At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back, thinking maybe it was just a faulty sensor, especially since I had gone through a car wash. However, the warning light continued all weekend. On Monday, I took the car to a Mazda dealership, and they confirmed--via video--that the issue was due to not enough oil being added during the service. I shared that video with this shop, and instead of taking accountability and simply refunding the $100, they said they're "investigating." Meanwhile, I had to spend additional time and money fixing their mistake. This was a dangerous oversight on their part and completely unacceptable. The problem was diagnosed, a part was ordered, and I popped by again when I was back in town to get the service done. It turned out the code the reader gave them was not the right one, and despite the fact that the new part had already been installed, Mike and his team did more diagnostics, ran tests on the old part, reinstalled it, and didn't charge me a cent for the service. I expected to at least pay for the 6-8 hours of labor the mechanics did in trying to figure out what was going on, but Mike wouldn't let me pay or even let me tip! His reasoning? "You're paying me to fix your car, and we didn't fix your car." If you're looking for a reliable mechanic who will charge fair prices, get work done in a reasonable amount of time, won't try to upsell you on parts and services you don't need, and will be honest when he doesn't think he can help you, come to Pinecrest Automotive Center!
