The rice was way too undercooked and everything was meh. They have some cool imported things to buy though.

The steak is always delicious. We love this place. Last time we were there, a man at the next table…read morestarted choking. My wife knew exactly what to do and had him put his head between his legs and hit his back before trying the Heimlich. Then we finished our delicious meal. No comps offered, which you figure would have been nice, but that's ok.

5 stars for top notch service. We walked in pushing our kids in the stroller, and the staff…read moreimmediately set up a table with two high chairs without even waiting for us to ask! Holy Cow specializes in AAA Canadian Beef. We got chicken karaage, steak udon, and steak donburi. The chicken was lightly fried and came with yum yum sauce. Our kids split the steak udon and loved it as the sauce carries a bit of sweetness. My husband and I split the steak donburi. The steak was cooked medium rare and was very tender. We mixed a raw egg yolk in with the steak and rice and ate it with the accompaniments (wasabi and soy sauce, sesame sauce, fish cakes/mushroom). Everything paired nicely together! The three dishes plus a Sapporo and a cocktail came out to 83 USD. And speaking on the excellence of service again, the staff provided us with toddler plates and utensils, and gave them free ice cream, complete with a sparkler at the end! It really made our kids nights. Thank you to Holy Cow for being so kind to us!

Pastable - Opening Special ($6.99): Mac N Cheese with BBQ Chicken and drink

Pastable is a food stall focusing on bowls of fusion pasta. The main components are one pasta, one…read moreprotein, one sauce, and three toppings. Everything is 100% halal. This is their second location, in a build with 3 other food vendors. It is mostly a takeout restaurant. There is a small counter where you could stand and eat. There are six set combinations. Or you can build your own pasta (BYOP) combo. On the soft-opening day (2025-01-20), they were offering an opening special of Mac N Cheese with BBQ Chicken sample and a drink for only $6.99. I ordered the following: 1. BYOP: Garlic Shrimp, penne, rose sauce, broccoli, black olives, mushrooms. It automatically comes with sliced green peppers and chopped parsley. 2. Opening Special ($6.99) x 2. For the BYOP, they didn't warn me it was medium spicy. I can handle it with a cold drink! The shrimp and penne were perfectly cooked. I loved the rose sauce. My choices of broccoli,  black olives, and mushrooms worked well together and with the base. The Opening Special was delicious; the Mac n Cheese part and BBQ Chicken were really good! Unfortunately, the BBQ was mildly spicy, and my son didn't like it; more for me! The customer service was good. It took them a long time to prepare the food (there were many orders prior to mine). But it was opening day, so hopefully, they will speed up their cooking. There is no free WiFi. The food stall is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are no customer washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-014

It seems that everyone knows or has heard of this place - a trendy Japanese-Peruvian restaurant with extremely photogenic visuals. So, we went in with high expectations. The food was overall good (but somewhat short of exceptional) and offered quite a variety of fun and interesting flavours. My personal favourites were: shishito peppers, yellowtail sashimi, salmon tostada. The miso cod is much recommended and praised but to me was just a little overrated (see high expectations above). The sushi was mostly alright to me - there were some delightful combinations but also some that just fell flat. The most disappointing part was the dessert, I really hated the terribly sweet matcha crepe cake which tasted of sugar and not much else! With respect to drinks, I tried one of their mocktails, the "Flor De La Pasión", which was quite good BUT very difficult to drink - too much ice. Service was absolutely fantastic - all of the staff without exception were attentive, friendly, and helpful. The operations are well organized and food and drinks arrived promptly. The interior is spacious and comfortable and beautiful. However, I do wish they'd improve the labelling of their washrooms. The area is dimly lit and the signage is small and ambiguous. I know of several people who almost walked right into the wrong one and only stopped when they saw the actual people in the washrooms - very awkward!! 3.5 rounded down because it's expensive :)
