I'm willing to try again, but I sat and watched the customer/cashier interaction was upsetting. None of my questions were answered and when I asked if there was a milk substitute I was met with indifference. There was no one else in line, but it felt like there was a rush to order and move along. A customer came in wanting baguettes because he said he read it on their website. Same lady behind the counter who waited on me, treated him the same. When he asked her to remove it off their site if they're not going to sell it, she disregarded him. Didn't apologies. Nothing. OK, another update here. Yesterday we had a gathering at friend's house, and people wanted cake, so I went to my go-to cake shop and bought a cake! I had never tried their Fraisier cake, and yesterday when I got there, the cake was up front and I said why not? Instead of getting my regular cakes, I bought the fraisier. Everyone LOVED it. I agree with the other reviewer Rachel. I can handle a little poor customer service but why I'll never go back again is that the cake we ordered was horrible. Sickly sweet frosting that tasted of lard over a very bland cake. Plus, after having their cake and coffee outside, we were told customers are not allowed to use their restrooms. Ridiculous! Covid is well behind us, and other restaurants and bakeries have their restrooms open. Today we went to Katya's Bakery nearby who has much better quality bakery items, as well as open restrooms for their customers. Cafes and restaurants have been open for many months for customers to use the restrooms. They care about their customers where obviously L'Artison does not, and we will never go back. read more

The food, prices, and service is in this place are amazing. My friend and I stopped in here for coffee and a breakfast treat before getting our nails done at a nearby nail spa. The service we received was so quick and friendly. The choices and presentation of their baked goods and bread was fantastic. We had a hard time choosing. We settled with a fruit tart to split and a loaf of bread with butter to nibble on, as well as drip coffee. All were outstanding. The flaky crust on the fruit tart was light, flakey, and delicious. The bread had an outstanding crust and light flavorful soft and perfectly chewy inside. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stop by. read more

Tucked inside a small shopping center by silver lake in Everett, no one would expect to know there is a delicious French bakery hiding in the corner. The restaurant display sign was hard to see, the parking lot was relatively small, but that didn't stop us invading the area for some French goodies. Since it was raining outside, we got some coffee to start our day. For food, we got a ham and cheese sandwich on a French roll, the Neapolitan and raspberry mousse. The sandwich was good and hearty, but not something I would rave about. However, those pastries and desserts... so deadly and addicting. They looked vibrant and smelled like heaven, I might have left my drools on their glass case. The service was friendly as well. Ever since I found this place, my favorite has always been the raspberry mousse. It's so fruity but not overly rich. The individual size (oh yes, they have the full cake size too!) was just enough to make me happy and still looking forward to come back for more the next time. It's not too sweet and it reminds me the Asian bakery as well. I can only hope this bakery stays open forever. read more

I opted for a plain croissant, but they have a wide variety of sweets, cookies, pastries, cakes and offer sandwiches for breakfast and lunch as well as coffee and tea. The croissant was delightful -- crispy and perfectly fluffy inside unlike the doughy croissants that are so typical at most places. Don't be fooled by the busy street and the strip mall parking, the cafe has a little outdoor patio tucked away that looks over the some of the wetlands that makes for a really nice spot to enjoy your pastry, and the inside is cute and tidy as well. read more

Delicious pastries never disappoints I bought them several times and tried several items. The croissants are wonderful.

