A decent but unspectacular bagel spot…read more When I go to New York, I make a bee line for Murray's or Dal or H&H, and I am always pleased with the fine quality of the bagel, which I always order with white fish salad Did the same thing here and I can't say it was bad bagel, but it was not in overwhelmingly impressive bagel I did like the bagel baking robot more than the bagels

I saw the fresh bagels and I went towards the small freezer. I got a package of the cinnamon raisin and ordered a pepperoni pizza bagel to go. They only have that topping and cheese only $7 & $8. Pizza bagels are served from 11 am on. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. You walk to your right when you come in and order and then go to the opposite side to pick up your order. There's a menu to look at on the counter. Lots of different bagels to choose from. You can order it toasted or not. And there's plenty of toppings and don't forget to ask what their daily special is. They have catering options (see the attached menu). The seating area is small & there's spots to sit outside. Parking is only on the street and they do have 1 handicapped parking by the front entrance. The fresh-frozen bagel is perfect once thawed and then toasted. I had mine with butter and it was great. I can't compare it to a NYC bagel (since I've never been there) but I enjoyed it. It would have been cool to see the factory pumping out bagels, but since I came by around 11, I'm guessing it was clean up time.

It's conveniently just off of San Pablo and Marin, with plenty of street parking. The small shop had every table taken, at 11:00 on a Saturday morning, and a line - almost - out the door. I brought home a half a dozen sliced bagels, a green onion and horseradish smear, a chai iced tea and a "Bougie" bagel. As bagels go, these were the quintessential perfect, chewy and soft, fragrant bagels. The cream cheeses were delish and perfect for family to build their fav bagel meal. The Chai, was what will keep me coming back, however! It was perfectly sweetened, versus the sickening sweet of many shops, with a nice oat foam on the top. Don't forget the cinnamon sprinkle, which added the fragrant element. I had to wrestle my 20 yo for it when I got home. Now I'm left craving more.

(something I have missed moving up from LA) GREAT bagel sandwiches, with several vegan options (including not just 1 but 2 cream cheese options). I love to get a bougie bagel. they also have oat milk cold foam!!!! +1 for that.... but -1 for no hot espresso drinks (just drip coffee). anyhoo-- I usually get a Thai iced tea or London fog. it gets VERY BUSY & they run out of bagels, so if it's after 11am check their online ordering before heading over (nothing like the heartbreak of a closed bagel shop......) Very hip & friendly staff Indoor & outdoor seating Easy parking on San Pablo Ave

But unfortunately, these are dry, flavorless, overcooked, and just miss the mark. And I like big holes in my sourdough, but not my bagels. I'm a New Yorker, but I really don't care if these are "NY style" or "Montreal style", I just want a bagel that doesn't taste like cardboard or like it was baked a week ago. Perhaps the quality has degraded over time, since I see so many positive reviews. Hope the owners read this review and continue to iterate, because the Bay Area really could use more good bagel options.

On Tuesdays, Panera sells you 13 for about $7. Einstein Bagels a la Costco sells you like 12 for $5. Berkeley Bagels has a great chew on their bagels. Here you're absolutely paying for artisan. Imitating the NY style of baking and boiling, effectively resulting in a tough and drier outside, with a hearty chew on the inside. I love the seeds and spices on the everything bagel. Theirs are more pronounced, more pungent, sharper salt... difficult to explain. Definitely for the occasional splurge. Perhaps it's not fair to put a price on an art of a bagel. In the end, though, I felt, after eating one, that for the difference in texture, whatnot, it was not worth the steeeeep price. Weren't differentiated enough for me. And yep, I surely did read that NYT article as well.
