Thought I had found my new "place", but won't go back after today. I never leave this kind of post, but felt I had to this time. Three weeks ago I got a dip French manicure and regular pedicure for my wedding. It was my first time getting dip nails and I was so impressed with their professional service and the quality of work. The place was clean and comfortable and they seemed to have several regulars there at the same time. The manicure was absolutely perfect and held up so well. However when I went back today to have the dip nails removed, I ended up greatly disappointed with the professionalism of their service. I thought they might be less busy on a Monday, but they were still busy. They asked if I could wait 15 minutes as a walk in and that was no problem. Not being familiar with the process of having nails removed and trusting that they would provide a professional service, based in great part on their good Yelp reviews, I was a little surprised when the tech clipped the ends of the nails then used a loose acrylic nail to wedge between the dip and my natural nail to pry them off. Thinking this must somehow be normal, I went along, even though it seemed rough and was uncomfortable. Then, while trying to pry off the last one on my left thumb, she was too aggressive and tore my natural nail down into the nail bed, and said a quick, "sorry". Still thinking this was somehow normal and that "these things happen". She filed and lightly buffed them, added some cuticle oil, and then had me wash my hands. I paid the $10 fee and left a $5 tip. Once I got I in my car I just kept thinking that process could not be right. Sure enough when I looked online, it isn't and every site says that approach damages your nails. In thinking back, the tech seemed to be in a rush to get to another client who was getting mani-pedis with her daughter (dip for her and gel for her daughter). I would gladly have paid much more than $15 for her to have done it correctly and not to have torn my nail! read more

Loany is always super sweet and accommodating, and she always has a smile on her face. The Spa has a relaxing feel every time I come in and many services to try. Walked in was greeted OK. Was new to this Place and wasn't sure the guy I booked with who she was so I sat down and waited a little longer than I Thought I then realized my girl was running behind so everything was cool. I had previously had my nails done in California and they were done really well so I wanted to come back home to Texas being new here and find a nice salon. I had read the reviews here and picked out my girl. She did a fabulous job. We went over a few options that I could do and I will try a different shape and style next time but am very pleased. Being in the industry I am very picky on how they look how they come out and this girl was on point. I also got a pedicure and I didn't get the girl's name but she was very meticulous getting to the details. Paint Job perfect. read more

I went in Saturday morning to get a gel manicure. I asked for matte black, when my nails came out of the curing machine they were all all bumpy looking under the top coat so she took them off and realized the gel hadn't cured she rushed and "fixed" them but they were worse than before & I had an appointment so I couldn't stay any longer. As the day went on I could feel the wet gel moving under the top coat and at one point the gel just peeled back. This photo was taken 5 hours after my gel manicure. They were already starting to peel and you can tell the paint is still wet. I ended up going to another salon & paying to have them removed. It's unfortunate that I paid $45 for nails that didn't even last a day. read more

I've been here 4 times now. Each experience has been different, so I feel that consistency is an issue. I've been twice around midday on a weekday, and twice on a late Saturday afternoon. Each time I've gone on a weekday, I've had a good experience. The salon technicians have taken their time, are thorough, patient, polite, and friendly, and I leave having had a nice, relaxing experience. My last experience on a Monday lunch break was awesome. I now get a natural mani & pedi combo. I enjoyed the entire experience and felt welcomed. The two times I've been on a late Saturday afternoon (around 5:30PM or 6PM), I've felt rushed. The technicians did not take their time and I left feeling as though they were hurrying up to ensure that the shop could close promptly at 7pm. If a business needs to stop taking walk-ins by a certain time to ensure that it closes promptly, then that's what they should do as opposed to creating an atmosphere in which a customer feels hurried. Every time I've been here, the salon has been clean and odor free. I also appreciate the complimentary beverage and competitive pricing. There's always plenty of parking in the lot. I think this salon is worth your money and time as long as you go during "off peak" hours. read more

I am new to the area, looking for a nail salon. I called and they were able to accommodate me within 20 minutes. I was immediately seated, and started to choose my color. I did not get the nail tech's name but he was great! I got a milk & honey pedicure including wax, and hot stones. Their prices are comparable to other salons I've visited. The service here was alright! I got the second tier pedicure and they skipped the calf massage which was kind of a bummer. I would have gotten the less expensive one if I didn't want that. The manicure was alright but felt rushed and she made me feel like I was annoying her at a couple points. I did walk away with pretty toes and decently pretty fingernails, though she definitely messed up a bit on one of them. It was fine. There were no surprises at checkout so at least that was nice. read more

Found my new place! Treated myself to a dip set with a tip. She did a great job with lots of attention to detail. I really enjoyed my experience. My powder dip nails look fantastic, they do it just the way I like there. I just moved to the area and have been going to the Posh2 salon because it's right across from my house and had my nails done there 4 times and regret it each time. (I know, my bad) I wish I would have looked and seen that Kay's has the best reviews in the area. They deserve all 5 stars I'm giving. My pedicure was amazing. Next time I think I'll ask not to have my finger nails and toes done at the same time so I can really enjoy that foot and leg massage! read more

