We got bunk beds from here and were happy with the selection, range of prices, and quality. The beds feel sturdier than IKEA, for sure. Also better than IKEA is the fact that the top bunks are not cordoned off, so the kids could actually try the different ladders and heights. We wanted to feel confident that the kids were comfortable with the beds. The salesperson was present but low-pressure, for sure. Things are not ready to buy off the shelf, so expect a couple-week wait. They offer delivery and set up, but we were able to do it ourselves. This is the showroom, not the warehouse, which is also in Berkeley but elsewhere. There is off-street parking. If you are looking for bunk beds, Murphy beds, or other compact sleeping solutions, and you don't urgently need it the same night, this is a great local business to support. read more

We were fortunate enough the "score" a floor model that is gorgeous! The craftsmanship of the bed is superb and it is made of real wood. Great customer service from the first time we walked in. Sales team was extremely helpful and informative, yet it didn't feel like a pressured sales pitch. This is on contrast to our experience shopping at Hoot, which felt understaffed and therefore unable to provide the same level of attentiveness and service required when making a furniture investment of this amount. After we were allowed to borrow a stain sample to compare with our room, we were still walked through the various options for hardware. When we didn't really like the default hardware on our wallbed with the stain choice we wanted, Sharon showed us other options from the same manufacturer that she would call them to custom order for our piece at the same price. It's this level of service that confirmed our choice to buy from Comfort Zone. After the manufacturer confirmed the customized order was ok, we wrapped up the transaction via phone and email. Yesterday, after 8 weeks of waiting, the wallbed was installed by Roberto. Him and his assistant did a great job installing the need in the freshly painted room. They did a good job leaving the room as clean as they found it. Came within the allocated time frame and were wrapped up in about an hour. We must say the wallbed looks amazing and has transformed our office into a guest room when we have visitors. A great solution for the often times smallish bedrooms in the Bay area. Great local furniture store. They specialize in bunk beds and wall beds, but have a good selection of basic platform beds too. We got 3 beds here - two with under-bed storage drawers for our kids, and one basic platform bed for the guest room. All made of solid rubberwood. Easy to assemble and feels robust, like it will last for a long time - unlike other stores beds made of compacted straw. Sharon is great to work with and very helpful as well. read more

I felt so comfortable talking to her. We knew we wanted a wall bed, but needed a little guidance to make a decision on style, color, mechanism, etc. Sharon covered every detail and was very patient as we changed our minds a couple times! I had been looking for a wood frame for our bed for a long time and happened into Comfort Zone. We found a beautiful bed with storage drawers and found a futon mattress on sale as well for our guestroom. The customer service was fantastic. John took the time to show us what we were looking for. He was so kind and friendly. He delivered and set up the bed with his helper. One of the drawers had a scratch on the inside where we would have never noticed it but John made the point to come back and replace the part for us. My fiancé and I slept on a mattress that we loved while away on vacation. I called the manufacturer (Spinal Care Bedding) and they named Comfort Zone as a place where I could purchase the same mattress. Working with Comfort Zone in Berkeley to actually get the exact match was a breeze! Sharon promptly looked at my photos, verified the mattress with Spinal Care, and had one shipped up to the Berkeley store for us to try. We loved it, of course, and placed an order for a full-sized king. John and David delivered it shortly after and also hauled-off our old mattress and box spring set. I'm typically accustomed to purchasing mattresses and furniture from large companies, like Macy's, so was a little reluctant to go a different route. But, we really couldn't be happier with the service we received from Comfort Zone. You may not get the extreme speediness of a giant company like Macy's (in terms of ordering and delivery), but they have great prices and good customer service. It was actually a relief not having to spend time calling a 1-800 number for any questions or issues. read more

We visited Comfort Zone's showroom in Berkeley to look at Murphy beds for our condo in Hawaii and settled upon three cabinet beds. It was our intention to include these beds in a shipping container in which we were sending the rest of our household items on very specific dates. Sharon ensured that the cabinet beds were delivered to the store from the factory in time and arranged for store employees to deliver them to us and assist in loading them onto the shipping container. The container was trucked to the Oakland port and loaded onto a ship headed to Honolulu. It was transferred to another ship which sailed to the port on Maui, and then it was trucked to our condo on the other side of the island. When we finally unpacked the beds from the factory boxes, we found absolutely no damage caused by the complicated shipping process. We are EXTREMELY satisfied with these high quality, compact beds - we have slept on them ourselves and found them to be super comfortable. I highly recommend Comfort Zone, and Sharon in particular, not only for the quality of their products, but also for their superb customer service. read more
