Chicken Shish
Alykhan V.

Came here on a random Thursday evening to have some Turkish food! Service: 5/5 - Our server was very nice and friendly, gave us time to look at the menu, filled water, and we had a nice conversation at the end about Turkey and desserts, and he ended up bringing us a piece of Turkish delight to try. Thank you for that! Food: 4/5 - For the style of the place and the flavours, it was really good! I loved the chicken shish, it was so juicy and the salad dressing was so yummy. I'd definitely come back and have the same dish or the try the chicken doner next time. The Turkish delight was really good too. Actually as I'm writing this, I can't wait to have it again when in the area. Ambiance: 3.5/5 - Clean, and a nice family style restaurant. Nothing extraordinary, though they're not going for a fancy vibe anyway. Only posting for reference that you're coming here for the great food, not the ambiance.

The staff are friendly and helpful. There are limited parking spots available in front of the restaurant and the booths can use some upgrades (To be considered if you're planning to have a gathering here). We ordered eggplant dip and Atom for appetizers. They're served with fresh and hot Turkish bread. And for entrée, we ordered Mixed Kebab; it includes 1 skewer of Adana Kebab, 3 pieces of Chicken Shish, 3 pieces of Veal Shish, half a portion of lamb and veal doner and half a portion of chicken doner, served with bulgur, salad and bread. Each Mixed Kebab is perfect for 2 people; or even for 3 people if you order appetizer, too. I liked the Adana Kebab, Chicken Shish and Veal Shish, but I think they could've been marinated with more spices. I didn't like the doners though, since they had too much fat in the meat.

Came here for a dine in experiences a couple months back, and had as equally lovely as an experience with takeout recently too! -[LENTIL SOUP] $8.9 A huge portion of soup made with red lentils! Excellent to dip fresh pita into if you order that too -[MIXED APPETIZER PLATE] $19.99 Comes with hummus, eggplant dip, chili tomato dip, eggplant salad, atom (sundried tomato yogurt dip), salad, and tabouleh. My favorite has to be the atom honestly but they're all delicious! I would order this plate with fresh pita as my main haha -[MIXED PIDE] $18.99 Turkish pizza with ground veal and lamb, soujuk, and minced lamb! This was such a great way to try out multiple kinds of pide - soooo good :D The location of this place has extremely limited parking during peak hours so if you find that happening to you, their takeout holds up pretty well too! Portions are HUGE so you'll be guaranteed to have leftovers

I never heard of Kebab 49 before this but apparently they are decently well known for their delicious Turkish food! Based in Etobicoke, they've been around for over 20 years and the quality is great We tried the: Hummus dip Spinach and cheese pide - this was huge! Mixed doner This was enough food for 2 people and we were stuffed. Wrapping up with the complimentary warm Turkish tea was the perfect ending!

Of the many Turkish restaurants in Toronto this one is definitely on the nicer side. They really pay attention to decoration, design and detail - even the presentation on the platter was very crisp. The proportions were very good (I feel some Turkish restaurants skimp out on you but not here!) and the food was delicious and filling. They offered us tea on the house and the dessert was very nice. Be sure to get the garlic sauce!

Came by here with a group looking to get dinner. The ambiance was live enough to feel like we were out but quiet enough to discuss topics with each other. The service was good. Even when busy they made sure to take care of our table. The only downside is that 3 of the dishes we wanted were sold out that day. And it was odd because the my seemed like popular choices. I got the kebabs plate seen here which was good. But not exactly what I wanted. My party felt somewhat the same. Maybe it was just the day I went, I don't want to be unfair. Hopefully they'll have everything when you'll visit!

Mixed kebab for 3.

It was the best Turkish Restaurant I have ever been . The food was delicious, we will come back for sure.

Delicious food that's fresh. I got the mozzarella and baby spinach pide - it was hot from oven and filled with cheesy goodness. It's not salted with was a downside but you can add salt on top. The Lahmacun was on a crispy flatbread. The vegetable toppings to add on top were flavourful. Quick service.

Iskender kebab

The kebabs are just about average. We had the Mix Kebab (it comes with varieties of kebabs), we found most of them quite dry. Also tried the Iskender Kebab. Would rate it 3 out of 5. The service is good. Though the place was very busy, but still the servers checked quite few times if everything is ok and if we needed anything. The seating is tightly squeezed and very busy. Noise level is really high!

