Pork Katsu Don*
Jooy C.

Cool new spot for ramen and Japanese food! Originally from Japan, apparently this is the only the second location in the U.S. and the first in TX. The restaurant + bar is spacious, trendy, and modern. We tried both ramen and non-ramen dishes, and I think I will stick with the ramen dishes here in the future. The shoyu ramen has good flavor - no complaints here and would order again! The Katsu don caught my eye with the menu picture but was a slight disappointment. The shape of the bowl itself made it hard to eat, and I was expecting the pork to be crispier and the rice to topping ratio to be more evenly portioned (the dish was very rice heavy). Overall this is a cool place for date night or group hangout. Staff was welcoming and we do plan to be back!

2025 Houston restaurant week
Suelynn N.

We came here for Houston restaurant week for their dinner menu. Our waiter was nice and checked on us a few times. Our table was steady and clean. They added another table to our table bc the Houston restaurant week set was a lot of food. We had an assortment of vegetables and takoyaki as our first course. Our second course was pork, cutlet, and tofu salad. Our third course was sukiyaki kazzan (+$4) and curry rice. Our fourth course or desserts was, matcha tiramisu and ice kazzan (+$4). Overall the food was average but for $39 (except for the two upgrades) per person for a four course meal is an amazing deal. The food was very filling and we actually skipped out heading to the bars afterwards because we were so full. What makes this place a bit more different than others was that they give you a side of rice to eat with your leftover soup at the end of your clay pot entree. Since it's in a clay pot, the dish stays warmer longer. Plus, the visual effects of steam or dry ice smoke depending on what items you ordered. If I were to do this again, i would not do the tofu salad because their pork cutlet came with a small side salad already. If I had known that, I would had gotten that instead. Haha. And stick with the matcha tiramisu. The ice kazzan wasn't that great. I think the hype was from the dry ice used for a dish effect. The curry rice was more soupy than curry. The curry was very thin, liquid wise. Parking is free and out front.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't busy at all so we were sat as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was an older woman and she was very nice, she answered all the questions we had about the menu. We started off with the Fried Chicken Wings and Spicy Creamy Shrimp. I'd say skip the shrimp and order the wings! They were fantastic, the sauce is delicious. The shrimp was good too just basic. For ramen I ordered the Tantán ramen, the flavor was good but it was way too thick and barely had any broth. I got tired of it very quickly. My sister ordered the Karamiso and I think that was by far the better ramen. I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking this place out if you're in the area.

My 1st time here and i was surprise that the food was quite food. I didn't try ramen bcoz there r other options that other ramen places in town dont have it and it turn out to be good. The only thing was the service was extremely slow. The whole restaurant was empty and only 1 other table of 2 people. But it took over 25min to serve appertizer Then we had to wait 10min after we asked for our check. Not sure what happened but all of that should be avoidable. Good thing was the food was good :)

Stopped by for dinner with my family of 4 on a Sunday evening to try their HRW menu. We were seated right away and then the server came and explained the options which are plenty!! We placed our order with the server and then waited and waited and waited. Chris Brown's greatest hits were in a constant loop being played in the restaurant was entertaining. The restaurant was not too busy, but we did notice our server was also bartending. Finally after 50 minutes of waiting only person in the party first two courses arrived together. I asked why was it taking so long and they stated the kitchen was backed up. Eventually everyone's orders came out and everything was delicious. The long wait really ruined the experience for me because the food was great.

Plenty of parking outside. Love the decor on the inside. Staff were friendly. We ordered an appetizer that had chicken karage, octopus with fish flakes, and edemame. We also ordered the kazzan ramen with beef and sukiyaki broth. The presentation was fun, they place a cone shaped piece on top of your bowl as the steam comes out the spout it looks like a volcano. They mix it up for you, it was plenty to share with my bf. The broth was flavorful slightly sweet. Overall the food was tasty. Ordered the mochi ice cream in mango and strawberry, it was a nice way to calm that sweet tooth of mine. They also have shaved ice with ice cream. If you like ramen you should give this place a try!

