Our family tried almost everything on the menu and there isn't one item that we don't like. If I have to say someone bad, don't get the snack tray if you can't control yourself! I have been wanting to try this bakery for a while and I finally got to pop in for breakfast and took home some treats for later. I got a beef, chicken, and cheese piroshky that I ate there. The filling was very good - but I was not crazy about the texture of the dough. It may have been microwaved - that may may have been the issue. I took home one of the little peach pastries and a slice of nutella cake. The peach pastry was so pretty - and tasted ok (odd though that the filling is not peach). But the nutella cake did not taste fresh - it was quite dry. It tasted like it had been in the refrigerated case for a few days. This place must be a hit or miss because I'm seeing alot of very good reviews and some horrible reviews. I've had this spot bookmarked for months and the first time coming, I didnt like anything I got. It's such a disappointment because I love Russian/Ukrainian Cafes. Sure, the items are huge and reasonably priced but the piroshkys taste old and smell weird. The macarons were alright, too thick. Staff didnt even greet us coming in nor leaving. After spending some time looking for a quick and easy place to get some coffee, we decided to stop by this place as it looked good based off Yelp. While we were specifically looking for coffee, we noticed the pastries looked quite tasty, and I ended up getting one of their peach pastries. Overall, it was very good. The texture was interesting, and could be described as a short bread type of cookie, with a lighter and airier filling on the inside. It also included dried peaches on the inside and a nice sugar coating. Not to mention that visually, it was very appealing. In terms of coffee, it was pretty decent. Not the biggest selection, but it has all you really need. Lattes, mochas, macchiatos, and more. Would definitely come back for more pastries, as there were really good looking ones. The staff was very friendly and quick. Covid precautions were well-taken. The little cafe was also very nice looking and well decorated. My family and I went there sometime last week and we were not happy. I got the nutella cake, hubby got the cheese danish and my daughter got the fruit jelly and my son got the chicken, bacon and mushroom piroshky. Cake was hard and dry and so was the danish. I think they were old and been sitting there awhile. My daughter didnt like her fruit jelly either. She took a bite of it and said it tasted weird and didn't want to eat it anymore. I tasted it and it was bad. The only decent one (not great but edible) was the chicken, bacon,mushroom piroshky We had to toss the rest in the trash. We spent $18 for all. Hidden gem is a perfect description for this bakery. Been to Piroshky Piroshky a few times in Seattle and never got anything due to long lines. Now I found a good local spot with a delicious variety of them. Their giant macarons, mini sweet piroshky, and chicken/beef/cheese Piroshky were awesome. Also had a "nut" and the filling on that was great. Oh and the baklava... Wow! Best I've ever had! Not as much variety, but quality over quantity holds true here. I'm not from Russia, but I am from Bulgaria and living so far away from the homeland definitely makes you miss a lot of deserts and foods. This bakery is amazing!!! Their cakes are so delicious and have that exact Eastern European flavor I grew up eating as a child. Light, airy, decadent and tasty. But they don't just make delicious cakes! They also have absolutely amazing little deserts, my favorite so far are the potatoe log ( it's not a potatoe at all but a rich nutty melt in your mouth chocolate spongy cake ) also I love their little walnut cookies, my absolutely favorite and brought me back to my childhood. They also have delicious savory food and as you can tell by my excitement, this place is a must to visit if you have a sweet tooth for something authentically Eastern European!!!! Don't stop until you find this place! It's a bit out-of-the-way, but keeping looking, it's in the middle of that cluster of buildings. If you're tired of over-sweet American desserts designed for kids, try one of their huge slices of grown-up cake. The coffee is always perfect. One complaint: pop radio is annoying. (It's also illegal and I wouldn't want you to get stung.) There's so much I don't like about Starbucks, but they generally understand adult taste in music. read more

