Months ago I had a string in my sunroof that the shade slides back and forth on which snapped. My car was under extended warranty. I brought it KG VW to replace. They replaced the string but reassembled it wrong and the sunroof, which was completely fine before, rattles now. I brought it back 3 times for them to correct. They charged me but didn't fix a thing. Then the Service Manager, without looking at my car or the service record, insisted they didn't take the sunroof off. They refused to extend my warranty coverage by calling the problem they created a "pre-existing condition." Also charged me $1300+ for oil change and $80k standard checkup. I took my car to Southtown VW. COMPLETELY different experience. The Service Manager told me that the ONLY possible way to get replace the little string was to take the sunroof off. KG Service Manager straight up lied. I just bought another car. I avoided KG VW entirely because of the incompetent, irresponsible, and dishonest Service Department there. read more

Purchased a vehicle 12/15, paid in full. April 1 now, and STILL no license plates or title. Temp plates expired, 2nd temp plates expired... can't even drive the car legally now. Have called 15+ times over the past 2 months (2-3 times a week) and can't ever get a call back or any action or information. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED... Did not have a great experience. My husband purchased a vehicle from Ken Garff Orem and the service is awful. They gave us a temporary tag till our plates came, the day rolled around to when the temporary tag expired. No plates have arrived. Called the dealership and told us to call the DMV. Called the DMV and they said Ken Garff hasn't even submitted our paperwork and to contact them again. On top of them messing up our paperwork a week after purchasing the car they had us come back in to do emissions testing which they claimed they did before selling us the car. Took Annabella FIVE days to contact my warantee company when all it should have taken was a phone call or two and a google search. Off the bat, she me it would be an $150 diagnostic fee and when I got my invoice, it was more than that. My car is a manual and when Annabella pulled it into the service center, I watched her let it roll SEVERAL feet. Enough that I started yelling with concern. It would be a waste of time and money to bring my vehicle here again not to mention an actual risk to the condition of my car. They did wave the materials fee because I had to argue that they didn't do any work to it so what materials were used. That was appreciated. read more

I am not one to usually leave reviews but I was turned away from taking my car here because of the bad reviews and I wanted to add my experience to the pot! I finally broke down and went here and it was the best experience with a mechanic by far!! I had have several major things break on my Tiguan and took it to 4 mechanics in 2 months and still didn't fix the problem. The workers here were attentive, their ability to fix the problems were very good. they didn't change me for anything extra, used their time wisely (was able to fix the actual problem within the hour for the diagnostic) and the workers at the desk were all very phenomenal! would absolutely recommend taking your volkswagen in! read more

Worst experience ever. After offering a price to us we said we would think about it and get back to him (after being bullied by several sales people). Then when we inquired about purchasing a day or two later all of a sudden " the manager said the deal was too low". They only said that once they found out the other car we went to look at fell through. So it was either pay way above value for a car that already had some damage, or look elsewhere. Because of all of these experiences we didn't feel as though our salesman was trustworthy. So we went with a different company. read more

I brought my 2014 Volkswagen Passat here expecting expert service and careful diagnostics. After a recall near the driver side door, the door failed the next day and I had to pay to fix it. Months later my car shut off on the freeway. I asked for a full diagnosis and raised the idea that it was the alternator, but was told it was just the battery. I paid about 400 dollars for a battery swap and no real root cause analysis. The car died again, same story, until a later visit where once again my car dies on the freeway putitng my life at risk. They finally confirmed the alternator had failed and I was quoted about 1700 dollars. Right after that repair my car began overheating, a problem that did not exist before. When I suggested a coolant hose might have been disturbed during the alternator job, the service advisor dismissed it. In my experience this shop repeatedly treated symptoms, missed the root cause, and returned my car with a new issue. I would not return and do not recommend this service department. read more