Amy is lovely. She explained the difference between dip and gel as well as other options. She listened to what I wanted for a color and sort of made me my own. I have been to this salon many times. I've been pleased with the mini's except for this last one combined w/ a pedi. The pedi was the worse. The last time I was there the tech cut into my skin twice. The 2nd time I screamed out in pain. I should have got up and left. The worse was the owner was there and I know she had to have heard me scream but she didn't bother coming over. Every nail tech glanced my way and the other clients. I can't seem to find a nail salon that takes their time, can understand English enough to follow instructions or to care about their clients. I have given them too many chances and will stop going. read more

They really seem to take their time versus other places I've visited in the past. My tolerance level is high and I'm usually an easy going person. That being said, it irks me that I have to even give this place ONE star. I was hoping to find an awesome nail salon that my office girls and I could go to during our lunch hour. The hunt is still on! Being Asian, I've never experienced being talked about right in front of my face in my own native language. Why? Because as every Asian person knows, if you're not sure which ethnicity a person is, you tactfully ASK. You DON'T 1. Remark on how ugly her nail is. 2. Make a snide remark about her weight 3. Criticize the color she selected 4. Comment on how difficult you think her friend is going to be about her nails 5. Say inappropriate, off-color jokes to your co-worker. Did I like my nails? Ehhhh. It wasn't what I envisioned but it wasn't bad and it was my color choices. Did I let them know that I know their language? Hell yeah! Will I ever come back or recommend this place? Ha! I've been coming to Kay's for about a year now. Today, I had an appointment at 6pm. I was 8 mins late in traffic due to construction around their area. When I came in to see my girl I noticed she'd just started putting tips on a new persons nails. I'm told that I'll be waiting a minimum of 25 minutes which is a lie nails take 1hour per person, roughly. I'd already waited an hour in order to get my nails done for last appointment of day but now expected to wait even longer because I'm 8 minutes late.. yet I've never missed an appointment and very rarely late. Pretty unbelievable. No apology, nothing! I work in healthcare, I'm tired! For me to wait an hour after getting off work in order to get my nails done... make an appointment and then to deal with this.. I cannot recommend. read more

My sister and I came in together for mani and pedi's. They get us set up in the pedi chairs and have two people working on my sister (mani and pedi at the same time) while I just sat there with my feet in the water until it got cold and my feet were pruny. I will be going to a different salon next time. **gave it 3 stars because when I was FINALLY helped, the lady was very kind. read more

Today was my first time here and I will definitely be back. I got the signature pedicure ($35) and that included all the normal pedicure stuff like trimming, cutting, heel scrubbing, painting etc .... plus parrafin wax, hot towels, and a 10 minute massage. BUT this was the first time in my many years of getting pedicures that I actually enjoyed the foot/ leg massage I was given. Usually it seems like they rush through that part in a hurry and it's not at all relaxing - but this massage was actually enjoyable. Score! In addition to that - they didn't cut my nails too short. Don't you hate when that happens? Me too. Not here though. :) This is the most important thing though - they are CLEAN. Before she filled the water basin up with water, she put a plastic liner in the basin and turned on the water. I saw her remove the tools from a sealed plastic bag. And I saw them scrubbing down the work areas. I definitely appreciate that... last thing I need is some toe nail fungus from someone's skanky feet. ;) The atmosphere is also pleasant - they have lots of chairs!! They also have a good polish selection. At the checkout, the manager asked me about my experience and seemed to geuinely care that I was happy. I recommend them for sure :) read more

I was looking for a place in this area since we moved here over 2 years ago & I finally found my new spot! The entire staff at Kay Nails is so sweet and very accommodating. I spent the remainder of my appointment trying not to cry and ultimately sat there in tears for much of the service. I came in hoping to feel refreshed and confident, but instead I left feeling embarrassed and awful. I strongly suggest that management provide sensitivity and customer-awareness training for employees. Comments about age or appearance can be incredibly damaging, and no client should leave a self-care appointment feeling worse than when they arrived.

They also somehow got glue on my fingers and I didn't get acrylic.Dealing with my pretty well kept nails and dealing with me as a customer felt like they had an agenda against me by the car I drive (an older model Toyota with sunspots), because trust me they were definitely judging. I applied aquaphor as directed and that's all that was really needed as the healing went on. After just one session, there is already a big difference and I can't wait to go back for many more!

I spent the remainder of my appointment trying not to cry and ultimately sat there in tears for much of the service. I came in hoping to feel refreshed and confident, but instead I left feeling embarrassed and awful. I strongly suggest that management provide sensitivity and customer-awareness training for employees. Comments about age or appearance can be incredibly damaging, and no client should leave a self-care appointment feeling worse than when they arrived.
