiro (classic), kuro (garlic), and aka (spicy). I've had both the kuro and aka, and I can say that they are extremely satisfying. Neither the garlic nor the spice was too overpowering. The broth was also extremely well-balanced. Not too fatty but still smooth enough to make you want to slurp the bowl once you've finished. The pork cuts weren't as tender as I've had at other places, but still very well done. The tamago was also well done. Love the runniness! But what puts this place over the edge into 5-star territory is the price. You can get a super filling bowl of ramen here for only 230 pesos! And that's for the larger size! I wager that's basically half of what you'd pay at the more upscale mall places for nearly the same quality. I was also able to try one of their sets featuring a bowl of ramen of your choosing, their gyudon rice don on the side and a bowl of fresh fruits for only 360 pesos. I was stuffed after. So so worth it. The gyoza was also really well made, and a steal for only 100 pesos. The staff here is always super attentive and accommodating, even when we've come in with a larger group, and they do accept all major credit cards, which is a huge plus for me. Definitely worth a try. I don't have to venture out to the more upscale parts of the Metro to enjoy a well-curated bowl of ramen anymore!

This location does have a vegan option for those who are looking. While the taste was exceptional, the limited space in the restaurant did lead to a bit of a wait before getting seated. So no taking home leftovers but you can do frozen ramen take out where they also have instructions on how to make it. We had the tantanmen ramen with extra charsiu and egg and it was phenomenal. No wonder they don't have you take it home. We also ordered gyoza which was a little too oily for me and also their Japanese fried rice and chicken karaage now the chicken was great but the rice was passable at best. The rice tasted like they old rice which would be perfect for your usual fried rice as that's what I use but this was too brittle. I paired the chicken with an Asahi beer which hit the spot perfectly. All in all I would say reserve seats first so you don't have to wait long. They make you order and pay ahead of time before eating which is worth noting. Oh and there don't have a lot of seating capability.

My dad's relatives are somewhat aware, so they suggested we go here for lunch. I was bummed because of the lack of local eateries we've been to so far (which will be a recurring pattern for the rest of our time here). And Ippudo already has locations back in the States. But I was still interested in going since I didn't get the opportunity to go during my Japan trip last year. You will find the restaurant on the second floor of Greenbelt 5, a shopping mall in Makati. Next to Chili's, which I'm sure is a familiar name for everyone. There was a bit of a wait since it was busy. Seating was tight because our part of six was smushed into a booth that should probably only accommodate four. A bowl of ramen is about $8-12 USD, on the higher end locally (the average office worker in Manila makes less than $10 an hour). I tried their limited edition (available until April 30) Yakiniku Ramen. The pork bone broth was lukewarm, but the consistency of the Hakata style noodles were great and the soft boiled egg was perfect. The thin slices of pork went well with the teriyaki and spice miso sauce. Philippines 2024 collection: https://www.yelp.com/collection/DHwKzvo7o_ll8jmXFFU3KA/PHIL-2024