When we first came here for lunch and i saw the menu, i thought it was super basic. But we ended up getting the lunch combo and loved all of the sandwiches (even if they were simple, they were very good!). I got the Brie sandwich on a croissant and it was such a good amount of brie. The others got the ham and cheese, which was also great. The winners are the pastries - they are all so delicious. The croissants, especially, were so delicate and crispy and buttery all in one bite. read more

L'Artisan French Bakery is a small cafe, a hidden treasure that everyone should know about. When we used to live in Marysville we loved going there as a treat, almost every weekend! Unfortunately we moved to whidbey island so we are not as close. With that said, I called yesterday morning to check if they had my favorite mixed fruit pastry. They said they had 18 so I reserved 4 plus 1 raspberry mini cake. I knew how popular this bakery was, I had to call ahead of time. They asked me to pay before pickup, which is understandable. I gave them my information and they told me I was approved. Great, done and taken care of. 10mins later I got a call back with them asking for the 3 digit code on the back of my card. I thought it was unusual because they already got my payment. I didnt think anything else after that because she said they needed it for the receipt. Whatever. When we got there, most of their desserts were mostly gone as I expected. The place still looked the same as I remembered ... clean and happy customers enjoying their desserts. I told the lady that I was there to pick up my order. When she brought it to me, I was confused because the box was unusually small. She showed me my pastries, it WAS NOT what I paid for. It was a fruit tart instead. When I told her that it wasn't it, she told me that the one I wanted was all gone. I've never felt so disappointed. I remained calm and told her how disappointed I was. I told her that's the reason why I called ahead of time because I knew they were going to run out! She did not look like she was even sorry and just said, "oh so you don't want this then?" I repeated to her how disappointed I was and that I drove over an hour and half! I told them that too when I was placing my order! I took the dessert anyway because I was not going home empty handed. The desserts still looked fantastic. Unfortunately, when I took my long awaited bite of the raspberry cake, it was not the same. The cake was stale as it had been sitting in their display for quite some time. Tried the fruit tart .... it was just okay. I didn't even finish my dessert as I usually devour them within minutes of getting it. I know this was a long review, I apologize. I just wanted to let you know how heartwrenchingly disappointed I was because I was looking forward to their wonderful pastries! "Vaut le voyage"? ... not this time. I'm only giving a 2 stars, although I wanted to give 1 star. Prior to this visit I would have given 5 stars because I've had awesome desserts and great customer service in the past. This bakery has gone down hill, AVOID at all cost! Last time I was there my experience was atrocious. I ordered a drink and a slice of cake to enjoy there. My drink was disgusting, cake was ok. But what I witnessed happen to another customer was what really struck me. There was a lady there that ordered a drink, slice of cake and 2 croissants and had her drink and cake there as well. She went to eat one of the croissants and she couldn't even take a bite of it! The croissant was nothing like what they were selling in the display, it was flat and did not look fresh. I watched her go to the counter and ask to exchange it for a fresh one since this one was not edible. The lady behind the counter was so extremely rude! She grabbed the croissant and threw it in the garbage and said that since she already touched it they won't be exchanging anything- her tone was so disrespectful. The customer tried to explain that it wasn't even edible but was told that it's already in the garbage and she shouldn't have touched it if she wasn't going to eat it. The whole experience was just unbelievable. I have never seen such horrible customer service! It was obvious that they sold something that wasn't fresh but how they treated their customers is just not ok! This kind of behavior will lose you customers, I know that day you lost at least 2 since I know I will never be coming back and I'm sure that lady that was treated so rudely by you will not be back either. read more

I wish I could have been impressed with L'Artisan but after trying their Snow White cake, I was hugely disappointed. I came in here with my eyes set on trying a piece of their divine cakes and saw that there was one last piece of Snow White left in the case. I figured it must be a popular amongst the locals and gave it a try. The buttercream tasted days old and it was hard to sink my teeth into. While the lemon cake was moist and flavorful, the custard in the middle made my stomach turn. It was way too dense and overly sweet. I had been hoping for a light, airy cake but instead ended up with a heavy, overly rich cake that did not taste fresh. I didn't even want to finish my slice because it was that bad. I can't speak on their breads but I will pass on their cakes if I ever make my way around here again. UPDATED LATER THAT NIGHT: I knew their buttercream was old because I ended up getting sick shortly after eating the Snow White cake. It made my stomach hurt and gave me a nauseating feeling later at night and I knew instantly it was a result from my cake earlier today. Today is a Sunday and I'm guessing that no one bakes fresh pastries on Sundays because I know for a fact that what I had earlier was not fresh. I will never come back here again! read more

