Super easy to make an appointment, no biggie, but when I got my Passat back and I opened the trunk the next day I noticed that the diesel additive that goes in my trunk is literally ALL OVER MY CARPET IN MY TRUNK. Hard, compacted, doesn't come off by regular methods. That, paired with the fact that my oil service warning was not reset. (Really?) Never got the feeling of 'up-sale' or 'close' pressure. Rather, he was informative with the options of the vehicle (a new Jetta--white!--a car and color I never considered until he showed me all my options and let me make the decision) and worked with me solo on financing, as well. I write consistent neutral reviews to assure objectivity. With that in mind, I have never had a worse experience on all levels of service, integrity and overall quality. I went to their website directly to book an appointment for my Jetta's 50,000 mile service. I got a specific quote from THEIR DIRECT website. When I called in to inquire about a shuttle service or rental from them, I got not only snarky and very annoyed sounding staff member, but no willingness to help whatsoever considering the service would take three hours. (Not to mention, the first person I spoke with over the phone assured me it would take one to one and a half hour max, later confirmed to be false by the second staff member I spoke with.) He then suggested it was ridiculous for me to expect this, considering my experience at Murdock of Volkswagen was nothing but spectacular, I was surprised. Nevertheless, this wasn't as big of a deal to me as making sure a good service was performed on my car. When I went to ask him if they could price match prices from other Volkswagen Service Centers, he asked me to wait, and then told me that he could take off $100 off my total price. The catch; HE RAISED THE QUOTE I WAS GIVEN BY $100. When I called him out on this, he began to act as if I was the one making a mistake. I don't like it when people give emotional reviews so I took my time to think about this review carefully. AVOID THIS SERVICE CENTER AT ALL COST. While we love the car, a 2019 VW Atlas, I could never purchase a car here again. I have also steered several of my friends away. I really wish u could say something good, but here are my experiences in the little over a year I've had the car. First, the salesman told us to only fill up with premium fuel. My wife did this for almost a year until I filled it up and noticed the sticker behind the gas fill cover and it said to use regular fuel. Hundred of dollars wasted. The first oil change we went to (we pre-paid for 3.....huge mistake), I asked if they would mount the front license plate, not for free mind you, and if they could spray some brake stuff to eliminate a brake squeak. That told me yes to both, but when I picked up the car, neither had been done or communicated as to why they weren't done. The second oil change I asked to get an estimate on a repair. My kids has pushed the rear climate control display into the console. Nothing looked broken and I thought maybe they would charge me 30 minutes of labor to fix it. Nope. They said it was broken, needed a new part, and quoted me 316 dollars. I declined and went home and after some YouTube and trial an error, I had it back to perfect within 45 minutes. Knowing what I know now, I could do it in under 3 minutes, which I'm sure professional mechanics who know the vehicle could even shorten. From buying to my 2 experiences with their service department, I have nothing good to say. I even said all this on the emails they send to rate their service and no one ever contacted me about it. I love this location! I bought my VW at a different Non-VW location and quickly realized that was a mistake. The location mechanics told me that they didn't know how to work on my car. So with intent of going here, I got a recall notice for my car in the mail. Dreading dealing with another set of douche dealership workers I went in. I was wrong, the people here are totally different at least with my experience with the service department. Shane and Thomas are my guys, but everyone I've seen or over heard has amazing CS skills. I recently purchased a smart car from Jonny at ken garff Volkswagen in Orem Utah. I live in Denver so I had to have it shipped everything moved very slowly which would have been okay had I had a vehicle at the time but waiting a month for a car is a bit ridicules. I could have seriously gotten over the month long wait had the car not been wrecked before ever leaving their lot. Jonny told me this car was in perfect condition he said it looked brand new. I'm not exactly sure what ken garff considers to be like new but this car was anything but, for starters it was full of sand, the engine was knocking (due to the wrong gas being put in the tank) and it had been wrecked prior to shipping the ground effects are falling off and the doors paint is all messed up. I expect a like new condition vehicle to come with two keys and an owners. read more

