    This is my go-to nail salon. I've been going here for years and have had gel manicures easily last a month without chipping! Everyone is always impressed with how great my nails look. KBS has a great selection of paint colors, and offers many other beauty services. There's always an upbeat vibe and enjoyable conversation.

    This place is a disappointment. I came in here because I bought a Groupon and I was extremely disappointed by the way this place tries to nickel and dime people. They only allow you to book with a Groupon on limited (read off-peak) days/times and they force you to pay a deposit to reserve your appointment that they literally just pocket and keep to themselves without explaining why you are paying a fee and where the money goes. When I asked if my "deposit" that I ALREADY PAID could go toward my "Groupon Tax" that they wanted to charge me on top of the GROUPON which I had already paid plus tax and tip, they said no. Then when I asked them where the deposit money was going, and it I was going to be refunded because... that's how a deposit works... they said NO. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE. My manicure is chipping 30 minutes later. Waste of my money.

    I took the first appt in the morning and there were no other customers there which was lovely. The place is super cute and clean. I got a gel mani and reg pedi. I didn't feel rushed or anything. They followed COVID precautions. I'm definitely returning. Be sure to book on their website & I also recommend looking into their deals on group on for the full spa service!

    I've had multiple great experiences at this salon but after my last visit I sadly will never be able to trust this place again. I went in for an acrylic removal, which I could have done for free at home, but i really wanted to ensure my nails did not get damaged so I decided to go to the salon. I was helped by the very kind receptionist who mentioned that she had no esthetician training. I figured that I'm getting a simple, quick service so no biggie. Two hours later (this takes 45 minutes at most) after endless rounds of soaking, rough and uneven scraping (you should scrape from the cuticle down) and the electric drill file - my fingers were raw and my nails were drilled down so thin i thought if she drilled one more time she would hit the skin under the nail. Knowing the current state of our world, I kept it very polite but mentioned repeatedly that this seemed like it was taking a while and that i was in pain. By the time it hit the two hour mark, the owner finally came over to assist and I told her I don't think the other girl was doing this correctly because my nails are thinner than paper and raw. She said oh wow, yeah - she then proceeded to scrape off the remaining acrylic quickly and correctly. I saw her have a word with the other girl, but I was not given so much as an apology even after the owner told me it will take at least a month for my nails to grow back properly. After paying 20 dollars for the service and tipping each girl $5 I left the salon in tears from not only the pain I was in, but knowing that my nails were ruined for the foreseeable future and I was out $30. The real cherry on top though was that in the 12 hours after I left the salon - every single one of my nails broke down to the nub, leaving my fingers bloody and in even worse pain than before. I rarely write a review for anything but this is experience was so mind blowing to me. I hope the owner can maybe train her assistants more to ensure they know how to properly do the services she has them handle, or maybe just realize that an apology goes a long way with a repeat customer.

    tldr: amazing, absolutely stellar service, not impressed with results or cleanliness (+1 star for the service, 3 star results) Updated 3 to 4 stars: I think I was a bit harsh. A manicure is not all about the polish. At least half is actual care of your hands and that aspect was an A+. So results bumped to 3 stars. I really, really wish I could give this place five stars, but it just fell short on a couple important points. I got a spa manicure which included shaping, a clay mask, salt soak, exfoliating wash on top of the polish itself. Let's start with the positive! The owner, Kay, who was also my nail technician, is absolutely charming. They're expanding the salon to be a spa that even includes a sauna soon! (In around a month?) Kay was very careful when filing my nails, painting them and cleaning them up. Even though we ended up going past closing time, she didn't rush and took great care in shaping and painting my nails and giving them plenty of time to dry. I really like my nail shape! I liked how they had a large selection of Essie nail polish, which is my favorite brand. Kay also talked a bit about all the different kinds of nail art they do at the salon, though I did not partake. The final cuticle oil at the end was also very moisturizing and smelled great. Also, I used my Classpass points to buy the service, so it cost less than the listed $30. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. First thing: There were a lot of little bugs and flies in the store. The owner mentioned that they were because they kept the door open earlier in the day, so I'll assume this is not usually the case. Even so, I was on the lookout for bugs the entire time I was there, and that was not enjoyable. Second: The nail files were used and put back after being used on a client, aka not disposable. This is not terribly sanitary. The clippers for cutting cuticles also don't seem sanitized, they were only wiped on a towel. Overall, the nail station did not look clean either. At first, I thought this was just me having too high standards (I don't get manicures often) but I checked online and found this: https://www.self.com/story/6-red-flags-that-youre-nail-salon-isnt-hygienic-enough/amp Third: The top coat bottle was pretty much empty and the very last bits of it was used for my manicure. The polish looked tacky and too thick. I think this may be the cause of the wrinkling on my nails. (See pictures) I didn't ask my technician to redo them because I felt bad for going over closing time already. There were also some small bubbles on my nails, but that's mostly hidden by the shimmer color I chose. Yay for that! The flaws are not too noticeable from far away with the right kind of lighting, but close up or if the nails catch the light, the job looks rushed and messy, though that's far from the truth. I might be even more disappointed at the poor result because Kay spent so much time and care on the polish. Overall, I'm hesitant to return, but I might give this place another go. I really want to support this business because I have a lot of respect for Kay, but the result quality just wasn't there this time.

