Atmosphere Visually, it's pretty much everything you'd want in a winery. The building is a beautiful place to host an event, the vineyards beg to be instagram'd, and there are lots of places to sit and stroll outdoors (if you visit in the warner months). Great for a romantic date or a day trip with your gal pals. Wine Some wines I didn't like, some I did. The Sunflower Red ($17) was my personal favorite. I highly recommend trying a wine slush. We sampled a couple (because they sell wine slush kits which we thought would be great gifts) and fell IN LOVE with the apple cider wine slush. Unfortunately, they don't sell it and they won't tell you how to make it, you can only have it if you order a glass while you're there. Unfortunately since it's 30 degrees outside I had to pass. Such a bummer! Location It's quite a drive so you definitely don't want to plan on drinking much unless you've elected a driver. We had one of their frozen sangrias. It was the most horrible tasting thing I've ever had. It didn't taste like wine or sangria but more like frozen cough syrup and chemicals. The only resemblance to sangria was that it was red. That's it. And they're not cheap. Never again. read more

I love this place! When people think of wineries and wine country, Kansas does not come to mind. This place actually has pretty decent wine! The wine slushies are great, but a lil pricey, typically $9!!!! A glass of wine or a tasting is $6. They do sell snacks, but it would be cool if they could do a weekend food truck too. This winery has a great outdoor area with games, tons of picnic tables, and a dog friendly atmosphere. They had live music and the singer was fantastic. I wish that the yard area was a little better maintained, it has so much potential. I stumbled upon KC Wine Co through a Facebook event advertising their "Sangria Soiree" event. Say no more, I'm interested. The winery is pretty far out in Olathe (off K 7 about 35 minutes from downtown KC), but the drive was easy. We arrived and were greeted by two friendly dogs who hung out on the winery grounds throughout the day. The grounds include rows of vines, a lake, picnic tables, a covered patio, and a variety of yard games. The staff was friendly, helpful, and did what they could to make our visit a great one. Unfortunately, wine is the only option. No beer or soft drinks, so be sure to pack a cooler if you want something else to drink. It's a good options for something different to do in KC, and I will be back for future events! read more

This is such a fun place. We went on a Saturday afternoon, right before a rainstorm. There was live music outside and they had a table of pies inside to taste with your wine. This was our first time, and the staff was very kind to explain how it all worked. The wines are good, very drinkable. I wouldn't say there anything amazing, but the overall experience and drink ability makes it very fun. They happen to have a Seiter flavored slushy while we were there and it was the absolute highlight. My only complaint would be that we were overcharged, the staff accidentally charged us for one more slushy then we actually had. This is partially our fault for allowing it to happen, they use square so you really only see the total when you're paying and because we Didn't really pay attention to prices when we ordered we weren't aware that we were being overcharged at the time; we noticed when we got our receipt via email and had already left. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of when you're checking out. read more

Their wines are supplemented with grapes from other regions, like CA, like Amigoni. Did like their Riesling. Enjoyed playing the giant chess board, and enjoying a spectacular sunset. Went to KC Wine Co for oKCtoberfest and their website said German food and German music. Required you to pay $15 for advance tickets. My party of 3 adults get there for the oKCtoberfest and there are a few food trucks, none of which were selling German food and one young woman sitting inside playing a guitar, not German music. I asked the women working the bar about the food and music and I was told there was an accordion player the day before. It cost us each $15 to get a 4 ounce glass of hard cider slushie. All other 4 oz alcoholic drinks were $9 each! Such a scam. The place was a childrens' park that advertised a pumpkin patch and there were NO pumpkins and no patch! Oh my gosh I think I just had the best burger at a food truck I have ever had. Every ingredient was quality and freshly cooked. We were planning to come out here for Mother's Day. My daughter called to make sure my 17 year old could come in since it had not been on their original Facebook post. The lady said no. My other daughter called to ask a few other questions and to clarify that he could not come in at all. Since the phones are on the same plan, I assume the caller id showed the same name and the lady guessed they were the same person. The lady was extremely curt and hung up on her mid sentence. I have never been there before but now I will never go because I don't want to pay hard earned money to a rude bunch of people. I can't imagine having a Mother's Day event where moms with any kids under the age of 21 can't attend. Maybe you should make it a grandmothers day event. Even so, there is never an excuse to treat your customers with anything but respect. read more

