had an absolutely horrible experience at this salon. I booked an appointment for a spa pedicure and requested a manicure polish upon arrival. To my shock, the technicians lacked basic skills and couldn't even do an ombré design, which was extremely surprising. Despite this, I proceeded with my services. I had a slightly chipped toenail, and the technician assured me she could fix it. However, midway through the pedicure, she suddenly claimed she couldn't do it and asked her coworker for help. Her coworker refused, saying she didn't have time. Then, the technician turned around and accused me of never asking for the repair in the first place--even though we had an entire conversation about it! She was incredibly rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. With no manager on duty to address the situation, I decided to leave. That's when she tried to charge me $35--just for soaking my foot in water and removing the callus from one foot! This place is a complete scam. They wasted my time, cost me money, and made me miss an important event. The staff is inexperienced, unprofessional, rude, and terrible at communication. Save yourself the frustration--you're better off doing your own nails! I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

It has to be said, so please excuse me, if my follow up review is a bit long wended. On my last 3 visits, it's been obvious that Discrimination is the culture of this salon, the owners holding the reigns. Always asking where you're from, do you live in the neighborhood, etc etc. The prices seem to change depending on skin tone, zip code and so on. As I have done once before I usually receive SpaFinder Gift Cards and use them at Flora, whom participate. However, when it comes time to pay, there always seems to be an issue, such as, not receiving any of the spa discounts. When using the SpaFinder Card you are not entitled to the 10% discount, is that just applied to me, I don't know. So opposed to arguing, I have let it go, twice. They took the whole $100, which my service added up to $58 or so bucks, so now I have to come back here because they will only issue me a store credit. I gave my mom the credit and here is where, once again, my mom was treated with the utmost disrespect. In the past they have made her wait, or taken a tech in the mist of service and given that person to a white person, or have taken a walk-in with NO appt and put them ahead of her. Why she came back, probably my fault, but I had this credit and I said go get a mani pedi. Today they did it again. She called ahead, made an appt, the person on the phone quoted $42 plus 10% discount. My mom told them about the store credit, all seemed well enough, until she arrived. The prices changed. My mom tells the owner about the credit, she said no we don't give credit on spa club, meanwhile the OWNER wrote the credit on the store receipt. The service again POOR, the tech was removed and replaced with someone else, she was given the quickest foot scrub (count 1,2,3 - done) and sadly, my mom was was rushed to the mani table while the white women who came before at the pedi bowls were still getting their scrubs. It's a clean establishment, I'll give them that. The lady at the front desk is not inviting at all. Very dry, blah. They charge extra for regular polish, not gel! Regular polish. Why would I pay an additional $5 for Zoya nail polish. You have to be joking right?! I felt comfortable during my wax session but my pedicure took legit 10 maybe 13 minutes the most. Walked in a little before close when I was turned away by a spot nearby an hour before closing. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The massages are great and reasonably priced and they do it at the same time as your mani. My nail tech was detail oriented and took her time and my gel manicure looks great. Wish the color options were a bit broader but the colors they do have are nice. It's not the most up to date or pretty inside but they do a good job for what you're paying for. I came to Flora Nails due to the convenience of their location. On two occasions I have made appointments here: once for nails and the other for eyelash tinting-- For Appt#1, I called to see if they did silk dipping powder fill ins for the set I already had. I was on the phone with them for a good 15 minutes to make sure they knew what I was talking about since many Brooklyn/NYC nail salons don't provide it. They kept assuring me they knew what I meant while repeating the service back to me-- so, I was pretty confident they were capable of doing so. They call me the day of the appt to confirm. (Ok! Great!) I arrive 10 minutes early. They say 'I never contacted them, not in their appointment book, and that someone else was booked for my time--who they were working on already.' (Odd, because I came 10 minutes EARLY. How are you well into a client's full set if she was booked for my time?) I explained that they called me to confirm&showed them the call from my phone, so I MUST have been in the appointment book bc they had my #. It took not one, but THREE employees, to look through two pages in a notebook for 15 minutes. And.... ~*Omg, They find it!!!!!!*~ Go figure. They apologize and ask if I'm willing to wait for the only lady in the salon who can do the service, as well as offer a low costing complimentary service while I wait....OK!! Whatever!!! I did not want to argue because I was pressed for time&seriously needed a last minute fill-in --plus, free eyebrow threading? Not a bad deal! They made me wait 1 HOUR and 20 MIN from my arrival because they took ANOTHER walk-in before me... WHILE I WAS GETTING THREADED. !!!!GET THIS!!!!!...when the time comes, they have the audacity to tell me: "We don't provide the service you made an appointment for" ............................***WHAT!!!??? The...... F$@&K!!!!!**** It's now around 8:10PM& I start to have a mental breakdown since they close at 8:30. "Oh, but we can do gel dipping powder instead!!" ........OK FINE, nails were lifted so bad IDC what they did at that point. Its 9:30PM and I go to pay. They ~*TRY*~ to make me pay extra for staying open past their closing time-- AND for the *COMPLIMENTARY* eyebrow threading?!? "Umm, NO. I am about to walk out, and give you nothing." The guy goes "ok ok. I charge you $50, whole thing." Ummm, YEAH, that's the price I AGREED to. (although, absolutely ridiculous for a fill-in) I pay&tip. Man asks: "How much are u tipping for eyebrow?" Ummm..nothing bc it was supposed to be FREE?!? Whatever, I tip her $2 and leave. So... yet again I'm pressed for time, gave them benefit of the doubt, &booked appt #2 to re-tint my eyelashes from another spa. Day of apt comes, they call &say "Tint lady called out. Can you come Tmw at 6:45 instead of 7?" Sure. I arrive, early upon request, and once again, they can't find my apt. Made me wait til 7:30. Lady sets me up in a room that was clearly messy. She tidies up and starts the service. I can tell 100% she was not trained properly or licensed. Luckily I know a few things about tinting so I took it upon myself to see which products she was using-- considering she had no idea what the tint was made up of. The products they use for tints are pretty good quality and my lashes look darker than other places that provide the service. TO SUM IT ALL UP: Threading&tinting was good, but the quality of the nails were terrible and did not hold up. (Did not last even close to two weeks). I WOULD technically give them 1.5 stars (for lashes&brows) but NO WAY do they deserve two....so....one star, it is. I will NOT be returning, even out of desperation. read more

