This is the ham lovers breakfast plate. The ham was a 1 pound slice.

A great clean restaurant with absolute home cooking at a reasonable price and service was excellent

The portions of food were HUGE and tated amazing. Wanted some Texas country cooking good and they truly delivered. The food is cooked fresh and tasted liked every made some scratch. The soft bread roola ans corn bread before the main course were delicious. I couldn't finish half of my plate. The outside of the restaurant looks very ordinary and old, but don't let that fool you. If you are looking for old-fashion country cooking food at very reasonable prices, this is a must stop place. Just be ready to take home leftovers. I will definitely come back here when in the area. Thank you Shala-Mae, our waitress, for your warm and excellent xustomer service.

Size of ring on small bread plate for size comparison.

First visit. Location is a little sketch but its an older location I think. Ordered the Captains Fish Platter. It was huge!! Three giant pieces of catfish and two sides. I got coleslaw and fries. We also got a small order of onion rings which were fantastic. They serve cornbread and rolls to table which were also good. Brother had Chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn. It too was giant!! Service was ok, we had to wait a bit for waitress to come back by and ask for togo containers. Overall food was ok. Typical diner type food. Not bad, not fantastic but good in a pinch and you certainly won't leave hungry. Plenty of options to choose from including daily specials.

Sausage side

If you are anywhere near any of these locations it is a must try. But get there early if you will miss out on their fantastic biscuits. The service was great and they are so nice. It's a nice country restaurant. If you order plan on taking half of it home or it's a must to share portions are huge.

Good service, great portions but the taste is a hit and miss depending on what you order. Pro tip.. get your gravy on the side. The gravy was not good the day we visited but unfortunately we forgot to ask for it on the side as we normally do and it was all over. I think next time we're just gonna stick with our regular and stop venturing into the menu. Lol. Corn bread and rolls are so good so there's that!

First off All, Ms. Louis is the kindest soul and friendliest person ever! Now, more about the place, tons of parking, right off of 45, and if you don't know- the portions are reallllllll COUNTRY! Texas style! Sad face is everything went up in price, but as you can see no stars were taken away because you still get MORE THAN ENOUGH FOOD. I ordered Togo. Big mistake. I kept having to look down because once I checked my food to make sure it was correct, the rest was History! Go get you a baked potato nowwwww!

I will say it's not the best tasting place I've ever eaten but the price to portion Are well worth it. My wife and I can go to eat for 30$ and have e night for the meal there breakfast the next day and dinner the next night and we are totally full each time. If you leave this place hungry you got the wrong place

Clean restaurant, nice atmosphere. Service was just OK. When I walked in I stated hello to the…read moreserver, waiting for a response from her and after a few awkward seconds of looking at me she finally stated, how many? Really, that was my welcome? The restaurant had a few customers for the early Saturday morning. I was sat at a table that was very wobbly. The server had to notice because she moved the table around before seating me. Really, all these empty tables and you sit me at the wobbly one. I ordered a hot tea and ice water. The water for the tea tasted like it came from the coffee pot. Restaurants need to learn not to use the same pot for hot water that is used for coffee. I get bad indigestion if I drink any amount of coffee. So much so I now state I am allergic to coffee. So restaurants, please stop mixing the pots without doing a deep cleaning. I also ordered "The Southerner". It has 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs over medium served on a split biscuit, covered with sausage gravy and a side of grits. I requested the gravy to be on the side. The eggs were cooked great, sausage patties also great. The biscuit they were on had an odd taste. Didn't taste like the biscuits were baked, maybe fried? That would probably explain the biscuit being tough. The sausage gravy was not good. The gravy was thin/runny with cut up pieces of the sausage patties, but it lacked the sausage flavor. The grits were also very soupy. I had pushed my full cup of hot tea to the edge of the table, the server either didn't notice or just didn't care. I was only asked once if I was needing anything else, and since she didn't ask about my full cup of tea, I wasn't going to say anything. When she came over to the table she asked if I needed anything, I stated No, I am done. She asked if I wanted my check, and I paid my tab. They do advertise Bloody Mary's and other breakfast cocktails but I didn't have any of those. The location is good, area outside for the kids to run and play. Seating outside also to watch the kids. I think I would only return to this place if I am invited out to brunch with my group of friends. Otherwise, would be a long while before I return, being hopeful things have improved.

We had a great Sunday brunch experience at Brick and Spoon in Texas City. Unlike most Houston bunch…read morespots, we didn't have to wait to be seated -- Got there at around 10:30am and immediately got seated at a table for two! They have an incredible selection of Bloody Mary's and they can even be customized with tons of toppings. I stuck with water this go around but ordered the Grown Up Grilled Cheese with fries. The toast was perfectly toasted and the ingredients on the grilled cheese made for a perfect brunch sandwich. Fries were super crispy and yummy too. This is a great spot for anyone who enjoys a good local spot with fresh menu options for sweet or savory preferences. Great atmosphere and nicely decorated. Highly recommend. Only reason for 4 stars is the wait staff was a bit all over the place but I'm sure it was just them trying to remain on top of providing a quick brunch service.
