I am a food snob, but this place is like a hole in the wall with homemade burgers. Very good.

If you ever find yourself in the glamorous city of La Marque, Leo's is a definite lunch stop. They are cash only and closed on Sundays.

Jlb Eatery - Crazy Burger Combo

Very friendly service willing to help new customers with suggestions. She suggested as a first timer to get a burger. I chose the Crazy Burger. She warned me it was a large serving. Crazy Burger-Double beef patty, grilled onions, bacon, & thousand island. I made it a combo with Fries and a drink. My wife got the Bacon Avocado Chicken Wrap. Also in a combo but with Fresh cut Onion Rings. This burger was massive. Bigger than my open hand. The burgers had a perfect crust on them. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The wrap was perfect. Very filling and full of flavor. The onion rings were fresh cut with a light batter coating. This was a great first impression. Definitely on the return list. If you're in La Marque, Texas swing by and leave with a full belly.

Rose Garden went out of business a few years ago, and in its place rises JLB Eatery. Based on what I could gather online, there are quite a few JLBs in Greater Houston, with this location likely the newest one. No. 15 to be exact, per the extremely kind Ms. Kara, the franchisee. The eatery serves the usual American favorites such as fast food and seafood in a laid back setting. Given its the second Friday of Lent, my mom and I came here determined to try the timeless British classic, fish and chips. JLB has three options for the item, and we went with the one-piece just to be on the safe side. I admit, I was expecting my meal to be small, but my eyes lit up when the waitress brought us our baskets. Instead of one piece, each had two, which were prepared in Cajun cornmeal batter per Ms. Kara's recommendation, lying on a bed of fries. Also included were onion rings, a hush puppy, and toast. I'm delighted to say that we immensely enjoyed our orders. The fish didn't even taste like fish, but like chicken. It was nicely done as were the accompanying sides. Portions size, huge enough for an individual meal to where it could feed two people. My assumption is that if the F&C is great, the other items on the menu would be on par or better. However, I have to wait until after Easter to find out if the burgers and chicken are also worth it. Ms. Kara is a joy to talk to. Let me assure you that she'll take care of you if you stop by here.

I've been coming here for many years and my most recent visit reminded me why it's stuck around for so long. We came in for lunch on a weekday. While there wasn't a wait, it was still fairly busy with tables moving in and out. The setting is super casual - laminated menus are at the table for use. Our server this time was Kayla, who was super friendly and efficient. I normally go for the Squealer, which is almost a standard burger with lettuce, tomato, and pickles; however the burger patty is sprinkled with bacon throughout. Can you imagine just how great that smells and tastes!? The rest of the table ordered that, but this time I decided to venture out. I went for the Rodeo Burger (Southern), which comes with bbq sauce, bacon, jalapeños, cheese, and topped with their Hula Hoops (onion strings). The burger was SO BIG when it came out, they had to place the top bun next to the burger. I struggled to fit this one into my mouth, as it was so big. But delicious! The patty was juicy and all of the toppings brought the southern flavor together well. For sides, we got the Fried Mushrooms, Onion Rings, Tater Tots, and Sweet Potato Fries. Super healthy, I know. But so dang good. Everything was crispy and steaming hot as you bit into it. All of the sides are very reasonably priced - the mushrooms were under $7 and the rest were even cheaper than that for generous portions. Our table of 4 struggled to finish these, as we were already pretty stuffed from our burgers. I will always appreciate Tookie's for a solid burger in the Clear Lake/Seabrook neighborhood. Aside from the burgers, don't sleep on the amazing patio that looks out to the Kemah marina if the weather is nice!
