One of the service workers recommended the mini tune-up, saying it would cover the fix. When I picked it up, I was told the bike needed a new crankshaft because mine was bent. Fine -- I paid for it, assuming that would resolve the issue. Unfortunately, shortly after, the exact same problem happened again. I wasn't able to return the bike until this month (the original repair was done in August). When I brought it back, I was charged an additional $20 for parts, again thinking it would finally be fixed. But the crankshaft came off again mid-ride while picking up my kids. I took it back immediately, and the service employee told me the crankshaft was broken. I explained that I had just purchased it from them. He seemed frustrated, went to the back, and said that if this repair didn't work, I would need a new bike. At this point, I've spent about $120 on a repair that never actually fixed the issue. It's really unfortunate because I like the shop and thought it was a cool place, but this experience was frustrating and disappointing.

I ended up selecting a Duralum cover that his company also offers, and I'm glad I did. It's just the look I was going for. I was also impressed with Adam's business model, which is built on quality and efficiency at a very reasonable price without cutting corners or sacrificing customer service. Now for the best part: A guy named Brody, his lead installer. In addition to being a super nice guy, his work is meticulous. The back of my home isn't linear, so there are bump-outs and protrusions, making the installation more difficult and time consuming. This wasn't the slightest challenge for Brody and his team. The finished product is snuggled tightly against my stucco and professionally sealed on the roof to prevent any water dripping through when it rains. I watched him work, measuring and cutting the aluminum to match my home so the fit and finish is far greater than I imagined. As you can tell from the photos, I still have work to do (concrete coating, fence repairs, etc.) to match the beauty of my new cover.

I was out MTB riding and pretending I was still 25 years old. Well, my reflexes aren't what they used to be and I ended up wiping out. I thought I munched the rear derailleur as it appeared bent and was only shifting into a couple of gears and bumping up against the rear wheel spokes. Took the bike to John on December 23rd and he worked on it over the holiday weekend! Based on the way the bike looked, I was prepared for a very costly repair...but John texted me that it was only a bent derailleur hanger and that I would be back on the trail for a lot less than I feared. (Many bike shops charge a "minimum fee" just to look at your bike...John fixed my bike and I was "out the door" for less than some shops charge just to inspect it!) John is very conscientious and sends you a copy of the invoice for any parts he has to order so you know exactly what the cost is going to be. I have found an honest bike mechanic!!