Racist. I've seen the comment about Flora Nails being racially bias, but I wanted to believe differently. However, it was definitely the case for me as well. I was told to come to my appointment 30mins early, which I did. The man who works at the salon looked at me up and down and decided to service three people instead of me. The group insisted that I was there first and that I had an appointment. I patiently waited as different techs were assigned to the group that should have been seen after me. I politely spoke up asking "when will I be seen" considering I had an appointment. The other group also said "yes she has an appointment" and apologized to me. The salons staff clearly judged me and assumed that they should see the group first based on race. Maybe they assumed I'd be a "bad tipper" due to the stigma of the color of my skin. It's sad. They're sad. Their loss. I pray that one day they will view the world and humans of all ethnic makeups equally. It's funny how marginalized groups treat other marginalized groups... And on top of that disheartening experience, they sat me at a dirty pedicure bowl... so I left. Found another place and their work was great and per usual I tipped well since they're judging based on stereotypes. read more

Came here for a pedi and mani. I'd say in general it's good, but the girl who was doing my nails basically had a 360-turn on her attitude when I only had $10 in cash to tip her. First of all, their mani and pedi combo was close to $40, even though the sign outside says 20% off, they didn't give to me. Compare that to anywhere in Manhattan from $25 to $35, that's already overpriced. Secondly, $10 tip was an over 20% tip, and she was making sure I saw her facial expression and body language changed from sunny to thunderstorming within 5 seconds after I gave the tip. As a result, I think she did a very poor job applying polish on my nails that I can see small bubbles under the polish. For those who'd been getting manicures forever, small bubbles means the polish was too thick and/or nails were not clean. Apparently she's too disgruntled about her $10 tip that she decided to do a poor job on applying the nail polish. Are you kidding me?? I definitely won't be back. read more

This is the second time I've gotten my eyebrows waxed here. The first time I thought I just had a fluke experience. I had a scab under my eyebrow because the technician put wax too low on my eyelid, ripping off the skin. Went back a couple months later (such a convenient location for me) and the same thing happened. You even get a mini complementary back massage... not like the 30 second version while you sit down at the dryer, but they time it so it's while you're getting your manicure. I booked a slew of treatments here for my wedding because the location is very convenient for me. Although the facial was excellent, the torture of the manicure situation and aggressive sales techniques of the manager made this place impossible to return to. I did spend extra time drying my spray tan (it was for my wedding so I didn't want to take any chances) and the manager kept sticking her head in the room while I was naked to rush me out, even though she didn't have anyone waiting for it! She then tried to charge me an extra $10. She kept pushing me to buy more items even when I told her no and had already spent almost $300. When I came to get my nails done they claimed to know how to do silk wraps, but didn't have a dremel! Anyone who knows, knows you must have one to offer this service. They tried to tell me it wasn't needed. The guy spent 20 mins filing the powder on one finger, but it was so thick I had to go elsewhere and have them do the other 9 nails the day before my wedding. They later claimed he had just forgotten the tools! Why would you even attempt a process without the right tools?! Annoying, but not unforgivable. However, when I returned from my honeymoon I wanted to get my tips removed before going back to work. I didn't have time so I decided to give them one more shot. The manager helped me and mutilated my nails for an hour. Either her acetone was watered down or cheap, because she filed until my nail bed was red and still didn't remove them. She kicked me out with them half removed and my fingers in excruciating pain because it was "taking too long". What?? I uploaded a photo of the horror show that is my nails. She tried to blame it on the other salon, but they hadn't done anything out of the ordinary when putting them on. I have had tips and wraps many, many times and had them removed just as many, and I'd never experienced something like this. I will never set foot in there again. read more

