    Sweet potato burrata
    Derek J.

Best Japanese food I've had in awhile! This little secret popup in Berkeley across the North Face outlet has the kindest Japanese couple and homiest of food. The must get and their most popular is the sukiyaki onigiri. I've had nothing like it before. They put an egg yolk wrapped around the rice and wrap that with sliced beef, perfectly grilled. The sweet potato burrata was also amazing. Just the combination of sweet potatoes and burrata cheese. Dan dan mochi was also good, I wish i could take the sauce home. Probably will skip the eggplant next time but it's a unique sweet taste! We wanted to try the Wagyu katsu but they sold out. :( The couple working the popup were really nice and polite even when i accidentally said "konichiwa" to say thank you. Ample seating outside as well!

So good! We had them at the First Fridays in the Berkeley wine district. The food was delicious and they were so nice! We got the takoyaki and the beef nikumaki. Both cooked so well. The Takoyaki had big chunks of octopus. I've never had a nikumaki before but jt was my favorite!!!

My friends and I checked out Xulo's popup at Morrell's Bread in Berkeley on March 21 after seeing…read moreit being advertised on San Francisco Chronicle's Instagram page. The pop-up operated from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and we showed up at 9:45 a.m., the line was already down the block. There were three burrito options on the pop-up menu: - Chx colorado: mild chile CA red sauce, mayocoba, jack cheese - Huitlacoche: shiitakes and oyster mush, jack cheese, black beans - Bean & cheese: frijoles negros, cheddar, red + green sauce Of the three options, my wife and I ordered a huitlacoche and bean & cheese burrito. Our friend ordered one of the chicken burritos so I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try all three. Of the three burritos, it was honestly hard to choose a favorite because each one was so different in taste. I will have to say though, the bean & cheese burrito, despite being the most "normal" one of the bunch, seemed to be the one that everyone would order again out of the three. The star of the show for me though was the tortillas. The tortillas were toothsome and were grilled to perfection. I'll definitely have to pick up a pack next time I'm shopping down the street at Berkeley Bowl. If you're able to catch Xulo at a pop-up, I would definitely make room in your schedule to do so. The burritos here are delicious.

Similar to my previous review for Year of the Snake, Xulo was the Saturday pop up off 8th Street in Berkeley with a few different burrito menu options for the day including their notable bean & cheese, a meat option, and veggie option. Omg, what a treat! Everyone was so incredibly nice, and you could tell they have a really special thing going. They were selling their hot sauce too, and that was fire! I would love to try more items, but it's so hard to say no to the classic bean and cheese. It's just such a classic and when done correctly, chef's kiss! I'll have my eye out for their next pop-up in the area, and will most def be purchasing those tortillas. On their website it lists markets that sell the packaged tortillas like Picnic in Albany and Berkeley Bowl..nice!

I loved the flavor of the crab it tasted fresh and not too salty. The garlic noodles were perfectly cooked not too much garlic to the point your breath stinks. The orange sauce was sweet and yummy. I also love how it was given with salad and a flower. The young girl who took our order was very kind. Cash App and Venmo only. I can't wait to come back and try more.

I really don't have any special requests, just left it to sitha to create a menu for me and my family based on what's in season and for her to surprise me. Sitha delivered some food to our Airbnb in time for dinner . The menu: - kaw Trey saht chrouk beh Choun (braised fish and pork belly) -stuffed chicken wings kreung ( lemongrass paste ) -stir fry clams -haal Leah (Cambodian sun dried clams ) -raw bloody clams with prohoak ( fermented fish dip) -steamed rice I never had raw bloody clams before, it was a nice touch with the Cambodian prohoak sauce . The braised fish and pork belly was delicious , sweet/ salty and savory . With the crunchy cucumbers was the family favorite dish. Of course the stuffed wings continues to be our family must order when we have a chance .

Since this spot is within…read morewalking distance from my office, I decided to check it out--and OMG, if you're looking for food that touches your soul and makes you tap out, this is the place. I ordered the shrimp and grits (they didn't make it to their photo op because I tore them up too fast), plus shrimp and fries to take home to my husband. My coworker got the oxtails over rice. I also couldn't resist grabbing a sweet potato pie and a peach cobbler. Pro tip: Order online ahead of time. Everything is cooked fresh--and you can taste it--so there will be a wait if you don't. I've been struggling to find a spot that can make truly savory, well-seasoned grits, and baby... when I tell you I FOUND my place?! I'm low‑key mad I've been two blocks away from grits this good. My husband loved the fried shrimp with his fries. Even though the fries cooled on my walk back to the office, he said the shrimp were hittin', and you can see from the picture they don't play around with portion size. My coworker with the oxtails said he had to tap out and take a walk afterward--the food was about to put him straight to sleep, in the best way. And don't get me started on the desserts. That peach cobbler? Absolutely gorgeous--someone took their time with that basket‑weave crust. The sweet potato pie was so good I don't even have the words. Needless to say, I will absolutely be back--and you should go too.

I inquired about the oxtails, turkey wings, and the shrimp & grits. I ordered the turkey wings with rice and gravy along with a side of macaroni & cheese. I delivered the meal to my mom, we both were anxious to dig in. The turkey wings were so fresh and tender, like literally fall off the bone tender. The macaroni and cheese reminded me of my Auntie Ruby's recipe on the holidays. This restaurant deserves a 10/10 yes! I talked to the owner outside, she encouraged me to try some sides while I waited for my food, she was super sweet and kind. I shall return to try those oxtails or maybe even the catfish and fries.
