This was our first mattress purchase from Keetsa and we were appalled by the terrible customer service. The purchase itself went great, we were happy with the Tea Leaf Classic, and felt good about spending more for a quality mattress. That is, until the mattress was to be delivered. We were told that with the Fedex delivery option we would receive an email with shipping confirmation and delivery tracking information, so we could arrange to be home when the shipment arrived - as one would expect with any typical delivery. However, this email never came, and the mattress arrived earlier than we had been told. The only reason we found out it was delivered was because we called the store to follow up on the tracking number - only to realize the mattress had been sitting outside our house for 5 hours already. We hadn't moved in to the new place yet and were not able to be at the house since this was unexpected. We called the Keetsa store to see if there was anything they could do to help (we live in Berkeley, packages left out overnight are usually stolen). Charles, the store representative working on Sep 20 at Keetsa Berkeley location, was extremely unhelpful. He essentially told us that there was nothing Keetsa could do, it was not their responsibility, and if the mattress was stolen, to file a claim with Fedex. His response was completely inconsiderate and lacked any empathy whatsoever - we had just spent a lot of money on a mattress; the last thing we wanted to deal with is a lengthy claims process through Fedex and not having a mattress at our new house. The utter lack of customer service was extremely shocking since this was a mistake on Keetsa's part (failing to notify us that the shipment had been sent out, failing to send a tracking number, etc.). We ended up having to cancel our plans and rushing to the house last minute to fetch the mattress. Cannot speak for all the store representatives but the after-sales service we received from Charles at the Berkeley location was appalling and I would never recommend anyone to go to the Berkeley CA store and to avoid Charles at all cost. If you're going to spend this much money on a mattress, go elsewhere where you'll be treated with respect and consideration. read more

The customer experience with Keetsa was great starting from the low pressure sales room visit, to ordering online, etc. However, we've been sleeping on our Tea Leaf Supreme for 2 months and have both developed back pain. I've slept on memory foam mattresses from other manufacturers so I was a bit surprised. A recent 3 day trip with a hotel stay where we had no back pain issue confirmed what we had been suspecting. I have never returned a mattress before so it's not a decision I made lightly. The Keetsa rep I spoke to said that we could swap out our current mattress for another model ONE TIME. Since we weren't sure it was the model mattress or the brand that was troublesome we decided that for a $1900 purchase it wasn't worth the risk of getting another mattress that didn't work for us and then not have any further option to change. We opted for a straight return (minus the 10% they ding you for doing so) and happily the whole process went smoothly with no drama. They scheduled someone to pick up the mattress and I saw the refund just a few hours later. I loved the idea of supporting a newer "eco" company, but I was always troubled that their product was made in China. Third party testing is great, but doesn't ensure continued compliance as other major brands have discovered. Love the idea of this company, but it just didn't work out for us! read more

I've had my mattress for eight months now, and loving it. I am 51, have a torn disc in my lower spine, and used to wake up with a sore back. Not anymore. The service is great, and the green component is not over-hyped: - innovative packaging with no truck needed - warranted for 20 years! Sleep train mattresses in similar price range are warranted for 3-5 years. Durability counts. - no box spring means 50% less stuff - yes, there's foam. But with 8% natural oil mixed in, and they are trying for more. The single negative reviewer didn't purchase the product. He's just dumping on the company. read more

This was a great mattress buying experience. Everyone was really nice, they let us spend as long as we wanted lying on all the beds. I love the bed we ended up with, and for a solid block of memory foam it is really not that expensive. I also have a better pillow now. And did i mention the memory foam? Ahhh, so comfy. Our shopping experience was great at the Keetsa store in Berkeley. Robert really helped us and worked with us the whole time. We've just bought a Keetsa Plus Twin size mattress for our 4 years old. We had been doing co-sleeping until then and the transition went very smoothly. My son loves his new own bed/mattress. I've had to lie down with him for him to fall asleep and I find the mattress very comfortable. The memory foam pillow we got also feels wonderful. The purchase went very smoothly. I had researched the products online but we tried every mattress in the store. By the way, they cost a little bit less in the store than if you purchase them online. And since they are compressed for packaging they easily fit in the trunk of a sedan. read more

