The bakery is a small place, few selections but it seems that they sell most of their inventory pretty regularly (I went towards the end of the day). Do not order from here if you expect reliable or professional service. I ordered and prepaid for a birthday cake from this bakery in advance. When I arrived on Wednesday during their posted business hours (9 AM), the bakery was unexpectedly closed with a sign saying "Sorry, we have sold out, we are closed!" Their voicemail and website then stated they would also be closed for the next two days. What's most disappointing is that I received absolutely no phone call or notice that my prepaid order would not be fulfilled. For a business handling special occasion orders, failing to contact customers about canceled or unfulfilled orders is extremely unprofessional. Since I was in the area I decided to check this place out as it looks delicious. It is located in a small complex and I think the entrance is a little confusing. It's a small door and you probably Miss it because you are distracted from looking at their kitchen and try to open the employee only door instead :) They have 2 displays, one with cakes and desserts and the other are various croissants. I got the chocolate croissant and a snow white cake. Both were pretty good. I do wish the croissant was flakier though. Pricing was decent as well. I needed fresh croissants and didn't have time to travel south to Seattle, thanks to Yelp I located L'Artisan Pastry a hidden little gem tucked away in Silver Lake. Customer service was excellent, everyone behind the counter were all very kind. The shop was extremely clean, and quiet. Our croissants were fresh, flaky, and delicate (perfect.) We came for a small dessert and a cake for my dad's birthday. We were wavering between an almond pear tart & the Brazilian mocha cake. When the cashier shared what was in the cake, we were sold! I am giving a bad review on a single encounter I had on Saturday August 17, 2024. For context let me say that I am a pretty regular customer. Every 2 weeks my son and I get a haircut at the nearby barbershop. As a reward for my son's good behavior and patience we walk over to the bakery for a pastry. We did so last Saturday. When we entered the bakery, I noted a sign saying you needed a code or key to use the restroom. I also noted an elderly couple enjoying some pastries at one of the tables and a younger couple also enjoying pastries at a nearby table. On this day my son was taking some time choosing his pastry. A patron who came into the shop after us formed in line ahead of us and was ready to make his purchase. The elderly man mentioned before also formed in line ahead of us. A male employee (tall with curly brown hair) attended to the first man in line. He was very nice and tried to attend to my son and I but we were not ready. There was also a female employee (tall with shoulder length blonde hair) working the front counter as well. As a reminder there were two people in front of me and my son. A man being attended to by the nice curly haired fellow, and the elderly gentleman who was earlier enjoying a pastry. The elderly gentleman asked to access the restroom. The female employee asked him to step aside so she could fulfill my order. Upon hearing that, and wanting to be a good example to my young son, I told her "no please help him, he was in line ahead of us". The female employee said "no he can wait, he is not a paying customer". I was appalled and insisted she served the man's needs. And she did but was very rude and short with me once I made my order. My son received his eclair, and I even gave a 10% tip because that was the lowest option. My son likely was too young to understand the utter disrespect and lack of customer service we witnessed (he was getting an eclair after all) , but we talked about how badly the female treated both the elderly gentleman and us, and how if I were the manager or owner I would fire her on the spot..... So to L'Artisan Pastry, you have lost me as a regular customer, I can find friendlier pastries at Town & Country. I hope you lost the elderly gentleman as a customer, and I hope you see that while in that moment he wasn't laying down dollars to use the bathroom, probably 20 minutes earlier he did for the piece of cake he was eating when I arrived. I hope you lost a customer in the guy at the head of the line as he witnessed the situation. I hope you fire the female who was rude to two customers and a horrible representation of your business. Finally I hope on your electronic payment system you include a 0% tip option. I walked away from your business sick that I bought something from you (I did not want to disappoint my son on our tradition). Sick that your payment system forced me to tip your employees disgusting behavior, and sure that I will not be spending another cent in your business. Soooooo.. I went here last went and my mother in-law and wife got the apple croissant and some berry mousse and I was like damn I needa go here. So I went yesterday and tbh kinda underwhelming. Walked in no one greeted me I actually had to say good morning to everyone and there were about 4 people there. The bakery was very plain looking almost like just four walls and there's a bakery in there. I got the apple croissant and the raisin croissant I also got the fruit tart and chocolate pear. The apple croissant a was flaky and had good taste of apple but not overly sweet. The rain croissant was the same but had a cream filling it seems like pretty solid. The fruit was pretty decent. The base was most pie crust delicious tart not too sweet the fruit I personally believe that it was stacked too high. The chocolate pear I'm not the biggest fan of chop it was probably the best thing I ate and honestly they should just get rid of the pear didn't add and flavor or substance. A brownie like pie I would say it was a thick boy. Very sweet. The reason I say it underwhelming is because although the food was good, it wasn't as good as I had the week before. It was really great! The people working there were very nice and friendly. They all greeted me and said goodbye. It was a pleasant experience. I bought the brioche and it was really good. I thought maybe it was a little expensive ($8.50). I don't buy bread from bakeries a lot so maybe it was a typical price. Good sized parking lot with lots of spots available on a weekday afternoon. The only thing was that I was confused about where I was supposed to exit. There is a back door that says exit but then you'd have to walk around the building to get back to your car. Best crossaint I've had in my life. Someday I may get back to France, but until then the viennoserie here will happily fill that pastry-shaped hole in my heart. So far I've sampled their Napoleon, eclair, lemon meringue tart, and crossaint. Everything was simply outstanding. I've loved Napoleons since I was a little boy, and the flaky crispy dough, sweet creamy filling and that little pop of extra sweetness from the icing on this version was Michelin-level perfection. It's a big slice, too, for the price; could easily serve two. Or one greedy little boy.... The eclair dough was also a perfect example of this standard - I'm not usually a fan of the chocolate-filled eclair, but the intense dark chocolate flavor of this filling could almost convince me otherwise. The lemon curd and pastry on the tart, along with the little meringue on top, had that zing of tart lemon, and pastry crunch, and we managed to split one tart between three of us, it was that generous. Finally, that crossaint: crispy, flaky exterior; soft, buttery, gorgeous even open crumb interior; it's hard to imagine anything better. Which would involve trans-Atlantic travel, probably, so in the meantime I'll just come here. So should you! read more

I called your bakery 2 days before my mothers 80th birthday but I called at 1240 instead of 12pm....you could have made the cake for two days later had I called 40 minutes earlier otherwise....nope! Beautiful gem of a place, it's small, clean, quiet and overlooks a little pond. Seriously the place is spotless and the case if filled with delicious colorful pastries. We tried the cream puff, chocolate eclair, Brazilian mocha and pear almond tart. I'm not a fruit lover per say but that almond tart crust was spot on! Also the mocha was creamy and decadent (might do with a thicker layer of cake) but you cannot deny the mochaness of it all. Firstly, they were amazing to squeeze in a last minute birthday cake request and that's how I came upon this bakery. Ordered their Chocolate ganache cake for a birthday party with 3 days to spare. I always like to brace myself when it comes to new environments. I def had my guard up walking into this establishment due to reviews saying they are extremely cold and rude. I got nothing but the sweetest greeting from most of the staff. I honestly can't remember what the inside looks like lol, do what you want w that ( not memorable or the warmth distracted me). I'm really here to talk about this one pastry in particular. I got that cute square fruit pastry, the coffee pastry, and raspberry cream danish. I didn't get to try the the fruit pastry but by the looks of it, it can be realllllly good or terribly bad. This place is so good. I have been there many times (way too many my waistline says) lol their pasties are delicious and their croissants are perfect.
