I came in as a walk-in and the staff initially seemed pleasant. However, when I mentioned that I wanted a regular polish manicure instead of gel, the demeanor changed noticeably. The technician pointed to the polish wall, which was about 15 feet away, and asked me to choose a color from there. I asked if they had a sample book or display to make it easier to choose, and she handed me a gel polish sample set instead. I selected a color from that set, but when she went to the wall and came back, she brought two completely different colors. When I explained that those weren't the colors I had chosen, my concern was ignored. Another employee spoke to her about it, and there seemed to be some tension between them. The coworker then told me those were the only regular polish colors available, which would have been completely fine if that had simply been explained from the beginning instead of applying a different color without clarification. Additionally, moisturizer was not applied at the end of the manicure, which is usually a standard part of the basic process. When it was time for my feet to dry, I was not notified about their status and another staff member had to come over and double-check. My polish was still wet, and the service overall did not feel very efficient. When the coworker mentioned something to her about it, she appeared frustrated or upset. I'm not completely certain due to the language barrier, but based on body language it seemed that way. No apology was given. Overall, the experience felt rushed and poorly communicated. Clear communication about available polish options and better attention to the finishing steps of the service would have made the visit much smoother. read more

I popped over to Luxe after Honey across the street told me they were full for the day. I figured for a regular gel it should be fine to try a new place. Wrong. The tech didn't use cuticle softener and ended up cutting my cuticles do roughly I bled. Not a huge deal, until I had to ask her to clean the blood out from under my nail before she started painting. She also had long nails herself that she dug into my hand as she maneuvered my nails around. In the end, this was the worst gel I've had in a long time. Manicures should be relaxing but this was stressful. She didn't paint all the way down the nail to the point that it almost looks like a reverse French. This place was only 5 dollars cheaper than Honey across the street but the quality was 1/4 as good. Never again. read more

Went to this place two weeks ago for a gel manicure and I wasn't thrilled with the service or outcome. It was clean, but it felt like the manicurist was not paying close attention or being meticulous about the manicure. I ended up with a couple of nails thick like on the sides so they looked sort of oddly shaped, polish a little streaky (I did choose a very light pink that can be hard to work with, but I've had great manis with that color before), and some color on my skin, which meant it started lifting by the cuticles only a week after the mani. I would possibly be willing to try again, but there are so many nail salons around that I'll go somewhere else first. read more

My first pedi since the pandemic started and omg it was so nice to get it done again! Clean spot with the staff wearing masks and they have the plexiglass partitions for manicures (but not pedicures). Since it was my first in a longggg time, I opted for the $55 deluxe pedi with most of the works, and it was relaxing and just such a treat again. The staff was super sweet and friendly. Y'all don't need to see a picture of my feet, so believe me when I say that you should come here for your next nail appointment. To spare you all the details, this was my first pedicure since before COVID, so Angela put in some WORK. I also couldn't decide between two colors and she was very patient with me in deciding. Something I also appreciate is that it didn't feel rushed. Angela took her time, and the other technicians working on other customers didn't seem rushed and allowed the customers to stay and dry for as long as they wanted. Cleanliness wise -- There are plenty of chairs and I was seated three chairs away from the closest customer. Inside the baths they use plastic bag-like things so your feet don't sit in the same bath as others. Each technician is wearing gloves and a masks and this place is truly spotless. There's nothing more disappointing that feeling like you're inconveniencing the person you are paying to do a service. It actually makes me so sad because I was excited to get some me time. I was early to my mani-pedi appointment and was told to sit at a spa chair. The tech assigned to me seemed to be in a rush which is fine, considering. but it turned into a complete dismissal of the basic service of a pedicure. I'll list my grievances below in the hopes that they take a little more consideration of how their customers feel in their establishment. 1. I was made to keep my feet in water while the tech finished another customer- there was no spa solution added to the water 2. I was understanding of her needing to finish a client, so I waited. Once she got back to me, I asked for the now luke warm water to be warmer, as well as if she could add the blue powder. I didn't think this was too much to ask since I had waited & up until that moment. my feet looked like they were sitting in old bath water. Nonetheless, I asked for those 2 things. she became disgruntled and said "the water is not cold" She ended up emptying the bowl and added the warm water, which I appreciated. Just wasted two hours of my life at this salon for a horrible mani/pedi. I got black polish and they didn't once suggest another color, despite it being a hard color to paint nails. So we went ahead with black and glitter... they checked my nails 3 times before I left to confirm they were dry. When I arrive home an hour later, I wipe the polish right from my nail with zero effort. Biggest waste of money and time ever, I'm furious. I went here for a last minute gel manicure before vacation. I called the morning of and there was a 6PM appt available. As soon as I arrived the nail technician was ready. There was a wide selection of colors, organic polish does cost an extra $1. My nail technician was very quick, and the whole process took less than 45 minutes. My nails looked great! My one complaint is the polish was a little to far from the cuticle, and the polish starting chipping within 9 days because of this. The polish looked great and I received a ton of compliments on my nails; however, for the amount I paid I would expect the polish to last at least 2 weeks. read more