So we needed a new mattress seeing how my boyfriend and I along with our 90 pound dog were unpleasantly sharing a more then funky queen sized excuse for a bed. So after a recommendation from a friend we headed to Keetsa to check out their "eco-friendly" beds. The sales person (Robert) was super friendly and mellow no hard sale, and seeing that we were not the type to make our own granola he sold us more on durability and comfort. We settled on the Tea Leaf Supreme after laying on all the beds repeatedly. They definitely gave us all the time we needed to make our very important decision and at no time did we feel pressured or steered to a more expensive model. We have had the bed for about a week and are all very pleased we also got pillows which are amazing I notice we all toss and turn a lot less even the dog and I havent woken up stiff or sore since we made the switch. A side note our dog Monkey loved Robert which is always a good sign because she is a great judge of character. read more

This is a great mattress! It's the perfect balance of softness and support. No more backache!! I managed the box OK; thought it was really a good design; complete with wheels. Make sure to believe the people in the store when they say the box is heavy. You wouldn't realize that from just wheeling it. Store personnel were friendly and helpful. I actually enjoyed the shopping experience. Only thing is that if I were to do it again, I wouldn't buy the mattress cover. The microfiber works, I guess, but polyester fabric and my wonderful natural mattress don't go together. But... I got a repsonse to this post from the store owner with a great offer, and when I decided ultimately that I didn't want the cover or the special warranty I got an immediate response to my email, a refund, and the store personnel even recognized me and called me by name when I went down to return the cover. So.... 5 Stars!!! read more

As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" I've been in need of a new mattress and the experience of shopping for one has been an adventure. I thought Keetsa was different from the other 3 retailers I visited in Emeryville but not .... 1) Pay for the extra $$$ and get a quality mattress, you owe it to yourself 2) Keetsa claims that there mattresses are "Eco Friendly" because they use recycled innerspring but, and I do mean BUT, so does the other guys. With all innerspring mattresses all the metal are recycled. I guess Keetsa is trying to act like they started something new but in fact the mattress industry has been using recycled metal for years, decade and so forth. 3) Keetsa is just capitalizing on our concern for our environment. They say they use green tea oil to control the "odor" of the mattress .... that's when I 86'd the place. If they have to use a deodorant to control a smell, it's not for me. 4) It's made in China, who knows whats in it. Remember all the lead, formaldehyde and other chemicals they found in toys, and various products being made in China? For all we know, it's being made by an underage gymnasts who didn't qualify for the Olympics, lol!!! I guess what iiiirrrrkkkkkked me about this place is that they make it seem like there consciously doing something different but to me their not. It's just being marketed differently. The Tea Leaf Supreme mattress with topper gave us 3 good years, but it developed a significant sagging area and began to give one of us back pain (which went away with a new mattress). It seemed that sag wasn't just because of the topper, but also the mattress itself. Also -- and this is not a criticism of Keetsa -- we found that memory foam had some major drawbacks -- it was way to hot to sleep on in the summer and it's also very hard to turn over on it. read more

The mattresses are affordable and I love that they are eco-friendly. However, I'm not a fan that they nearly screwed me over. We ordered a murphy wall bed, and were searching for a mattress to go with it. We went in and explained that we were getting this bed, and needed a mattress under 11 inches. The employee was super helpful and immediately explained which beds fit the bill. We tried them out and found one we liked. Because the price was good and it was eco friendly, and we could fit it in our prius, and didn't need to order, can just go in a buy it, walk out with it, we chose to go with it. The bed was not being delivered for another 2 months, so we waited (the runner up bed we chose at another, commercial, distributor, required a month's notice for shipping). 2 months later we walk in, buy the bed, and as soon as they hand me the receipt with all the warranty information I notice that murphy wall beds VOIDS THE WARRANTY. I was pissed! Apparently their eco friendly glue is not as strong as the commericial ones, so you can't leave the bed on its side for long or it will come apart. Now, it was too late to buy the other bed from the other location I wanted, but their bed would not work! The employees were sorry, but in the end still screwed us over royally. I felt lied and cheated to, and made them void the payment and take their mattress back. read more