I happened to find myself North of Seattle. I was off the beaten path and saw this bakery a few miles away. What the heck? French pastries? I'm in! My navigation was less than accurate so I passed it once and had to double back. Tucked away in a small strip mall, you'll find this lovely bakery. I keep my hands in my pockets at bakeries telling myself, "Just get a few things. Geez! Not that! Do you know how many carbs is in that? Seriously? Your ass doesn't need that much sugar." That goes on for 4 minutes or so. I walked away with a croissant and cream puff. A croissant is one of the standards by which I judge bakeries. It was very light an airy and although buttery, not so much where it was too heavy. There was also an egg wash on the surface of the croissant and I have mixed feelings on that. The cream puff...wow! If you look at my picture, it was mostly cream. It's not a bad thing, I just found it refreshing to get a nice portion of cream filling. The chocolate paired really well with the cream, which was not too sweet and a bit more eggy than I'm used to. Service was friendly and fast. I found the selection a bit small but that could be because it was on a Saturday afternoon so I won't hold that against them. I'm really glad I visited this place and will likely do so again, very soon. read more

The hubby and I have now tried a few more things: Almost croissant - still my favorite - INCREDIBLE! Quiche Lorraine - FANTASTIC! Perfect. Pear and Cheese Tart - HOLY COW - CRAZY GOOD! The crust - the filling - just amazing. Chocolate Ganache - Chocolate Heaven. Needless to say we will be back to try more items. Like any great bakery - go early for best selection. In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that I worked here years ago, and the owner Rosanna is miserable to work for. As a person who can't get enough fresh food for breakfast or lunch, when I found the French Bakery, I was ecstatic. I used to work for a casino and we loved the Frasier cakes so much we bought them whole to sell in our restaurant. The glass storefront which lets you see into the actual bakery itself adds a whole lot of charm. I could sit and watch for hours. I've had items now twice from this bakery. The croissants were the first time and items we purchased- they were superb. The second was a surprise birthday cake this past weekend and it was the Brazilian Mocha- it was a bit disappointing. First, they unfortunately from an internal miscommunication (they admitted was their fault) the cake was made a day earlier than needed. Second this cake is gorgeous! I mean the price point for the amount of beauty and detail that goes into this cake is spot on! The layers that make up the inside of the cake are a combo of yummy flavors and textures. The third part of this, is the letdown and that is the outside frosting. I'm not sure if it's the aspect of it that makes it beautiful to look at, but it has an non pleasing texture and flavor that lingers in the mouth. So much so that I couldn't get past it to really enjoy the wonderful inside components. Usually I can understand if I, personally and independently, do not like something, but the whole family agreed and the cake was mostly thrown away; lots of the slices left untouched on the plates. Maybe it's more meaningful since it was for my birthday, and I'm just really disappointed that my family spent that amount on something that ended up in the garbage. I know the bakery knows how to bake to be able to make a croissant like that- there's just something really off about this cake. read more

We went in six minutes before closing and both people behind the counter were friendly and polite. The cases were a bit low on options (because they were about to close) and the person helping us apologised. We made our choices: lemon meringue tart, peach tart, and apple turnover. I was going to wait until we got home but my friend broke in to the turnover and loved it. So I gave in and took a bite finally and yeah, it was worth the hype. I'm only disappointed I didn't find this bakery earlier because I've been buying the little individual desserts at Safeway/Albertsons bakery for the same price and they're not even comparable. We've had a chance to sample everything now and it's all really present well, taste amazing, and are pretty generous for a small dessert. The bakery is really clean, there's areas to sit and dine in (we took ours to go), there is a bathroom for customers. The parking lot is easy enough to get in and out of, but on a Friday night it was definitely packed and seemed like occasionally it could be difficult to get a spot.