We came here for takeout based on a recommendation. We ordered ahead of time, but the food wasn't ready when we arrived and we still had to wait 10 minutes. The food was very flavorful, though the veal shish was a little dry. The salads are put together ahead of time, so some of the lettuce is wilted and discoloured. Also, another guest ordered the salad without onions, but they didn't follow this instruction, so just remember to check your order before leaving. Overall a good place, but nothing too special.

I would def rate this Turkish spot number 1 in the 6ix. Quality is amazing, and tremondous quantity.

Mixed Donar dinner.

These people take their Donar (I think that's how they spelled it on their menu) and Kebab seriously here. I walk in and there is a deli-meat fridge with some awesome meats ready to go. I'm gonna like it here! A client of mine wanted to have lunch - that's the way of saying let me pick your brain for an hour and only cost me a cheap lunch. Uh...Sure. Parking here is a bit of a nightmare so be prepared to be patient during busy hours. I was told to order what I wanted and I went straight for the quick meal options. Sandwiches were around $5 and there was two for $8 or $9. The pricing reminds me of Paramount and since their sandwiches are tiny there - not good either, I opted to get a dinner - a Mixed Donar for $12. Holy! The meal arrives and my dinner platter is HUGE! The sandwich my client order for himself is half the dinner plate and what a deal for $5. I looked at the heaping portions and thought I'm going to have to take this with me. The salad was good, the donar meats were tender and tasty. There pita was chewy and also quite good. As I was making my way through the rice and meats, I found two very large pieces of pita under the meats. AhhhhHHH! Now the meal doesn't look as big as it once did. Nonetheless it was filling and I did take the rest home for dinner. If you are looking to fill up with tasty meats. This is one of those places. If you are a bit fickle and want good service as well, you might consider somewhere else. Definitely bookmarked for a return trip! Cheers.

Delicious food, very large portions. Could not finish the entire meal in one go. The platters have a variety of colors and tastes. The staff is made up of authentic, friendly Turks. Feels like you're in a smaller Turkey town.

Baklava (2 pieces for $5.49). 4. Turkish Tea ($2.00) x 2, but is free with a meal. A Pide is a Turkish Pizza. It came with red cabbage, gabage, pickles, and hot peppers. The pickles were too sourish. The chicken was mixed with two layers of cheese and a few slices of tomatoes. We ask them to hold the chili pepper. Adana is a lamb skewer. It was tasty and flavourful. It comes with a chili pepper and mixed salad, which was good. We swapped out the rice for fries, which was also good. The Baklava was just right; it wasn't drenched in honey, so it stays crispy. The Turkish Tea was the a good fish to a meal. Apparently, it is free when you have a dine-in meal. The customer service was good, except we have to keep asking to fill our water glasses. There is enough indoor seating. There is easy listening (English-language) music playing in the background. This restaurant opened in Feb 2024. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are separate male/female washrooms downstairs, thus not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. There is one high chair for little children. Review 2024-148

The waiter was really nice, he was friendly and smiling when he greeted me and took our order. My friend and I shared the meat doner with bulgur because we were not that hungry. When it came, it looked too good to eat. Presentation was well done with a variety of toppings and it was aromatic. Sadly we found the meat to be too salty for us. It was hard to eat when the bulgur and pita were running out as well. We were surprised to see that we were charged for $4 just for a cup of water each?? Apparently this is their norm but I wish I knew before coming here so I could say no to it as I had my own water with me...

It's a good thing though that we were able to park on the residential street after 6 p.m. This is a fairly small restaurant with a patio. Menus are viewed by scanning a QR code. I'm not sure if it's specified, but certain items are only available at certain times. There's a chance that what you want to order is sold out or not available, so I'd recommend having a backup order ready. It was a super busy night when we went, so the food did take quite a while and was severely staggered in arriving at the table. Luckily, the restaurant was considering adding a pasta dish to their menu, and we were given one to try complimentarily. It was pretty tasty, and so were the dishes that we each ordered. The portions are decent, so if you're not a big eater, it'd be good to share dishes. The bread is so fluffy and yummy! At the end of the meal, we were given tea. It was a nice touch. However, they should specify that it's on the house. I had brought a cake and asked if we'd be able to cut it and eat it there. The server said yes, but it'd be a $5 charge per person. I understand that they provide plates and cutlery and will have to wash it, and I'm not sure what the norm is, but $5 per person seems high.