This was the third Utah dealership we've purchased a car from. We've also purchased from several in other states. I can honestly say that this was the best car buying experience I've ever had. I was used to a salesperson doing an obligatory introduction to a sleazy sales manager, having to go back and forth on the price, having to negotiate out of hidden fees, dealing with a pushy finance person, all while being stressed over a large financial decision. That was not the case here. For starters, everything was low pressure. My salesperson, Collin, did not push anything on me. The finance manager walked me through the usual add-ons, but they were simple to decline. I never had to deal with anyone else, which was great. Also, the price on the used car I was interested in was already very competitive after looking around the market. Their website offered both Carfax and the original window sticker, which helped immensely in my market research. They honored the listed price without requiring their own financing or a trade in, another huge plus. Finally, and this was especially important to me, they didn't tack on any silly extras by default like "VIN etching", the type of thing other dealerships have pulled on us. Lastly, our salesperson Collin helped me through an odd situation where I couldn't complete the purchase that evening and offered to assist me in getting a ride home. He didn't have to do that, but he and the finance person offered without hesitation. That was very cool. read more

I tried to get Austin Mahony, my sales representative, to fix the 12 volt before I signed any papers. He shoved me off. I sat there in silence because I didn't know how to respond to his straight up rejection as someone who was supposed to be trying to sell me a car. He broke the silence and finally said he could do it right now but acted perturbed. My boyfriend noticed the tire light was on. My boyfriend asked Austin to have the service guys look at it before we drove it off the lot. All he said he did was fill up the tire with air. I drove it home. My boyfriend checked the pressure and it said 6 PSI. He had to put a spare on it so I could drive it back in the morning. We found a nail in the tire. Also, when Austin was selling me up on the warranty, he told me it was $2,000. I asked him again before I said yes to buying the warranty, "So it's $2,000?" Austin said yes. It ended up being $2,500. So he lied about the price. $500 makes a difference in my decision to buy the warranty or not. I have tried calling the normal customer service number and it takes me 5 calls before anyone ever answers. I will never go here ever for any of my car service needs after being done with this mess. Bought a gti from here. Had issues 2 months in with misfires, clogged catalytic converter and engine issues. I definitely got "got" when I purchased my car. I'd taken my car in at least 5 times for the same turbo underboost fault that wasn't resolved any time. The final time I left my car with them they held it for 2 weeks without reaching out, once I did they let me know that I should try a cat cleaner and they did no work k on it the entire time. Thanks for the lesson Ken Garff, but I'd rather drag my face through 10 miles of broken glass than deal with your sales and service team ever again. read more

I had my Jetta serviced here today and really pleased with this place! I made an easy appointment online for routine maintenance. Dropping the car off was a quick exchange and I received text updates. They were responsive when I asked to add on services that I forgot to mention while in person. I was able to do more than I planned for while getting my car back-- I was able to quickly pay and receive my updated Utah registration. I didn't even know you could do that at auto service centers. This made me really happy to avoid going to the dmv or another place for emissions or using the archaic website to pay the fees! You can tell the people working there are really respectful and courteous to their customers' needs. This was really refreshing after my nightmarish experience at a different Volkswagen service center. I will be going here for all of my car's needs in the future! read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but this situation was frustrating enough I feel like I need to. My Passat TDI broke down, towed it 2.5 hours to Ken Garff in Orem. Even though my warranty says everything with the injectors and fuel system is covered, the claim was denied because the initial part that failed was the bold that holds down the injectors. Seems like it's all just semantics to me at that point, but oh well. I can get over the denied warranty coverage. What happened next is where my real frustration kicked in. I was told that the only way to fix my car at this point was to replace the entire cylinder head. Not because anything with the cylinder head was actually wrong.... but because that aforementioned bolt that holds down the injectors was broken off in the cylinder head, and according to their mechanic, it's "impossible to get out". and the "only way to fix the car now is to replace the whole cylinder head". About $3,000 in parts and another $3,000 in labor. Luckily I trusted my gut and took it back to a local mechanic instead. He said it was worth trying to just get the broken bolt out. Sure enough he was able to get it out. And when I asked him how hard it was to remove he told me he literally twisted it out with his fingers. No tools required. Long story short my car is running great again without all the expensive parts and labor of replacing the entire cylinder head. While I'm really glad the fix was much easier and less expensive than what Ken Garff told me, it makes me wonder how often they tell customers the "only way" to fix their car is though a much more expensive repair than necessary. The next step I took was to call VW Customer Care to make an official complaint about what happened. I didn't really expect anything to be done about it, but thought I'd at least get a phone call saying "we're sorry about what happened". Nope, not even that. At this point customer care tells me the complaint has been passed on to the dealership, and apparently they aren't even interested enough to call me to talk about it. I'll be taking my car to a different VW dealership from now on. read more