    I went for a regular mani pedi. Everyone was nice and my toes came out good but I guess the nail tech got tired while doing my hands because I chose a sheer color and she only did two coats. The color is completely see through and there was nothing to dry my hands with. I was seated in a chair with a weak fan and it turned off after 3 minutes or so. Not sure if it's because I got a regular manicure but I was hoping for some more effort since tomorrow is my birthday :-/

    OK so let me start off by saying I wish I can give zero stars. This is a real time review. I have an appointment to get a pedicure and I have arrived 30 minutes early so I sit in my car and wait a little bit but I'm noticing that the salon is supposed to be open already so why are the gates down???? I said to myself you know what just chill because you are a little bit early for your appointment "even though they're supposed to be open and ready." I called the number over and over I stood outside. My car even fell in a pothole in trying to get here that's how mad I am like I feel like this is just the worst morning ever. Unprofessional unprofessional unprofessional. Don't even waste your time. I have a child I had to find a babysitter and everything this is a waste of money waste of time waste of my gas waste of my energy just the overall waste.

    I have been here twice for their colon hydrotherapy. I found out about them on Yelp. It was my first colonic a The tech made me feel very comfortable. She also gave me dietary tips on top of the procedure. The second time I went she remembered me and little details during our first conversation. The service was great and staff was delightful.

    I looked for a great nail esthetician in Bushwick for a longgggg time. I was so pleasantly surprised when I took a chance here. Vernette is now my regular esthetician and slaysssss my shape EVERY time. At other nail salons, I find myself being really picky and asking them to fix the shape - never with V. Only wish they had a larger selection of colors and I don't love the brand/quality of gel polish. My nails after four weeks are still pretty much perfect!

    The gel was most likely old. It's happened to me before at another salon. They did my nails over with a new bottle and it was perfect.

    DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!…read more I came in as a first time client for a Brazilian wax, and I have nothing bad to say about the actual results because she did a fine job. [EDIT: I am scrolling through her reviews and noticed that she has received another 1 star review from two years ago, where she responded to it by accusing them of not being in her client list, and that they had never come in for a service, BUT in the review they had mentioned her repeatedly waxing over the same area multiple times, which I experienced as well. This is a huge red flag considering that I had the same experience as the woman who left the review!!!] However, I find it misleading how there are no photos of the actual studio online, only photos of the building where the small space that you are actually getting waxed in is located, which is essentially a closed glass office cubicle with a privacy curtain between the door and hallway. So if you are looking for a more upscale experience I would not recommend this studio, every other room on the floor of this building was literally a small desk with a computer and a chair. I also noticed that she was leaving the used strips in a very messy pile on the table I was laying on by my feet, which is unusual to me compared to other experiences I have had at different studios. I didn't realize until we were done because when I shifted my feet to sit up, my sock went straight into a pile of used strips and used cotton pads. We weren't chatting during the wax which is fine, but she also randomly broke the silence and started talking about how the chipotle she ate the night before was hurting her stomach and that I was thankfully the last client of the day because she wanted to go home. Which was also kind of strange to me as a first time client. She also did not discuss aftercare with me in person, as I was paying at the end of my appointment she told me that she would send the aftercare instructions to my phone. I received an email with the aftercare instructions 24 hours after my appointment, and then a text message with the same instructions 3 hours after I received the email. This bothered me a lot, because the most important time window of aftercare is the 24 hours that come immediately after the appointment, and she did not send the information until that time frame had already passed. When I confronted her about it, her response was also very strange and unapologetic. I have included screenshots with the appointment timestamp as well as the aftercare email timestamp, and the text messages that we exchanged the day after the appointment. Overall, this was the most unprofessional wax I have ever received, and I definitely will not be returning to this studio. I have never left a yelp review in my life and I really do not enjoy taking the time out of my day to write this about someone's small business, but I also think that other girls deserve to know my experience so that they aren't disappointed or even worse, left feeling uncomfortable during a service that is already a somewhat vulnerable situation in general.

The pain was minimal and manageable, thanks to Kay's expertise and technique. I really appreciated how flexible Kay was with scheduling as long as you communicate with her, she's very accommodating. The email and text reminders before my appointment were also super helpful and made the process feel smooth and organized. Sending a quick text before arrival is another thoughtful touch that really works well. It ensures Kay knows you're there and helps both of you stay on schedule without wasting time. She also provided water and snacks, which added a welcoming and thoughtful touch. The vibe of the studio was calm and relaxing. I'm usually drawn to pink, but the purple décor was so soothing and made me feel at ease. I would absolutely recommend Kay to my friends and family. Arrived after a stressful week of work to a super clean and calming lobby living room full of beautiful plants and relaxing scents. While I waited for my session to begin, Uncle Nat's nephew Lavonn made me a soothing dairy free turmeric chai latte. Loving these laser sessions with Uncle Nat using YAG. Every time I get my lip and chin done it's a facial laser. I leave with my skin glowing. The YAG has significantly helped discoloration on my melanated skin.