I had a similar problem as was described here. I was given a call by. Te salesman I worked with (Peter) and told they had a car in that I was looking for that they could make me a deal on if I signed that night. I drove the half hour from my house in a snowstorm only to find out that it wasn't actually there but that they had purchased it and it was in California still.... they said if i wasnt satisfied i could get my money back so i purchased a car they said was in transit. I was told it would be in in a week at the latest. Finally at one week I gave them a call. Ryan (the manager) told me he would call the transport company and see where it was at. I didn't receive a call again the entire day so the next mor ing I call and he dodges me until around noon when I finally get ahold of him. He tells me that they were just getting it on the truck and it would be there in a few days which thankfully it was. The bottom line is that they lied to me to get me in and the minute they had my money they forgot about me completely. I wouldn't recommend dealing with these people at all. read more

Absolutely HORRENDOUS service department. After buying a new Jetta from them and owning it for 2 months the trunk latch broke so I took it into customer service. After 2 and a half hours of me sitting in their lobby not knowing what was going on they finally came and got me, telling me it was all fixed. As I was driving away they came running out and said they had confused my car with another and had dismantled some parts. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. A few months after that my windshield cracked in half inexplicably while sitting in a protected parking space. I took it in and they told me "tough luck buddy." Long story short, Ken Garff VW Orem has TERRIBLE SERVICE. If you do decide to shop here, you will regret it if your car ever has any problems. Look elsewhere. read more

Haven't bought a car from them so I can't comment on the sales department, as of the service department that's a different story. Almost every time I call no one answers, and when they do they pick up the phone place you on hold for several minutes. They now offer the "express" service which they promise to get you in and out for tire rotations, oil changes and things of that nature. Well the reality is that the express service is a joke. Last two time I've taken my car for an oil change they told me it would take about an hour, (not much of an express service there) but it actually took over 3 hours!!!!. Do I get an apology or a discount? Nope.They really do need to step it up read more

Just tried to get my 2015 Passat serviced for a air bag recall, they called us, set an appointment, told us it would be all day, said we could have a rental to drive. Drove from Midway, arrived at 7am. Had to continue on to SLC for work with my dog, he was being dropped off at daycare. What a waste of time!! No dogs are allowed in their rentals?? I think that could have been a question that they could have asked at the appointment setting!! Kids and people are far more dirty that dogs!! We had our 2015 Passat repaired for the VW TDI cheat and we had the same dog! And wow! we got to take the rental! It seems they have a whole new crew along with a whole lot of stupid rules! I will never buy a car from them again and can't reccomend that anyone should! Horrible customer service! Great big wast of my time! I'm sure you don't care but you lost a multi VW owner customer! Good place to buy a VW. The customer service was above what I expected and overall we had a pretty good experience buying a car from this dealership. The back and forth on price and then having to go through all the normal extra/finance stuff doesn't make buying a car that great but it's just something that goes along with buying a car I guess. Hopefully this car will get me another 10+ years before I have to go through the buying experience again. read more

These guys are the new way cars should be sold and service should be given. We had our car in the shop for a repair and bought a new Passat so I had the chance to work with sales and service. Every single person I worked with or talk to was respectful and went out of their way to be kind and helpful... Something I never found at Dave Strong (and we've bought 3 cars from them)! When it was time for a new car we knew we wanted another Vw but I was sick to my stomach honking about going back to Dave Strong, and I hadn't heard good things about southtowne or Cutrubus.... So we made the drive from Farmington to Orem, and couldn't be more pleased we found them. The best sales team for me is Sergio and Clint. Top notch guys, truly! Sergio had gone above and beyond to help us find exactly what we wanted, and he worked hard. I can't say enough about this dealership... Changing the car sales business for sure!! read more

I had a great experience here. I told them upfront that I wanted to buy used; unlike almost every other dealer I went to, they didn't pressure me at all to buy new. They didn't use any high pressure tactics but there was the right amount of pressure (continually lowering the payments,etc) that I felt confident I was getting a good deal. I will always remember how the service department at Larry H. Miller Toyota which I now believe is now a Ken Garff changed my opinion about having my car serviced by the dealership. I went to get my New Beetle diagnosed here. They did a decent job of diagnosing but would give me no info. I had to pry any info about the services that they wanted to have done. They would not show me any of the problem areas. When I went to buy the part they treated me as if I didn't exist. Horrible experience. When I went to fix the problem myself, it took a grand total of 10 minutes and the part cost less than $5 and they had wanted to charge me well over $100 for the installation. If I can avoid it I would never get any service done there again. read more