FEMALES BEWARE! Wolves in sheep's clothing If you are a woman and interested in getting your car serviced, look elsewhere. Ken Garff VW uses predatory practices to take advantage of women only reinforcing the stereotype that women are not safe when going to get a car repaired. My wife recently went in with our twin 2 year old boys to get a simple oil change and to change the air filters. This in total should have only been around $150. The service manager recommended an additional $450 of service, which were NOT required as she was told but only recommended. She was made to feel as though she couldn't leave without getting the extra unneeded service. She was pressured into agreeing to the extra expense and She came home feeling taken advantage of and frustrated. When I called in to address the situation, they refused my request and told me that if I came in they would have me escorted off of the premises. Ken Graff has literally demonstrated the old stereo types of predatory car dealerships. Dishonest practices that target unsuspecting women. If this is how Ken Garff practices business, taking advantage of young mothers, then I would recommend that everyone stay away. This is no way to treat customers. read more

Do not have these guys work on your car they will break it. Long story but here I go. First time I took my car to them because my front end was shaking, they told me there was nothing wrong and my brakes and rotors looked fine. Shrugged it off and went home. It started getting worse so I took it in on my oil change and told them about the issue again. The guy behind the front desk said he recommended I made a appointment with a lead tech. Also, he said my water pump was leaking so he recommended to fix that too. I said ok sounds good my cars under warranty so why not. So the third time now I drive my car to Orem Volkswagen drop my car off and they keep it for a day to work on it in the morning. The next morning comes and I get a text after work saying my cars done so I get a ride down there now 4 times and I live in Salt Lake. Get my car and I smell a very strong smell of what I thought was antifreeze. I Brush it off thinking that maybe they spilled some during the installation and its just burning off. 1 week later still stinks and now its started to give me a head ache. So I call up the dealership again and they suggest I bring it in so I drive down there the 5th time now. Drop it off for another day so they can look at it the next morning. The next day i get off work and I don't receive any message or calls about my car. So I text the Service advisor I think his name was Dennis he said we can't find no leaks or anything. I said does it still stink he said we cleaned around the engine it should be good. So i go to pick up my car, drive home and it still stinks. So I decide to go to less Schwab's they said they don't know much about antifreeze smells. So i decided to let them check out the shaking in the front end. They told me the rotors where bad so I said ok lets fix it. Now the front end don't shake when I brake, and it drives like a dream. So Ken Graff Volkswagen you didn't want my money?Why didn't they know the rotors where bad? There vw technicians, and they looked at it twice. So I start to think do these guys even know what there doing, and I take my car to local mechanic to check out the smell. And can you believe they find that my main gas engine hose was leaking so I wasn't smelling antifreeze it was gas. Which could of caused a fire while driving. My car was perfect in tell they fixed the water pump. Whats funny when I went to pick my car up the service advisor Dennis told me my car was safe to drive and sometimes it takes a bit for the smell to burn off. How can you miss a huge gas hose leaking right above the water pump?Ill say it again your vw techs all you do is work on volkswagen. I don't know if this was intentional or a mistake. All i know is I will never bring my car to this place again, and i wouldn't trust these guys with nothing. Hey at least I got my dream car from this dealership the car buying experience was very good. Too bad the service department is horrible, and extremely shady. If I had the money and time I would probably sue this horrible service department. read more

My wife took her brand new 2022 volkswagen Atlas for a routine oil change and the service department failed to do the job my wife drove home and warning sign on the dash said no oil shut engine off immediately I checked the oil and to my surprised there was no oil I called the service department and they were closed spoke to a sales manager and asked for a loaner till car gets towed and fixed needless to say the we're no help so now we're stuck because they weren't professional enough to do the job correctly I don't recommend using the service department at the orem ken garff volkswagen location very disappointing and unprofessional. read more