Sadly I felt the need to post this. I have gone to this location for many months now, and there's been a significant uptick in cuts on my fingers recently. Over the last few months I have had my skin cut to the point or bleeding 6 times. At first I wrote it off as an accident, but at this point it's really bad. Twice now the cuts have been so bad I have had to go to urgent care for antibiotic creams. Thankfully the metal tools there are sterilized but the nail files are being reused. The final nail product there is always solid, but the cuts are not worth it. I highly encourage people to consider this from a blood borne pathogen standpoint. I have never had so many finger cuts, so I hope this isn't also happening to others. Yesterday the tech doing my nails continue to try to file into the existing cut multiple times. This is just really inexcusable. read more

I went the other day to get a fill in and was told just that; I decided to have all the tips soaked off and got a regular manicure with gel polish. I don't mind tipping, but when the service isn't great (one technician was very heavy handed even though I told her that I could feel the heat of the electric filer through my nail!) I recently moved from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, New York. I thought it was going to take me ages to find a nail tech that knew what they were doing, as I had become particular with having gone to the same person for years. I am so lucky to have found Angela at Luxe Nails & Spa. This was my first attempt at getting my nails done in New York too, so I really hit the lottery with her. She listened to my instructions carefully and then delivered perfectly. It's not easy to find someone who can apply gel builder the way that she did. She spent her time and made everything look uniform and clean. She is truly a perfectionist and I will be continuing to go back to her time and time again. I'd also like to mention that they took me in even though I called last minute on a Sunday. Lastly, this business is so clean. You can tell a lot about an establishment by how clean the bathroom is, and I feel like I could've licked the floor at this place. Of course, they are a little more pricey, but absolutely worth every penny. read more

I went here for a mani pedi at the beginning of october. When I went, I had clear polygel on my nails. As my pedicure was done, a nail tech came over to start removing my polygel, first trying with a metro card until i expressed discomfort. Another nail tech came over, started shaking her head, and went to work with an electric nail file. I expressed my concern because my nails were clear, so asked them to be very careful. They were not--in fact they were laughing as I was wincing telling them I was nervous that they were filing too much down and pulling my hand away. This was the result. I was so uncomfortable I didn't complete the manicure and still didn't know how far the extent of the damage was, but I could see that my nail around my cuticle looked gauged out and uneven. They are a solid nail salon. I've been a couple of times now, and the mani and pedi are fine with detail and precision. They have a great choice of colors and brands. Where to start...I was really excited to give this place a chance when I first saw it getting ready to open. It's clean and well lit, and they offer coffee/tea to clients, but that's about where the nice part ends. My friend and I came in to have our nails done, and were informed that only one person on staff (on a Saturday afternoon no less) was able to do an acrylic set. My friend told them multiple times that she had acrylic tips with a gel overlay, and it wasn't until they had already begun the soak off process that they informed her that it would be an additional $20. That aside, when they started to apply and shape our nails I asked for coffin shaped nails, and as you can see by the photos, I have about 3 different nail shapes going on. My friend asked for almond shape, and had to ask them 3 times to reshape her nails (even after showing them photos and having come in with the nail shape she desired) they still didn't get the shape correct and even told her that the reason her nail looked messed up was because of her finger. Every time there was an issue or somewhat of a complaint, staff was quick to push it off onto something else like finger shape or how other salons in the area do the same thing, no personal responsibility or accountability was taken (and I've noticed the same attitude in the reviews here as well..) Last but not least, it took almost 4 hours from start to finish. 4 hours for just two nail sets, which didn't even turn out nice...not to mention the $200+ spent between the two of us, and I can't even tell you why it cost that much..(OH AND they don't offer refunds) Long story short, I was so unhappy and somewhat embarrassed by how my nails looked (the pictures can speak for themselves..) that I took it upon myself to take them off. read more

I have had nothing but good experiences here. I get dip powder manicures and the whole process (including removing old powder) takes 1.5-2 hours. All the employees are very nice, professional, and helpful. My manicures last at least 3 weeks. I have even gone 4, though my nails do grow out a bit. It is easy to get an appointment--I usually call and can come in the same day. The place is spotless and they have lots of color options. read more