My water pump in my Eurovan went out near the I15 and I70 around 5 pm so I stopped at Fort Cove in the shade and called Ken Garff. I spoke to Sarah who helped me locate a motel close to the dealership and to Peter in the service dept who patiently listened to my car's symptoms. He scheduled me for service the next morning. I got towed by Beaver Valley Chevron 136 miles (thank you AAA) to Orem that evening and was at the service dept early the next morning. Peter greeted me even before the dept was open and got the ball rolling. I know I was given priority because of the circumstance and was very grateful. A few hours later I was on my way to Glacier NP and Jasper. I will never have to stop at Ken Garff VW again but am extremely grateful they were there. read more

Had our Audi towed in from Richfield, over 100 miles, on the advice from James of Central Utah Towing. Not realizing that the Audi portion had moved. The salesman there, it was after 7pm so service staff were gone, said go ahead and leave it there and they would call us in the morning. We checked into a local hotel and waited. Sure enough, 7:45am the phone rang. Thomas let us know that they were bringing an Audi tech over to look at our car. By noon we were informed of the repair needs and estimated cost. They got the work done and we were back on the road by 7pm that night. We were able to continue on our trip to find a new home in Colorado! Before I write a review I wish to state that I first read all the reviews available, I don't know exactly which dealership they visited but the one I am writing a review about is Ken Garff Volkswagon in Orem, the first time to come in contact with this dealership was in August of 2013, right before my 60 birthday. My husband and I went to look at the volkswagon convertible bugs. We parked over by the service department so the sales people would not notice us as we were just looking and I did not want to be bugged, LOL, to buy. well after looking at the blue, black and red bugs, I saw a bright yellow bug with a black convertible top with accent yellow inside the car, dash, ect, I was smitten, this was the bug I wanted. But my husband wanted to see any used bugs available so we wandered over to see them, at that time a salesmen came down the steps and asked can I help you, Long story short we ended up saying well we will see if our credit is responsible enough to even qualify to buy. The man who was helping us was actually the general manager Winston Bennion. he was patient, not aggressive and irritating about the process just took information, wow we qualified! I was so excited and long story short again, my husband bought me the little Rush Yellow convertible Bug. WInston was amazing that he did not rush us to buy, he did not try to convince us to buy cause it was the best deal ever, or if we did not sign today the deals would not be there later, he presented facts and let us decide if it was right for us. He was amazing and informative. Then when we decided to buy he let one of his sales people a young man named Clint McIntosh take care of us further. Clint has become the go to guy when we have any issue whatsoever with my new bug, if I call or come in to the dealership and he cant help me someone else does what they can, but because I love working with Clint so much I will wait for him . About 1 month after I had my car, some one in a parking lot scratched the door and the fender and did not leave information to help me! I was crying when I called Clint, and left him a voice mail, to call me that my Baby Bug was hurt! He within the hour returned my call even though it was his day off, he called me and told me to bring the car in the next morning and he would help me ! And he did, between him and the service department , and body department my Bug is well taken care of. They never make me feel like they took my money and now don't need to listen to me. My husband and I are so proud that we cleaned up our debt credit so that we were able to qualify with the Garff dealership, as it has been so nice to deal with a business that listens and cares. I tell everyone I know who wants to buy a vehicle new or used to try there first, see Winston, or Clint and that the ads are true, they LISTEN & HEAR! If I refer someone there and they don't treat them as I have been treated I would want to know and I would go and make them listen! PS I went in dressed as a wicked witch on Halloween , took pictures and had so much fun, this dealership makes all the negative experiences with car buying I have ever had forgotten. What a stark contrast Ken Garff was compared to our last 6 months of car shopping! We have been to 4 different states, and countless dealerships/ for sale by owners, but have just come away frustrated by hidden fees and pushy salesman. KG of Orem was heaven sent. We did not feel pressured at all, and all prices made sense, and were outlined to us as soon as we walked in. Sergio walked us through the entire process. This was a great aspect of the sale- just working with one person. He was super nice, and was patient with our two little boys. He was very knowledgeable and kind. He has been in contact with us for a couple days now, checking in on us, and making sure our travels were safe. Thank you Sergio, and thank you Ken Garff! We were heard! I'd just like to share my frustration with the Garff Auto Group. Five yrs ago i purchased a car at the Nissan of Orem and was promised that my key fob would be fixed since it was not working. After purchasing the car, they found out the root problem would be too pricey and my issue was never fixed. I Then gave Garff VW Orem a chance one year ago where Winston Bennion (Former GM) promised me that i would be able to simply bring my lease back at no extra charge if i could not afford the payments any more because he was giving me such a good deal. I spoke to him over a chat since i can no longer afford the payments now and he reaffirmed his promise and in no way denied it (i have screenshots of this convo). He asked me to bring the vehicle in to be evaluated, I did so, and was told he would contact me the next day. Over the course of the next WEEK I called HIM 3 times and was told he would call me back. I went in today and was told he no longer works there but had been transferred to downtown SLC Nissan. Furthermore, i was told that because of "unforeseen variables" they would be unable to fulfill Winston's promise to me. I called Downtown Nissan and the receptionist told me she had no one by the name of WInston Bennion working there. Ken Garff may listen... but just enough to respond with what you want to hear and then they follow up by NOT KEEPING THEIR COMMITMENTS and ignoring their customers. Thanks Ken Garff! read more

