    Do they have paella?

A couple of times a month on Sundays we cook large paellas in the patio. Check the Instagram for updates on when.

I've always loved their fish tacos, which to me are better than any I've ever had in SoCal, including San Diego! Like their other permanent locations, here you will also find tacos with various fillings, lunch plates and other items. Walk on in and you'll find an airy clean open interior with high ceilings and plenty of seating and tables all around. Scan the laminated paper menu at the counter. The menu isn't big, but it's rather focused. No burritos here, just tacos, sandwiches (tortas) and big plates! Vegetarian/Vegan? There are several tofu-based offerings and a bigger salad too. Order up at the counter, grab a pager, find a seat, enjoy the Latin music over the speakers and before you know it, your order is presented before you. Trying to stay "healthy", I decided against my all-time favorite Baja fish tacos, and ordered the Pollo de Cholita plate. With this you get a big boneless chicken thigh marinated with herbs and mild spices with white rice, beans (black or pinto), a side salad of fresh mixed greens and three delicious fried plantains. The chicken thigh is flattened thin, but was totally moist and tender and most importantly flavorful and not overly marinated on the tongue. The rice with black beans and mixed greens in a light vinaigrette were the perfect neutral companion to the chicken, with the plantains providing a lightly fried sweet contrast and finish to the meal.. Suffice it to say, I loved this dish, and look forward to coming back!

Mind you, I'm in a different headspace when I come out of the gym, definitely hungry but flummoxed by guilt over excessive calorie intake after working out. Tacos can be fun, even tofu ones, and sanguches too, but I decided to go for what I surmised to be a healthy choice. It also turned out to be the priciest plate on the menu, the $14.65 Pollo de Cholita. I didn't regret my selection. It centered on a flattened boneless chicken thigh marinated in herbs & spices and grilled. It was surrounded by rice covered in pinto beans, a mixed green salad, and grilled plantains (Photo 7). Like my other experiences at other Cholita Linda, it was satisfying enough because the ingredients were fresh and the execution fine if you're looking for homestyle Mexican comfort food at a non-taqueria price point. FOOD - 4 stars...satisfying enough and healthy AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...pretty spacious for a fast food operation SERVICE - 4 stars...quite attentive and efficient TOTAL - 4 stars...dependable...I know what I'll get at Cholita Linda RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Tacos Oscar - chips & salsa morita

Amazing. Purely delicious, cuuute ambiance…read more They make their own tortillas, which is always a plus. The flavors of each taco were outstanding. I ordered everything on their current menu. Tostada beans gigante, the pork shoulder, barbacoa, charred broccoli, mushroom, and chicken tinga. Just a lil lime on top, and enjoy! I didn't even need to add more salsa, which I would usually add to my tacos at other places. Tostada vegan was my fave. All the meat tacos were also fantastic, all were tender and juicy. Your taste buds bout to be blown away. They have patio style seating in the front and the back. cute for a lil date night without breaking the bank, or to go out and entertain friends outta town, or just to treat yo'self real good. so happy.

They have outdoor seating both in front and in their back patio, the front being sunnier while the back was cooler and shaded. It does seem like it can get crowded there due to the amount of customers who may choose to eat here instead of takeout, though. The food came out within 5 minutes. They also have a self-service water pitcher, and pitchers of half-and-half and oat milk next to it, which I assume is provided for those who get coffee (I didn't read through the entire drink menu). I got the vegan breakfast burrito, which has pan fried potatoes, roasted peppers and onions, mayocoba beans, chile morita mayonesa, avocado, corn, cilantro in a flour tortilla and it contains soy. It was savory, just a little bit spicy but tolerable for someone who can handle just mild level so I felt it was a good addition for providing more flavor given vegetarian burritos can otherwise often end up very plain. Quite a bit of avocado. I liked the potatoes and beans, and the insides didn't feel too mushy texture-wise. Admittedly not the hugest quantity for a burrito of this price ($15 before tax/tip) but I appreciate that they have several vegetarian and vegan options on their menu. I also ordered the strawberry agua fresca - listed as agua de fresca on the menu and this is the only flavor available, for $6. It was pretty good, fruity and sweet but not overwhelmingly so. I tried some of the chips and salsa morita that a friend shared with me, and thought it was decent - they give a massive quantity of chips (it would be good for sharing with a group) which are crispy and lightly salted, and the salsa is tasty and very mild in spice level.