I don't know why Flora Nails doesn't have a higher rating. I went there for the first time today as a walk-in and was sat immediately. They were consistently busy the whole time I was there. Their entire staff was super nice, polite and accommodating. They give a short, complimentary shoulder massage during services (so relaxing!) and the music was light and soothing. It was a really nice treat after a long day of work. Changa was my nail tech and she was AMAZING! I am really picky when it comes to my nails and I don't think anyone has ever paid more attention than her. She did a fantastic and extremely thorough job and my nails look so beautiful. $35 for gel mani. Next time, I'm getting SNS which is $45. Flora is the bomb and I'm very happy with their services, prices, staff and salon. It's very clean and they have a huge variety of gel colors. Two thumbs up read more

The space is small and quiet. I was given a warm welcome when I walked in. Service was good until I paid - it became noticeably different. I paid $12 for a service and added $2 tip. After this, the nail aesthetician was quiet and disengaging, rushed through the service, and didn't even give me the standard light massage at the nail dryer. She performed the task so quickly that I noticed afterwards that she didn't give full/proper coats on my nails. It felt very awkward and tense during the service and I won't be returning. read more

This place like all places in and around dumbo/Brooklyn heights are hit or miss. Sometimes the staff is really friendly. Sometimes they are a bit rude. Some of the staff are more meticulous than others. It's clean and very much has a neighborhood feel which is nice. But overall I've never gotten what the quality for the money. read more

I got a regular pedicure here and the woman did not cut my cuticles of nails properly AT ALL and I got the worst ingrown nail of my life, which then got infected and swelled up so bad that I had to go to urgent care and start antibiotics for. DO NOT be fooled by the inexpensive prices here, this salon is not worth the sloppy service and health risk. Still overpriced for the amount of pain and discomfort they gave me. read more

Got a pedicure here on a whim. It was ok, definitely no frills service unless you opt in to one of the many upgrades they try to sell you. They did a fine job though, and color has lasted for a few weeks now. Also had a bit of an issue with getting the discount listed for checking in on Yelp, had to argue a bit to get it even though I plainly showed her on my phone; seems like their staff needs better training in the discounts they are offering. read more

They have good customer service but honestly it's really hard to find places where the attention to detail is acceptable and where the nail technicians know how to properly apply polish. I've had good experiences here and bad experiences here. You might be okay with darker colors but with those light sheer colors, good luck. I was walking around trying to find someone who knew how to remove hard gel nails. They aren't soak offs so it had to be filed off. I stated this multiple times. I was told that it was fine and demanded to pay $12 when it was complete. Expensive but convenient so I sat down. The nail tech started using a hand file to remove the top layer of soft gel. I was confused but didn't say anything. Then I see a soaking dish full of acetone. I once again mentioned that they cannot he soaked off. Then I was told the nail tech who had the drill bit was not in on Monday's. Cool, I'll leave. No, they wanted me to stay while another girl came out of nowhere and started looking for another drill bit. She found one and obviously didn't know what she was doing. Tearing up the pad of my fingers in the process. Then after trying for 5 minutes, she decided to loosen the already loose nails with a metrocard. I was looking sideways wondering if she was going to do what I thought she was and I exclaimed "No! If I wanted to damage my nail bed I could've did that at home and for free." It took her 1.5 hours to file off the gel and it was still gel residue on my nails plus she also filed down my nail bed. My nails burned every single time I washed them with warm water. I went to the front where I was told to hang on while the guy who told me $12 gathers the price. I stated it's $12 and he was like yeah it took a long time. A nail removal is a nail removal and the price is the price. I said, nail removals take 10 minutes MAX. Not my problem. He was online looking at a price list of what to charge for nail removals. If you don't beat it. I gave him the money and gave her a couple dollars for her struggle and pushed off. Side note, I don't know if every nail tech has proper education which probably means some aren't licensed legally. I say that because I believe I saw them teaching a nail tech how to do manicures. The guy originally was getting his nails done and I assumed it was slow and he just wanted a manicure. She proceeded to do two additional workers nails and some clients daughter came in so she did her manicure too. read more

My manicure was fine, but we tried to use the 20% off check-in discount and my manicure ended up costing a lot more Than I was quoted on the phone, They said a gel Mani was $35, and I ended up spending $34 with the 20% off coupon, then they charge a 5% fee for using a credit card, and they kept pushing us to give a 20% tip.
