What a gem! It's a at the end of Greene Street, so it's easy to overlook. Modest little hole in the wall with fabulous food, great service and sitting outside is just absolutely wonderful. We stopped here on a quick trip to Silverton while staying in Pagosa Springs. I had the Reuben with potato salad. I am a bit of a potato salad snob; theirs was delicious! Under the radar but probably the best combination of value, good food, and friendliness in this whole tourist trap of a town. Sure, you could go to the old school breakfast places with their "grand" buffets or their ursine ambiance, but you'll pay 10 bucks for greasy eggs and weird meat. Kendall Mountain is another 2 block walk past where most folks stop, and it is so worth it. Simple, short menu. Eggs, burritos, whatever. But it is the huevos rancheros that you want, and the huevos rancheros that will fill you up for long enough to allow you to skip the overpriced ice cream and fudge shops down the street. Mostly traditional breakfast, but don't let that steer you away. It was all cooked to perfection. Wonderful breakfast and we got to watch the lone chef cook our food from where we were sitting. But best of all she saw that we were planning our hike for the day and were, unbeknownst to us, heading toward one of the most packed trails in the area and provided several alternatives, one of which we tried and it ended up being our favorite hike of the trip! I would give them zero stars if I could. We walked in and stood at the door for 10 minutes while we waited to be seated. There were 5 tables open that had yet to be cleaned. When someone finally came over to seat us she rudely told us it would be 15 minutes before we would be seated. I have never been spoke to like that or seen such horrible customer service. Very Cute small town breakfast place. Basic food item. Nothing out of the ordinary. Staff was very nice and quick!

It's a limited breakfast menu but it's really quality food. French toast is great. Breakfast Sammy was surprisingly good and fairly big for being $4.50. Nice outside courtyard seating for you and your pooches if you have them. Beautiful view of Kendall mountain. On vacation in Durango and ventured out to take a look at the smaller towns and found this little gem. The stores apparently alternate who's open at this time of year and this place had good reviews for breakfast so we stopped in.... and it was the only thing open. Great place for breakfast. Excellent simple, fresh lunch! We stopped in today after too long an absence and once again had excellent lunches - outstanding green chili on a hamburger, a BLT and homemade fries, all excellent. The coffee was very good, far superior to the only coffee shop open in early spring. It was one of the very few places open this time of year, but worth visiting any time. Friendly place, but they need some changes. I got a coffee to go and they put it in a styrofoam cup. This doesn't break down in the environment-ever. It also leeches chemicals into the coffee. I drank a few sips- typical diner coffee. Luckily there is a better option in town. read more

From reading the reviews, this place has most likely changed owners. My husband and I were looking for a quick lunch and found this place on our way to Ouray. We mainly were interested b/c of the picnic tables outside and were looking for a place for our 2 year old son to let off some steam from sitting in the car. We walked in the place and there was not one person in there except for a waiter talking to a friend. We glanced at the menu (all american - frito pie, hamburgers, chili) and were not impressed, but the outside area lured us and we were hungry. The waiter had walked outside at this point and a woman came in and took our order. As we were ordering, our son had found an old desk table for children - like one you would see in Little House on the Prarie - there between some of the tables. He sat down at it (it was just his size) and started playing with a plastic apple that was on the table. Let me be very clear about this: This apple was broken, and was a dime store piece of s*&%. I am not kidding when I say a real apple is worth more than this thing. It was already broken and was just laying there on this desk. He (being 2) was interested in it and started playing with it. We wanted to go outside and decided to just let him take it with him. Anyone who has a 2 year old knows that the choice in letting him play with a 10 cent broken thing or making him put it down and come outside with us is a no-brainer. So we go outside with this thing and sit at one of the picnic tables and the woman comes out with our drinks. As she puts them on the table I ask if they have a high-chair. She says no, rudely, and then I say that I thought I had seen one inside. Then she says, again rudely, yes, we have one you attach to a picnic table and then just explodes at us! She starts berating us about taking the apple outside w/o asking and how rude we were and that the desk inside was an antique and I said, I didn't realize the apple was an antique and then she got really pissy with us. I told her that I was sorry and that we weren't planning on taking the apple, we were just letting him play with it and she is just flipping out on us! At that point, my husband says, let's just pay and go and she grabs the drinks back and screams at us to leave. I am not kidding when I say I have NEVER IN MY LIFE been treated like that in a restaurant or any place were I was the customer. It would have been one thing had she said, hey, you took the apple, that was rude, please give it back, but this woman EXPLODED at us like we had killed her cat. So, I can't review the food, but I can say, the customer service not only sucks but is downright scary. read more
