Ordered bacon, egg, and cheese. No bacon...
    Zoriyah C.

Ordered and paid for two bacon, egg, and cheese bagels. Both missing the bacon. Food was bland. Size of the bagel was small compared to what I get in the city for the same price. Not a good first impression and I'm left unsatisfied.

I really loved this place. It is a small but busy store with fresh bagels and homemade cream cheese. The bagels are reasonably priced for being homemade and a good size. Not as chewy as I like them but still very good. They have many options for flavored cream cheese and we went with the vegetable crunch which was light yet filling. They also have day old bagels for sale- 6 for 6$ which seems like a great price! The staff was very quick and it seems to be a regular place for locals nearby. While it is small, there seems to be a little seating/standing area inside and some seating outside.

On my way to my son's early 8am little league game. No breakfast this morning, but no worries, something will come up on the drive. At this point i'm thinking to myself: It's 750am, so it'll have to be a quick get-it-in breakfast. No sooner did those thoughts enter my head when Berkeley Bagels appeared on the horizon, so we pulled over and hustled in. The morning line was short, only two people in front of me and before I knew it the lady working the counter took my order. We ordered an everything bagel and cheese bagel with cream cheese along with a medium coffee. Total ran around $10. We were back in the car only a few minutes away from our destination, chowing down on some delicious bagels, and made it to practice with not a minute to spare. The coffee I chose out of the three available was a strong Brazilian medium roast, and my toasted bagel with cream cheese really hit the spot.

The best bagel breakfast sandwich in Berkeley Their bagels rival Boichik Bagels up on College Avenue--i.e. wait-in-like-outside-the-store amazing. Super nice people behind the counter round out a super nice experience. Thanks!

Service was amazing. The staff is super friendly. It's a cozy small place that makes you feel like home. Everything is fresh. My favorite is the BLT with avocado. Definitely a hidden gem in Berkeley.

Had an garlic bagel BLT and that was by far the hardest BLT I've ever eaten. It hurt the roof of my mouth to the point it was raw. Definitely stay away from that and stick with a different bagel and cream cheese. Did like that they had a bundle option for day old bagels.

Sausage, Asiago bagel extra toasted, cucumbers, sun dried tomatoes.

The interior crumb had a Goldilocks structure: it was open and light, yet it bounced back when pressed and twisted. The bagels will hold shape under a sandwich without becoming dense. Unfortunately, the bagels we received were very pale and had no crust to speak of. The bagels had a gentle tang of fermentation but it was so subtle you could miss it if you weren't looking out. Doubly unfortunate was that something must have burned in the oven because all of the bagels tasted distinctly of smoke. It was unpleasant enough that we could not finish the batch. I hope that quality control steps up soon!

The bagels were pale with uneven color that edged into greenish brown in places. When you bit in, there was no crust to speak of. It gave way to an interior that was chewy but not in the classic bagel sense of low moisture dough. Rather, it was enriched with oil or some kind of conditioner like the kind used in grocery store bagels so they stay fresh for longer. The bagel's one virtue was its flavor: it had a strong malty taste like a classic NYC recipe. The "pink label" cream cheese, however, was delightful. It had a rich flavor -- like a spoonful of yogurt, as opposed to milk -- but the effect was subtle and not overly tangy. They were the best freezer bagels I've ever had, but in the future I'll put their schmear on a fresh dozen from somewhere else.

My favorite bagel in NY is an egg everything with scallion so I ordered an eggything with chive. Glad I did because the egg and egg everything bagels were being discontinued the week after I left so the lady helping us encouraged us to buy in bulk. The bagel was delightful and chewy and the chive cream cheese was tangy and flavorful. We brought back half a dozen eggything bagels to freeze and savor on the weekends. If you're in Berkeley or the Bay Area, make a stop to check out the town and grab a bagel.

I'm very happy to report that this location has completely changed my mind and now I'm a Boichik fan through and through! I love that the first thing you see when you walk in is a giant window that lets you look into their processing area! It's great to be able to see where and how your food is being made. They also designed their customer flow very well. You walk in, turn right, and order then you circle left to the tables and pickup counter. I got a tub of their Pesto & Sundried Tomato Cream Cheese, a variety of bagels, and also a lox bagel to go. In the spirit of seasonal items, I also tried the sun-dried tomato and pesto cream cheese on a toasted bagel. Highly recommend!
