This is my favourite Asian gelato spot in Toronto. I loved the location that was at Spadina and queen. I've been coming there for many years and I had a lot of points redeemed. My favourite flavours are the jasmine green tea and the Jong king milk tea. The flavours are so strong and they don't taste like it's store bought. You can truly tell that they make theirs from scratch. My family also loved the durian flavour. It's a flavour that I don't see often in gelato spots. Kekou is located along Yonge, between Finch Station and North York Centre Station along the subway line. I've been to their locations when they opened in Baldwin Village as well as around Queen and Spadina. This Kekou location is takeout only where you order via a kiosk in the store. I've been here plenty of times. Kekou is well known for their take on Asian-inspired gelato flavours (think black sesame, durian, green tea, jasmine, HK milk tea, etc.). Personally, my favourite is the jasmine tea. You can also purchase pints as well if you'd like. During the many times I've been here, the kiosk ordering is efficient and service is fast. The gelato tastes great on a hot summer day. Sometimes I find that some flavours sell out quickly which is unfortunate. The tea based flavours all had strong tea flavours which I liked and the coconut was exactly what I expected in a pleasant way. The shop only operates with through tablet ordering to minimize contact. The shop is small and more of a takeout place however there are some seating areas outside around the area. Pretty good but a bit overhyped. Kekou is ok but I've had better. I think my main problem is I like my flavours strong, and Kekou is a bit too subtle for me. I like how they tried to innovate - gelato on a bed of tapioca, a "flight" consisting of three flavours, etc - but at the end of the day, for me it's about how much I like the gelato. Tried 4 flavours: almond tofu, rosewater pistachio, durian, HK milk tea. I liked the durian the most because, while it was subtly flavoured like the rest, it at least had a strong aftertaste kick at the end. Anyway , Kekous wasn't bad, just personally not for me. So when you feel down and absolutely crappy, what is better then having a Gelato for lunch. They are known for the gelato. I miss this store located at Queen St. West. Now it's amazing, how it's nice and close to where I live, walking distance. There is one touch screen where you select your owner and make the payment. Nice and fast process. Kekou downtown at Spadina and Queen was one of my favourite spots of ice cream, so when I found out they opened a location in North York, I had to check it out! They setup a couple of systems for customers to place their order and pay which is perfect for contactless order. It's very efficient and safe for days like these now! I ordered their rosewater pistachio flavoured ice cream. I was a little disappointed as I feel the pistachio flavour isn't strong enough. It felt like they put too much milk and diluted the flavour. This review is for their rosewater pistachio. Pistachio gelato is my favourite so I was excited to try it! You can definitely taste the rosewater but the pistachio flavour is very mild. So so incredibly happy there's a location in North York now! Kekou has always been my go to ice cream place downtown and now that I can get there in 10 mins I'll definitely be back more often. There are kiosks inside this tiny store where you can order on your own (the interface is a little confusing but you can always ask the staff for help). There was a line but moved quite quickly. Their flavour selection is limited but they had two special flavours for this month. They also had their standard HK milk tea and vietnamese coffee which I'd pass on since the flavours are quite weak. We went for the peanut sesame and it was ok. It was a little gritty but that's to be expected given the flavour that was chosen. Their ice cream is not on the creamy or milky side and the flavours are subtle. You can ask for a stamp card when you pick up your order if you think you'll be a frequent customer. read more

My friend and I visited their new spot. I got 2 scoops in a cup - Earl Grey and Hazelnut Goji Berry. I had to get my hands on their boba too so I got their Hojicha Milk Tea with tapioca. Earl Grey: Price: $4.60 Rating: 9/10 This was my fave flavour - it was rich and you could really taste the earl grey. It had a strong and authentic earl grey taste Hazelnut Goji Berry: Price: $4.60 Rating: 7.5/10 This was an interesting combo of nuts and berries; I recommend if you like nuts and berries. I liked this flavour but it was a bit too sweet for me Hojicha Milk Tea: Price: $4.60 Rating: 7.5/10 This was a refreshing and tasty drink. I love gelato from Kekou so when I saw they were selling bubble tea too, I knew I had to try. Unfortunately, I was not a huge fan of this Saigon Fog bubble tea. The tapioca was soo sweet like they stayed in brown sugar syrup too long and it made my whole drink taste mostly like syrup. read more

What a lovely little ice cream shop! We came here after filling up on Korean barbecue and I was very much in love with the ice cream. We got the sample platter (around $8) which came with three smaller scoops - we picked their peanut sesame (my favourite!), vietnamese coffee, and hazelnut goji berry. They were all delicious! Like others I have fond memories of going to Kekou on Queen St west for their wonderful selection of gelato. This new location is about 1/10 the size of the old one. Flavours are still good though less intense. Unfortunately the selection now offered has also been downsized. Sadly they no longer 'bars' of their more popular flavours which were good value. Scoop size is also less generous looking more like a kiddie scoop. Sure space is limited and at a premium, Covid and all but in the end I miss the old Kekou. Is was worth the trip. read more

I got the opportunity to try Kekou's HK Milk Tea and Rosewater Pistachio flavours. In general, both flavours tasted great and was nice after a big dinner. When we arrived, it was about 30 minutes before closing and it wasn't particularly busy. The unit itself is quite small and can only fit maybe 4 people at a time, so you'd be expected to wait in line outside if it gets busy. The ordering system is self-serve at one of 2 point-of-sale kiosks - place your order and then just wait for your name to be called. The Rosewater was a lighter flavour and somewhat subtle. The HK milk tea was much stronger in flavour and it made me feel like I was going to have trouble sleeping that night (which is what I expect when I drink HK milk tea). I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Kekou but if I happen to be in the area I would definitely stop by. read more

Was soo excited to hear that kekou was opening in north york as the existing locations are in dt only. Store is super small so even when covid is over there is basically little to no space to sit and chill inside in comparison to the dt locations. Came on a friday night and it was packed. Disappointed as the flavors available was not reflective of what was posted on their ig. My absolute favorite is almond tofu!!