My wife and I have been to every winery in Kansas but 3 and this is by far the worst so far. The ladies in the tasting room were very indifferent and we stood for 10 minutes at the tasting area before they even acknowledged we were there but made sure they asked how many bottles we wanted to buy at the end. I was so excited to drive all the way out to KC Wine Co to get wine slushee growlers and wine popsicles. I bought 6 growler and 3 boxes of popsicles. I took two growlers to a friends house. After opening, we were very disappointed that they barely had any alcohol in them at all. Tasted like regular popsicles. I also thought that $20 for a 32oz growlers was A LOT of money, even more so after we tried them. Won't be going back for more. read more

They've done a pretty good job for a "new" winery. They have a nice selection of whites and reds, dry (although not very dry), sweet and semi-sweet. I was a bit disappointed that they don't grow all of their grapes (local agriculture, y'all!); but at least they get the grapes and not just the juice from growers in other parts of the country. While I'm doing the rating, this might be the time for me to say that one of the things I miss that I've found in wineries in other parts of the country is the ability to get a fresh, hot loaf of bread with either olives or a little vinegar and olive oil dipping sauce. Yum! I would definitely sign up 8 to 12 of my wine-loving buddies to accompany me for sipping, dipping and buying. Lastly: no gravel roads required (hip, hip hooray!!) and there were lovely and knowledgeable young ladies at the tasting bar. Made for a great visit. We've added this winery to our (very) short list of nearby Kansas wineries that are a big "do" for us. read more

i have a wedding scheduled in November of 2020, highly DO NOT recommend booking with this vendor as they will NOT postpone my wedding into 2021 during a global pandemic. Their exact words were "its legal to have a wedding in Kansas right now" but we don't know what November will bring. Flu season is upon us so it is only going to get worse. I even explained how half of my family lives in PA and isn't able to come due to Kansas being on their list of states that they have to quarantine from if they travel here and they will not budge. They told me they wont schedule anyone into 2021 and from a business stand point, is completely unprofessional in my eyes. I do NOT recommend having your wedding here as the owners don't listen to you when it comes to what YOU need for your wedding. They don't care that my own maid of honor wont be able to attend cause she is also in Philadelphia. All they said was "We can add more tables for social distancing" its impossible to socially distance when you're dancing. Their venue is beautiful and we really wanted to use them until they denied POSTPONING us. Also, they wont reimburse us any of our money. Me and my friend were very excited to go to an event this past weekend. The other people were friendly the slushies were delicious but what we didn't like was the service we experienced from one of the workers. Most of the time I just brush things off because I've work in retail my whole college and post college career to earn extra cash. I know it's not easy. One of the workers looked at me and my friend and purposely asked the person behind us how she can help. She ignored us and kept helping other people after that and it was not until another worker saw us standing there for a while that we were helped. We felt very disappointed and a little discriminated with the fact that she took one look at us and continued to help other people. Your winery is beautiful. Went there for an event they were having and the event staff was very rude to us. They actually started yelling at us making a scene in front of other participants at the event. On top of that the event was poorly run and had participants complains on how it was being ran. It is a nice place with nice views and scenery. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED MORE RUDELY BY A BUSINESS. I have been trying to plan a neighborhood holiday party and reached out to book their space and wine. Getting any info from them was like pulling teeth and took me 5 emails and 5 phone calls to get and a wait time of many days between each. They wanted to charge $750 for the rental space (reasonable) and quoted me a flat $1500 for 150 "tickets" with 1 ticket required for each glass of wine, regardless of the number of people that would be at the party. THAT'S $10 PER GLASS OF WINE OR MORE depending on the number of people that would attend (more than many restaurants charge and let's be honest here, KC is no Napa Valley). When I asked about a difference in pricing for weekdays instead of weeknight bookings, the woman on the phone said "Lady, that's our pricing" and HUNG UP ON ME. You guys need to learn what customer service is. I guess I'll find another business that would welcome 50 new customers and over 2 K in revenue. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO KC WINE OR KC PUMPKIN PATCH AGAIN. read more