Ramen cooking

Ramen, that's a nice little addition to the Heights area. This area is full of fast food places and dessert places as well. It's nice to have something warm and cozy in this neighborhood. Ramen - comes to your table in a super hot stone bowl and they proceed to pour the broth over your ramen and cover it with a open steam top bowl. So the ramen actually Cooks in front of you for a few minutes before they take the top off and you're able to eat it. They have instructions on the table of how to cook your ramen. Shrimp Fried Rice - the fried rice also comes in a piping hot stone bowl they bring the egg out raw and pour it into the stone bowl and it Cooks in front of you. Pretty cool things if you've never experienced it. The rice was pretty good and all of their items are very reasonably priced and large quantities for the cost. The shrimp in the rice were very large, wasn't expecting that. The service was interesting, we did have about four different people helping us throughout the dinner. They were all very kind and nice. I believe the gentleman's name was deandre the main guy helping us. He was nice and also appeared to be a great bartender from how I watched to making drinks. I did not partake in one myself but he seems to have a nice pour and good shaking hand. Enjoy!

Takoyaki and Kazzan Shoyu
Ann G.

I ordered the Kazzan Ramen and I thought it was okay. I love the dry ice effect though. My husband and I shared a takoyaki and Mt Matcha Ice Kazzan. Those were ok as well. The staff were nice but the service was slow. I like how this place is huge and they didn't mind our toddler just hopping around the booths. Overall, this place is ok and I'm not sure if I'd come back again.

Came here for my mother's birthday. Upon waiting for a table the hostess said it would take awhile when there was plenty of tables open. Midway of service they switched waitresses. The first one seemed annoyed and wasn't very helpful. Service wasn't good, food wasn't good either. Super salty. Very underwhelming and disappointing

Happy hour menu 11/24

Decided to randomly stop by Kazzan on a weekday for happy hour. It was quite empty - maybe 2-3 other parties in the whole restaurant. With that being said, service was quite fast and attentive. Berry blossom cocktail - I was hoping it'd taste like a cherry blossom, but it definitely didn't. It wasn't sweet and you can definitely taste the alcohol. So for those expecting weak drinks, that won't be an issue. Happy hour assorted appetizers included edamame, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. This was a miss for me. The takoyaki was pretty bland, I wished it had more flavor. The chicken karaage was definitely over fried, which made it more crunchy and dry than I wanted it to be. Ordered the volcano ramen (kazzan shoyu) because it was highly recommended. I always like to try a ramen spot's shoyu ramen because a good ramen spot shouldn't mess this up. Unfortunately, I would pass on this kazzan shoyu. Of course, great presentation with the stone bold and the lid, but that's all there is to it. The flavor was seriously lacking for me. Maybe I should've ordered it with nitamago (egg) to make it better, but I won't be ordering this again. Ended the meal with their green tea kakigori. Once again, nice presentation, but the taste was lacking for me. It definitely required more of the green tea taste. The presentation is misleading of how much shaved ice there actually is. This is shareable between two people for sure. The restaurant itself looks beautiful with its aesthetics and fully stocked bar, however the disappointment in food is what's stopping me from running back here. Would be willing to try again, but not any time soon. Maybe they just need more time to settle in. Thanks for the good service though, Kazzan.

Spicy creamy fried shrimp
Shannon T.

We wanted to check out this place after we saw a bunch of posts about it! We tried a wide assortment of dishes, some that we would get again and others probably not. We started with some appetizers and the most delicious was definitely the spicy fried shrimp! The flavor was creamy, a little spicy and was very crispy and delicious! We also got the pork cutlet, which was a delicious tonkatsu, perfectly fried with sauce. These were the two dishes I'd get again! The takoyaki was a little uncooked and mushy inside so the texture wasn't very pleasing. The assorted kushi was also waaaaay different than it had looked in pictures so it was a big suprise when it came out. The fried meats and vegetables were good but not worth $14....... For our main entrees we got the Kazzan sukiyaki ramen and the dry ramen. The sukiyaki ramen was fun to see but the soup really didn't taste like ramen broth. The broth was a good broth to drink but really tasted just like a normal soup with loots of cabbage flavor. We were also disappointed with lack of meat. Again, very different than the pictures on the menu. The noodles were also more like lo mein noodles than ramen noodles. Overall, it was okay but really wasn't ramen. The dried ramen we had was pretty good! It had lots of flavor but was almost too salty for me and a little too spicy for me as well. The servers were very kind and brought us our correct dishes when they made a mistake! All in all, I would still like come back for certain dishes and to try their cocktail drinks and desserts!

