They had pre-made rice plates too. The quality was decent but after a while its possible to get tired of the same-oh, same-oh. One day I began seeing a red food truck from my office window, as opposed to the plain unmarked white one. It turns out to be Golden Gate Bistro, who specializes in burgers made to order. I tried both the Akaushi Cheeseburger and Grilled Chicken Sandwich and can recommend both. Akaushi is from Japanese Brown cows, and one of several sources of Wagyu. It'll cost more than In and Out or Habit Grill but its justifiable with the juicy burger. I also love their thick-cut, perfectly seasoned fries. If burgers aren't your thing, they also offer up smoked ribs, Impossible burgers, and the usual Mexican favorites like Quesadillas.

The wings were not good. Their idea of garlic parmesan wings consisted of chopped garlic sprinkled on otherwise bland wings. It looked and tasted like the wings were overcooked and I didn't taste any parmesan. The tater tots were good, crispy and salty enough. The burgers were underwhelming. Like people say, their burgers are gigantic but still not worth the high price. The patties were flavorless and I couldn't even taste their house sauce. It didn't add any flavor to it. I've had smashburgers taste better than this burger (For the Win, With Love Always, etc.). I think a big mac has more flavor than their burgers. First off I ordered ribs and got brisket instead, and the brisket is not well cooked or seasoned. It tasted like a hungry man microwavable dinner. Absolutely no pink, just grey sad beef. But the sides are what really killed it. The baked beans was literally just a third of a can of Buschs beans, no additional seasoning or anything. The least they could do is throw some pepper and pork fat in there. The potato salad was somehow worse. Also completely unseasoned, just over mashed over cooked potatoes and a little mayo as far as I can tell. Put some pickle juice or relish or horseradish in there, at least salt and pepper. The BBQ sauce is very obviously store bought and cheap, it's sickeningly sweet. Also the person working the register was actively mean mugging me and didn't speak to me at all other than to ask for the money. And for 25 bucks, I wasn't expecting to have my mind blown, but my experience was altogether so poor, the portions too small, and everything was disappointing. For 25 dollars worth of groceries you could make five bigger servings of actually edible versions of the same thing. Or go down the street to Heads and Tails BBQ. It's still not authentic southern BBQ, but for the same price you can get significantly better food at a place you can actually sit down and eat at. If you actually enjoy and respect barbeque, do yourself a big favor and avoid this place like the plague.

Tommy's is every bit as good as these places. I had the two meat plate with brisket (the ultimate bbq test) pork ribs with beans and coleslaw. Did the pull test on the brisket and it responded perfectly. They even thru in a few burnt ends Ribs pulled from the bone easily and the finish was perfect. Coleslaw was just the way I like it, a little sweet and crisp. Beans were really good, they can be all over the place but these had the perfect finish of sweet and savory. I don't live very close to Tommy's but this will be my go to anytime to eat or bring a meal home.

Taste and flavors are hit and miss. The BBQ proteins tasted good, but if you are supposed to be watching your salt intake, then make sure your portion is limited and controlled. Most of the flavor comes from the BBQ sauce. The loaded potato was our favorite and more than enough for 2 people as a meal. This past weekend I found myself getting down and dirty with these tender, flavorful bbq pork ribs, mac n cheese, and of course the Filipinx side of me had to add some rice.