I put an inquiry on the internet about purchasing a Jetta and I was contacted by 3 Volkswagen Dealerships. I was looking to buy two Jettas. We visited two dealerships. Ken Garff and Southtowne. I was immediately impressed with Chad Tone. He was very down to earth and actually listened to what I needed. He did not try to push me into something I was not interested in. He went above and beyond by working with my crazy schedule. I work full time and I have 7 children at home. Chad was extremely accommodating when I could not personally be on the lot. I dropped my 16 year old son off with him to look at cars and Chad took him seriously and treated him with respect. The next day he worked with my 16 year old son and my 13 year old daughter when they brought down our Honda FIT we were trading in. He also ran finance numbers for me without me even being there. I gave him my personal information over the phone and he ran several scenarios for me on three different cars. He kept me informed via text and helped me secure the two cars we wanted on the lot. He also assured me that if the red sport I wanted got purchased he would find me another one. He did not try to push me into something that he already had on the lot that he knew I would not like. This is in drastic contrast to the experience we had at Southtowne Volkswagen. I clearly told the sales man there that I wanted a bright red (tornado red) car and I specified that I do NOT want a maroon car. He did not have any on the lot, so instead of trying to find me one he kept trying to push other cars on me that I did not want. He said, "Well, what are your 3 other color choices?" I told him I did not want any other color but red. But he did not listen and asked for my three other top color choices again, made some terrible suggestions, and I told him again I wanted red. Then I said, well, I MIGHT consider black if my son does not get a black one. Then he turned to my son and said, "You are NOT getting a black car." He walked me all the way out to a back lot to look at a car that he said was not tornado red, but was not maroon either. It was maroon. I said I did not like it and he said, "I did not think you would." Then why did you waste my time taking me out there to look at it? I was on a very tight schedule and he knew that. Then we went in to talk about financing. I told them I did not have time to do that right now, but I could give them my personal information, they could pull my credit while I am gone and get back to me with some numbers. They refused. They said I had to come back. That did not work for my schedule at all. Meanwhile, Chad was hard at work working up the the financing options for me on a tornado red Jetta Sport and an awesome black Jetta for my son. Chad earned out business by being straight forward and not playing the typical games dealerships play. I help people finance their houses and I felt Chad gave me the personal service I would give my clients. In the end we leased the Red Jetta Sport and bought the Black Jetta SEL. We are very excited about the two beautiful cars and I have already recommended Chad to two of my friends. read more

We a had a TERRIBLE experience here! We wanted to buy our first used car here, because they had the only model we wanted in utah county. While our salesman, Danny, was wonderful, the manager was not. At every turn, he would interject and not let us finish our sentences or actually hear our concerns. I see ads every where for "Ken Garff, we hear you", but I did not feel listened to. We had some issues with the car a few days after purchase, believing that the issues were not caught in the "100 point inspection" done on the car by the company. They immediately blamed the issue on us, even though we had only had the car for 3 days. We took the car for a diagnostic at a private mechanic, which caught a very simple issue that should not have been over looked by Ken Garff. When we informed the company of this they were very rude and sarcastic in their response. I would expect better from a company that has a reputation for listening. read more