The cakes are delicious, the savory food has a northwest-inspired twist to it (like the salmon piroshky) but my favorite dessert by far is the meringue -- it's the perfect combination of sweet and crunchy with a swirl of a little something extra topped with fresh berries. I love macarons. Like more than a normal person should. I can never pick just a few flavors so I end up getting one of each. ALL THE TIME. Katya's has macarons. They are big. Bigger than your standard french almondy meringue cookie and they even have giant ones, too. My husband, for as long as I've known him and as long as I've been eating french macarons, does not care for them. Well .. Did not care for them, at this point. Usually I can get away with giving him a bite and he'll eventually tell me no more. Not with the macarons from Katya's. He insisted I give him half of each one. Right? Ugh .. I've definitely created a monster, I semi regret. hahaha But really .. these are just delightful and full of flavor. They aren't the prettiest macarons I've ever seen but gosh darnit they are damn tasty. Good thing the monster enjoys them because my husband works in Everett. My fiancé has been to Katya's Bakery several times since it opened, and I finally got to try it today. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere was warm and quiet. It appears to be a family run business and everyone was very welcoming. If you (like me) are not familiar with Russian food, do not be afraid to ask what something is. They had no problem explaining various dishes to us. We shared a mango flavored macaroon and I got the stump cake, which was like a vanilla roll cake with icing shaped like mushrooms and leaves...it looked like a fairy tale tree stump! The macaroon was big and tasted great. The cookie was light and crumble-y while the center was chewy and sweet. The roll cake was almost too cute to eat, but when I did it was like a moist sponge cake texture with a marscapone center. The icing gave a sweet addition to the cake, which was not overly sweet. My fiancée always gets the honey cake, which comes in a very generous slice and it is quite tasty as well. If sweets are not your thing, they also have savory foods, like a Stromboli with salmon and cream cheese that I am definitely trying next time! read more

The food is traditional and natural. It's free if cream from powder mixes for instance. Real cream is used. The cakes and the slices are bountiful and delicious. The cook is Russian with broken English, and speaks to her daughter in Russian. I love this. :) The coffee was good, not a lot of choices, but this isn't Starbucks. It was served in fine China though and I really appreciated that a lot. This is quite an experience and I'm going to be back many times. read more

Terrible service with a side of burnt coffee. Was heading up north on a road trip & decided to stop by for some quick coffee. Came in here with my girlfriend; we each ordered a latte, small pastry, & salmon piroshki to-go. Simple right? The young girl behind the counter started making my beverage, then paused when other people would approach the counter for their orders. Instead of finishing my coffee before assisting other customers with their pastry needs, she just let my milk overheat well past boiling & my espresso shots burn. She didn't even start on my friend's drink until we had to remind her (after 15-20 minutes) that we still needed the other latte. The pastries were cute but the taste was nothing to write home about. I think people just get really hyped up that this is a European bakery (that's what pulled us in), but there are honestly better places elsewhere with people who know what they're doing when it comes to quick & good service. This place is amazing. I appreciate the amount of seating available. There are so many dessert options and some savory options as well from soup to cabbage rolls. The cakes seem to be a hit. At least ten people have come in since we have been eating and drinking coffee to buy their cakes. I see why. The chocolate layered cake is perfection. Rich and creamy and what dreams are made of. I LOVE THIS PLACE! They make amazing amazing desserts, piroshky and fantastic East European soup Borsch and VERY GOOD PRICE! I was working up in Everett one day and had to bring some desserts over to a friend's house so I looked up on yelp and this place came up. And oh my god am I glad I found this place! They have amazing varieties of desserts, I took photos with price tag for you all if you want to check out my photos. I got some macaroons, honey cake, Leningraskiy cake (sort of like a cookie stacked cake) and of course, little peaches. They are all so delicious! First of all, they're not overly sweet, all just right. Macaroons are airy with light flavored sweet cream in the middle. You can tell they are really fresh because how light the shells are when you bite into it. Honey cake is delightful if you like honey, honey drizzled in between each layer, cake is not too dense and very moist. Leningraskiy is a very interesting cake. It is more cookie/graham cracker textured layers with plum filling which is equally delicious. After picking out the desserts, I chose some savory pastry and soup to be my lunch. The piroshky is great, the dough is amazing and filling is seasoned just right. I chose beef chicken and cheese which was amazing, my only wish is if they could put more cheese in it. Borsch, an East European soup is on point! Hearty soup with beets, cabbage, chicken, potato in it with a huge dollop of sour cream. It is a perfect perfect perfect fix for a cold winter day. Their coffee is great too! If you are reading this review and thinking whether you should try this place, DO IT! Great quality European pastries at a low price. You have nothing to lose! I haven't had a piroshki in a long time...too long, and something made me think about them yesterday, so I went to Yelp and took a look to see where I should go. Katya's sounded like the best, for price and taste. I had the fried meat and fried potato piroshki yesterday, plus some excellent baklava. Both piroshki and the dessert were so good that I went back today! Today I had the baked chicken, beef & cheese piroshki and a slice of Napoleon cake. The piroshki was once again yummy and the cake looks terrific, but I haven't tried it yet. I was going to go to Piroshki, Piroshki until I looked at the prices...twice as much as Katya's, ouch. read more
