Finally had a chance to order a take out. There are tons of choice to try but I had a mixed doner, comes with rice and salad. That was amazing, super moist, nice flavour. My husband had Kofta..... I was a client for 4 years straight and I know most of the employees there until they changed the staff recently. I made an order on the phone so I can get there and break my fast. This lady who works there raised her voice to tell me that I am not able to eat inside and made me feel like she was paying for my food. Not sure if she thought I'm broke to pay for her tips for placing the order over the phone and she still will have to serve me in the restaurant. Our biggest complaint is the service. A restaurant that charges this much for food should have good service. Every time we go, our entrees come at different times. Sometimes there's 10-15 minutes between the arrival of the first entree and the last. I really think the owners and staff don't understand that entrees for all guests at a table should ALWAYS arrive at the same time. It doesn't matter that doner is fast and easy to prepare. Start the doner orders to coincide with the slower meals. It's not rocket science. :/ Food is excellent though, but I really wish they would fix the service problems. read more

I recently went to this restaurant with a couple of colleagues and was quite disappointed. The food in itself was decent (my colleague said it was "amazing" but I am decidly less enthusiastic, both about this place and sandwiches in general) but the problem was the inattentive waitstaff. We each ordered a basic doner sandwich, and while everyone else who had ordered meals around us got their food fairly promptly, we sat waiting for 40 minutes and multiple (ignored) requests and check ins. If looks could kill.... The waitress couldn't have cared less, and when we spoke to the manager, he said he thought he "lost" our paper orders in the back. No apology or anything... I usually sypathize with waitstaff but this was entirely ridiculous. I am glad I had a coke to sip on for the first 40 minutes and entertaining company otherwise this review would be worded much more harshly. read more

Went here for a good meal and the food was subpar for what you end up paying. When the food arrived I had a long black hair on the top of my meal as well. The staff was not friendly whatsoever and told us that the tip was not included on the bill and stood there while we finished up and waited for us to leave the tip. I will not be back. My new favorite spot for middle eastern / Turkish food. The menu has a variety of choices but I strongly urge you to try any of the kebabs. The flavour is spot on. The blend of spices, the wood fire method they use to cook gives the meat a smokey and addictive flavour. With the kebabs served over rice, the juices spices and smokey flavour blend into the rice. I am hungry and having cravings thinking about it. I have eaten in and have some take out.... the place can be quite busy at certain times which is why I chose takeout. I can't describe how bad it was, I was there on the sunday evening of March first 2020. It was packed. Service was worse I have ever seen. My Spinach and cheese pide small and I could count the number of spinach maybe 2 leaves in each bite. When server brought some bread, she hit my Yogurt drink Ayren glass and it was all over the table and my jacket. NO APPOLOGY AND NO REPLACEMENT! The donner Kebab was tiny and arrived after 45 min. The started made of Tomato Burma made me and my 2 friends sick and we all ended up in the washroom there with pains ... Each little basket of bread $4. Typical food, until you get food poisoning. They try to do society a favour by hiring refugees, which is fine, but apparently they are not training them on hygiene. Not only did I get sick enough to go to emergency, the Health Department later contacted me because the strain I got was foreign to Canada and they wanted to know where I might have contracted it. Considering that I got sick one day after going here, there is no question where I got this rare bug. Avoid the chicken salad, only order well cooked food. Green vomit and green stool is not on the menu. read more

Me and my friend used to go there when they were much smaller, before they expanded. The food was good and reasonably priced. I used to get the Chicken Doner and sometimes the Mixed Doner, along with Ayran. It was good. I went there again today, February 24, 2018. The prices went up so much. Which would be ok, if the quality of the food was great as well. But compared to the price, the food was below average. I would give 0 stars out of 5 if I could. First we had to wait for a long time before anyone came up to us and took our order. I ordered the Mixed Pide. It was nothing great, super greasy and taste was meh. My friend ordered the Adana Kebab. The meat portion was so small for the price. They filled the plate with lettuce, tomato and other grass. Even the glass size for Ayran are smaller now. I don't mind paying the price, if the food quality is excellent and are worth it. The service is quite bad, and the staff are super rude. They mixed up bill at the end too and charged me for something I didn't order. It was a HUGE mistake going back to this place. Never going there again. read more

Food is great especially the iskander kebab with the yogurt but like everyone else has mentioned the service is horrible. Whenever we go the servers are always talking amongst each other and we have to get up and flail our arms to get their attention. Last time we had some leftovers and we waited for the server to bring us takeout containers but he never showed so my husband just helped himself to the empty containers that were stacked by our booth. I really wanted to like this place, but after several visits I probably won't be back. I usually only do take-out here, which was fine. But when I ate in with friends or family, we were largely ignored/forgotten. I didn't mind at first but soon noticed large parties (compared to me + 1 other person usually), even if they come in much later, were served first and more attentively. Also the food started to slip in quality, items would be cold, the meat gamier, ect. They have a wood burning oven and delicious homemade breads but the service, while not entirely unfriendly, is a deal-breaker. read more