This afternoon, I had an unfortunate exchange with a Keetsa Eco-Mattress employee in front of the showroom on San Pablo in Berkeley. He had been hosing down the sidewalk for several minutes, which I observed when I pulled up to park for the nearby post office and spent a couple of minutes listening to the end of a news item on the radio. He continued to spray the sidewalk as I got my packages out of the trunk. Since California has been under water restrictions during a long drought, and our wet October has transitioned to an extensive, record-breaking heat spell for November, I felt compelled to say something. So I stopped and expressed my confusion about his watering the sidewalk in front of an eco-mattress store. I asked if he thought it was a good use of water, and he replied rather testily, "I think you're making a really big deal out of something that's not, and that there are much better ways for you to spend your time." I replied that I think engaging my fellow citizens in conversations about the choices we make is actually a really good use of time, and I was sorry he didn't agree. I walked away thinking that this gentleman -- slim, gray haired -- either did a disservice to the Keetsa eco-brand, or that the company's eco-brand goes no further than their profit margin. I purchased a Keetsa mattress in 2013 which I have been very happy with, super comfortable and guests love sleeping on it! When I began rearranging bedroom configurations I decided to purchase a twin bed. After about a month it became clear that the twin was just not big enough to accommodate. Full of trepidation I called to inquire about returning this mattress. They could not have been nicer! They arranged for a pick up and other than a 10% recycle fee I received a full credit. I wasn't even charged for the pick up!!! This kind of KIND customer service is almost unheard of in today's world. It is my pleasure to enthusiastically endorse the Keetsa buying experience. I have to admit that when I saw that Keetsa was a Yelp sponsor, I was skeptical about all their high reviews. I went in thinking that it was all hype and lots of marketing dollars. But after one visit, I was sold. The sales guys are so nice and down to earth. They really believe in their products and they don't pressure you at all. And they weren't middle aged men in cheap suits,...they were college students (which for some reason seemed less intimidating). Robert helped us and he was awesome. He remembered us when we came back months later. We felt very confident that if there were any problems, he would work hard to resolve them. He was also very generous about giving us extra pillows when the wrong order came in for us, and he even offered to drive it to us personally. We love our Keetsa. Because of the cost, we were limiting us to the Cloud and the Tea Leaf Classic. But Robert told us about an unadvertised deal on the Supreme, which brought it to almost the same price as the Cloud. We couldn't be happier! The Supreme is actually a bit firmer than I thought it would be, but so far it hasn't bothered me,...although the husband has stated that his ribs were sore after a couple of weeks. So last week my apartment caught on fire 2 weeks ago and had just moved into a new place. I needed a bed ASAP, but I didn't want to buy one of those chemical-filled mattresses and I wanted something that used organic materials, stuff that actually considered the environment. I went online and searched for an organic mattress store, came across another place in Berkeley, but prices were around $2,000 for a full (honestly they weren't that comfortable either). I happened to walk by Keetsa on my way to the other place and after looking at the other place came back to it. Unfortunately it was too late and Keetsa had closed. Among the other stuff people gotta deal with after a fire (Comcast... grr...) I was feeling pretty frustrated. But, I came back the next day, and they were SO HELPFUL and I can't tell you how grateful I was to work with some people who could get things taken care of quickly. Their packaging is AWESOME, efficient and you can tell they put a lot of thought into their products and their business to ensure the environment isn't trashed (Organic cotton, recycled metal coils, minimal packaging, and more) and that they've make it easy for their customers (for example - wheels on the box the mattress comes in; mattress was $529.00 for a full). The people are awesome, ask them what else they do besides run a mattress business! :D At the very least I'd recommend going to check it out! Thank you, thank you, thank you. read more

My partner and I had a very positive experience at Keetsa. Compared to Keetsa, shopping a mainstream mattress store feels a lot like entering a used car lot. Compared to other natural mattress stores, the main advantage to us was the price. We spent $899 on a nice pillowtop, instead of $2000+. My back and shoulders hurt a little less already. Robert was the only salesperson who could tell if my back was aligned on the bed. The other stores just said to go with what's comfortable, and they all feel the same in a showroom. You don't have to wait weeks to get your mattress delivered, and you don't need to beg your friend with the truck to go get it. I wish they sold a simple wood platform frame -- maybe someday. And yes, it was fun to unpack the mattress. read more