Kazzan Ramen is just okay to me. I must admit that I did go to a ramen spot and did not order ramen...but they was because the ramen options were a bit limited compared to other ramen spots that I have been to. I ordered one of the rice dishes and the meat while the flavor was good, the meat was such poor quality and I spent a majority of the time searching and picking for the edible pieces of beef in my bowl. My friend had the ramen and enjoyed it, but said that they have had better. The pros of this place are (1) our server was super sweet..they did not know much about the menu and told us that everything we asked was good but they were very pleasant (2) we went on a Wednesday at 7pm and it was completely empty so you probably don't have to worry too much about getting a seat.

Lychee sake
Jenn P.

My partner and I stopped by on a quiet Tuesday night--it was pretty empty, so we grabbed seats at the bar. We ordered the lychee sake and the "Matcha in My Dream" cocktail, and both were really good! The bartender did mention, with a bit of a sigh, that he wasn't a fan of making the cocktail because it had a lot of ingredients, which was a bit surprising since we were the only ones there. As for the ramen, it was decent. Not something I'd go out of my way for, but I wouldn't mind coming back if someone suggested it. The flavors were nice, just not exactly what I was looking for that night. Overall, an okay spot with great drinks.

Flying V Harvest was fantastic. I drank that broth like I just came out of the Sahara. So good. The Impossible meat fusion is a funny add but a good protein bump. It was a few days ago but I think I'm still full from that ramen bowl. The vibe is modern high ceiling bumping music; my in-laws found it to be too loud. I think they are giving you an excuse to lean in and get a little closer to your companion. The vibe is chic yet also casual so bring whoever you want but this would work for date night. The font on the menus is squint inducing so do your research ahead of time or prepare to spend more time perusing the menu than usual, especially with the dim lighting. They offer thin or thick noodles and can mix some broth options to adjust spice level. Drinks- the smoked in front of your face whiskey is a treat and a show. Solid spot. No regrets. Salivating at the thought of the next visit.

Their ramen is flavorful and solid and their service is consistent. Parking: parking is free in the garage around the corner from JINYA. We went during the week and the garage was not packed. There's also paid street parking around the restaurant that you can find but look for signs to know when you have to pay and when you don't. Service: service here is very good. They have an army of waitresses and waiters who check on tables and we never had to ask for refills or never had to flag down someone. Our food came out in a timely manner. The one thing I will say about service is the appetizers we ordered came out right before our ramen so we had all of our food at one time which was a lot. I wish they would've spaced out the food timing a little more. Ambiance: JINYA has a modern interior and open concept. They have tables, booths, and 2 big community tables in the center of the restaurant. The restaurant playlist is hip and modern. The inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so if you have bad eyesight, get ready to use your flashlight to read the menu. Food: we ordered two ramens and the gyoza and edamame. Gyoza: these were fried well and had a gyoza sauce that came on the table. The wrapper was thin and they were not too oily. We would order this again. Edamame: this was typical edamame. Nothing too special. Would not get this again when we come back. Creamy Classic Tori-Paitian: this is a chicken ramen with wavy noodles that came with fried enoki mushrooms, chicken chasu, butter, spinach and a corn rib. This ramen was rich in flavor and had so many fun, delicious toppings. The corn run was grilled nicely and I wish I had more of them in my bowl. I'm a sucker for enoki mushrooms and this did not disappoint. I took the enoki mushrooms out of the ramen immediately so they didn't get soggy fast and that was the move if you want the mushrooms to stay crunchy. The chicken broth was rich and light which was a great combo. I finished this bowl to the last drop. JINYA Chicken Ramen: my girlfriend got the chicken ramen with a side of bamboo. Warning on the bamboo: the bamboo comes dressed in sesame oil and sole hot oil so they are a little spicy. The chicken ramen broth was once again rich with flavor and light. The chicken chase was good and this ramen comes with thin noodles instead of wavy noodles. Overall JINYA hits the spot when craving ramen or some hot soup on a cold day. The chicken broth is legit and I will be closing back to try the pork broth soon. My only qualm with JINYA is the price at over $17 per bowl of ramen. There are cheaper ramen places but JINYA flavor makes up for the priciness.