This is a review of customer service only, as I didn't have a chance to taste the food. I hoped to order from them for a new year's eve get together. Listed hours were until 10 PM, but I called at 11 AM to place an order to pickup later that day. The woman I spoke to said I couldn't place an order that early, but since they closed at 6 pm she recommended I call at 5 pm to place the order. I call back at 5 pm only to be told that they closed. This place is a hit or a miss, food wise. Before ordering the doner - look at the vertical rotisserie - if the meat is thin/running out - avoid, its likely stale and yes, it does taste stale. If its stacked its fresh and you have a good doner. The price is great for the amount of food. Service, as you have already read reviews, could be improved and at times they are quite rude. I love Turkish food but this experience was disappointment. A relatively small space which certainly is not a dining experience which I expected. There are lots of servers but they do not do things they should: check you up every so often, especially after the food arrives. And in the end, if you want a doggy bag, you will need to pack it yourself. The food? Let's say I was not crazy about it. The portions are generous but: 1. Fries are tasteless, not even salt 2. Salad has no dressing (and you can't track down a waiter to get some dressing) 3. For lamb chops they give you butter knife So both service and food is lacking. Our 'luck' also was to sit next to a couple with an impossible child who did not stop screaming from the top of her lungs and her mother just though this is ok. When my husband's dirty looks and turning around didn't help, he asked her to control her daughter. She ignored him. We left and will never go back. This is a find. Turkish delight in Etobicoke. The first thing I was impressed with was the beautiful fresh food ready to cook was displayed to make you salivate as the colours were so bright. Then the way they cook and prepare your order is all done with TLC as they enjoy what they do. The dips were perfect, the lamb was to die for, cooked to perfection. I will continue giving them accolades as it will be a regular place to make you feel good when eating. Kebab 49 is an underrated gem of Etobicoke. I always recommend this place to friends and family. The food is always great, not too oily and they offer large portions. The food is delicious and fresh, they make the breads in the oven. I got the Adana kebab which comes in 2 skewers with rice, vegetables and bread and it tastes delicious! All the kebabs are well made,but the only complaint I have is that the prices are a bit too much. Maybe they increased them after the renovation but a regular dish here can cost you about $17, which should be lower given other similar establishments around. read more

Very good lamb and chicken sandwiches! Massive portions that I can never finish. Love the atmosphere and it's a clean place - at the end of the meal you get a complimentary cup of tea which is a nice cultural touch along with the Turkish music. Maybe a suggestion would be to hire more waiters though - don't expect any special attention because there seems to be only two extremely busy waiters running the place....it's not a small place. Parking is bad here because the lot is small and inconvenient to get in and out of but otherwise good place! read more

Kebab 49 certainly has great food to offer. Selection is various, and prices are reasonable for a good hearty meal. However, service is bad...perhaps, really bad. When I came here with my friends, I saw a lady in charge yelling openly in front of customers to her server. Frankly, I felt there was some discrimination happening as everyone else, except this server, were Turkish. I felt terrible for her server. Even if server was generally bad at her work, does it justify public shaming? The same lady in charge was rude to us when we were served food, and afterwards when we went to pay. I understand working long days in restaurants aren't easy, but it friendly service is an essential component of good meal experience. I went with a friend and we both ordered, ate our food, and when the bill came we were under the assumption it would be separated but it was together. No big deal right? "Can we please get our meals separate?" And the waiter looked confused and told us to wait as he spoke to another employee, he left for a few minutes and came back to our table and said he cannot change it, it's already in the system and in his words asked "Can you figure it out?", meaning he wanted us to pay the bill and go off on our own and figure out who owes who money. Which is a major inconvenience because neither of us had cash at hand, only debit cards. After that time, I decided I'm only going there for take-out. I always get the chicken wrap and I ask for no cucumbers and they acknowledge this. I took it back home, and bit into it just to realize it had absolutely nothing except the chicken. It's suppose to come with lettuce, onion, parsley and garlic sauce. Apparently "no cucumbers" means you're not getting ANY of those other toppings. This happened not once, but TWICE! I keep going back though because the food is awesome when they do it right, but now I have to look like an a-hole by repeating myself and confirming my order at least 5 times before I leave. read more

Man, I 've been to this place couple times. The service wasn't t the best but the food was great. I decided to give another chance for this delightful Turkish Restaurant. First of all, they hired new servers who can actually speak English. They are all friendly and very polite. In a very fast pace environment like this restaurant has, they are doing a really good job with their quality of service. I tried the Iskender as the main course which was really delicious. As a dessert, I had the kunefe which was the best dessert I 've had in my life!! Oh my god! that melted cheese in it! I can't even describe it. i think this place is the best Turkish restaurant around GTA. Still needs a little improvement with their Lahmacun and some of their kebaps needs to be a little more "Turkishy" to be more authentic (not westernized). Ground beef kebap was amazingly good. I came here before their renovations for takeout which included a soup. I checked my order when I got back to the car, They forgot my soup. Went back inside to tell the lady at the counter & she started to blame me for their mistake, said soup was still to come yet failed to tell me when she handed me my bag of takeout, just let me thank her & walk out the door. What the?! told her she didn't have to be rude about it then she started to shout at me & everyone in restaurant was looking including staff behind counter. After what seemed like a dozen rude words outta her mouth one of the older gentleman workers tried to intervene & calm her down. Another worker in the meanwhile managed to hand me my soup. I thanked him & said they probably shouldn't employ such rude people especially since was her who made mistake. His face was full of embarrassment, all he could do was offer me a quiet apology as if he was ashamed of what just happened yet he wasn't about to compensate the what $5 soup to me. I wasn't looking for free food I didn't even suggest. But I am merely saying it's usually something businesses would do when it's in their error, even worse when a staff member harasses a customer. I never went back since. I've never experienced anything so dramatic ever in a restaurant or takeout. This is my actually weekly stop over place. So far so good. They are creating marvelous Turkish food with their brick oven and grill. Floor Manager Deniz is amazing. Tahir is the guy orchestrating the show in the kitchen. Their portions are pretty big. I never get to finish my meal. They are so welcoming, always offer Turkish tea end of your meal. Feel free to try sweets. They are good enough to remind authentic desserts. read more