So far so good. Bought a mattress which ended up failing me within 5 months. I told Keetsa about it and answered a bunch of questions after which they concurred that it was defective, per the terms of the warranty. Next thing I know, the ball was rolling on getting it replaced. I appreciate that they are striving to be eco- and health-friendly; there are still too few companies doing this. It was resolved swiftly thanks to Keetsa's outstanding warranty/return policy and I truly appreciate the wonderful customer service from manager Marchus Holmes throughout the process. I was invited to come test the new tea leaf supreme before taking it home as the design has changed slightly in recent years, and can happily report that it is somehow even MORE comfortable than our previous model! Eco friendly mattress without spending a fortune? Please consider Keetsa!! Buying a mattress from Keetsa was such a breeze. We got to the store a little close to their closing time but Chuck was amazing. He was beyond helpful and his service was excellent. I love the fact that we didn't have to spend an arm and a leg for a mattress without nasty toxins and I love the brilliant packaging for their mattresses. They are compressed into a box where it will fit in most cars. If we brought an SUV with us, we could have gone home with our king size mattress that same night. But don't worry if you can't fit it in your car, shipping was painless and fast. Chuck made sure everything went smoothly and even shared two tips with us on how to get free pillows. This weekend, my husband and I bought a mattress from Chuck. Our first few nights of sleep have been wonderful, but I particularly wanted to rate our experience with Chuck. He was so kind, so patient, so helpful, and completely low-pressure. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the cost of these great mattresses are comparable to your big warehouse types (Sealy, Serta, etc). I just bought a Keetsa Pillow Plus w/ a Luxurious Comfort Layer a few days ago and wow! I love this mattress! Sleeping like a baby! No more back pain :) And when I am awake, I can't seem to get out of bed because I'm so comfortable and happy! Hope this mattress lasts forever! Keetsa has a good warranty too, 12 yrs for the mattress, and when you buy the mattress it will fit in your car so you don't have to wait or pay for delivery (although Keetsa delivers for free)! I went around to some of the other "eco-friendly" mattress places (European Sleep Works and Nest Bedding) but for the money, Keetsa is the best in my opinion, especially for a young 20 something on a tight budget. On second thought, I think the Keetsa mattress that I got was the most comfortable over all the mattress I explored anyway. Also, I recommend getting a good pillow, which you can get from Keetsa too. In fact, they'll give you a free pillow if you send them a video of you opening up your mattress! I also sleep much better knowing that I'm not exposing my body to neurotoxins that are commonly found in other mattresses and pillows. Well, hope that helps. Happy mattress hunting! read more

With products made locally, great prices, and a box that can fit a full size mattress (I heard also Queen size works) in the back of a Toyota Corolla so you can get it home the same day, what's not to love? I completely forgot that I had a Yelp account. This is my only review. I guess I just spend time updating it every few years. Now it is six years later and the mattress is still going strong. Still very comfortable to sleep on with no real signs of wear, dips, etc. Looking back at my original review, it seems whiny and a bit silly. I do recall that the lack of communication was frustrating, but as time goes by, it seems more and more minor (if it was ever significant to begin with). It feels more than a little entitled and I hate how much I see that on yelp. In any event, I was also reminded because I was at another Keetsa recently, and had another very pleasant experience. My mom came to visit me in NY. I live in a studio apartment, with a mattress and love seat (not long enough to sleep on), so I keep an air mattress for guests (or for me, when mom visits :). I slept on the air mattress and she slept on the Keetsa. She raved about it so we visited a nearby dealer, and again, the service was great, no-pressure, informative, friendly. Prices seemed more than fair (of course, I got one of the cheaper models, but as I say, it has held up quite well). In another five or ten years, I'll probably raise the rating again, but I must say that I am at least a satisfied customer and have recommended their mattresses. I have nothing ironic or snarky or 'meh' to add. read more

We tried two Keetsa's in two years and they both started to loose firmness within 6 months. Warranty is useless because the indentation is less than 1.5", and the problems started after 90 days, so we are stuck with an expensive poor quality product. The visible indentation is about 1/2-3/4", but when we lie on it it sags considerably more (compared to how it was new and in the middle where we don't sleep). Keetsa said that they will honor the warranty any time in the next 11 years if the indentation reaches 1.5". For us, that's not an option. The mattress now already hurts my back, so I sleep on the floor, while my wife sleeps in the middle that's not bad yet, until we get a new mattress... again. I was recently sleeping in various hotels for 2 weeks with no back problems, yet after one night on the Keetsa, my back hurt. That is what prompted me to face the truth and contact Keetsa again, and consequently post this. read more

I heard of Keetsa from a friend who raved about her new mattress. Decided to check out a different natural mattress store nearby in Berkeley first to shop around, and the customer service and prices were horrendous! Went over to Keetsa and was immediately greeted by a friendly salesperson, who was very helpful and patient in showing me the different options and making suggestions based on my needs. I walked out of there with a very affordable high quality mattress that I could take home in my car! I have slept on it the last few nights and my back pain is very noticeably improved, and I am thrilled to have a new bed. I can't believe how huge and comfy it is and it arrived in a box I could move myself! Only problem is it's so comfy I have trouble getting up for work on time:) Very worth the trip to Keetsa to see what a wonderful mattress and shopping experience you can have.