However, since crawfish season is one of my favorite times of the year, I had to come back to try their limited edition ramen. Just like my first visit, the staff were extremely friendly, the food came out incredibly quickly, and the overall experience felt comforting and welcoming. I ordered the seasonal bowl, The Crawmen, which came with crawfish tonkotsu broth, andouille sausage, bayou butter, corn, and peppers. While the bowl was clearly inspired by a crawfish boil, I felt like it could have leaned even further into those flavors with more crawfish and a stronger boil seasoning overall. The ramen was definitely delicious, but the broth did not quite have enough crawfish boil flavor to fully separate it from their standard tonkotsu ramen. At times, it mostly tasted like the original broth with andouille sausage added in. Even so, it was still an enjoyable bowl of ramen, though I would probably stick to one of their regular menu options over this seasonal special. My mom and I also shared the Karaage, which arrived very quickly while still being piping hot, crispy, and juicy inside. On the other hand, I would personally skip the Sakura Sweet Tea and Strawberry Yuzu Lemonade in the future since they mostly tasted like their regular counterparts without adding anything particularly unique. Overall, I still really enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and reliable quality of this place, especially the ramen and karaage. While the seasonal bowl did not fully live up to its concept for me, the experience itself was still enjoyable enough that I would gladly return again.

I was seriously tempted to order another plate since it only came with 6-7 pieces. Next, all the ramens came out. I got the shoyu truffle which I enjoyed a lot. I liked that you can taste the truffle flavor without it being overpowering. Also liked that the broth itself wasn't as salty as some ramen places. They deserve 4.5 stars because come on it's 24/7 ramen. Parking is cool but limited. First impression walking in was that it has this really unique and dope vibe. I love the set up and it was giving spacious. There were cassette tapes aligned on the wall in the booth we sat in, which I thought was very creative. There was Anime characters above the doors when you first walk in, with Anime playing on the TVs at the bar. Oh yeah, THERES A FULL BAR if you ready to get your drink on. Now, off rip the host was annoying. She was kinda rushy and caught an attitude when we asked for a booth. We can't even describe the vibe she gave off fr. It was just BLEH. Our table was clean which is very important to us and our waitress Yasmin was kind and patient with our questions, and dietary substitutions. We ordered the Super Saiyan Nachos as an appetizer for $16. Maaann, these were so delicious!!!!! We actually substituted the pork for shiitake mushrooms and when I tell y'all we were surprised at the portion We both looked at each other like "YAAASSSSSS" Next came our Ramen orders which didn't take long at all. Not that we were counting because we were INDULGED in those nachos LOL Babii rated her Oxtail Ramen a '7/10' for $25. She would've preferred to get shiitake mushrooms because she particularly didn't like the fact that the Oxtails were shredded and not on the bone (which is what we both expected when reading it). She also would've liked if they gave her a spice option since she likes spicy ramen. Unfortunately, we had to purchase a nasty 'Kappa' sauce which was not worth the $1.50. To her the portion size was A1, however we paid for the meat so it wasn't worth the $25. Now, the Vegetable Garden to me was a '8.5/10' it was good, had amazing portion size and they were not lacking in the texture department. I mean, the spinach noodles were delish, vegetable cooked very Al dente. I cannot complain on that part. To me it was missing a bit of flavor, maybe salt would've done the trick. Overall though, it did have the flavor of the mushrooms which wasn't bad. Most importantly though, I felt light after consuming my meal. Therefore, I have to give it all a high rating. GO TRY THIS PLACE OUT, ITS WORTH THE TRY
