I really like this bakery, the selections offered are truly unique and the attention to detail is evident. I called ahead to verify hours, and what if not all items were available. If you call ahead they will also prepare and place your selections to the side which will minimize your time there. For my birthday weekend I wanted a something unique but really good, of course I selected the honey cake; the one word I would use to describe it is "decadent." The servers are always different and lack the personal skills to prioritize orders based on when they receive them. The honey cake is SO amazing. So fluffy, light, moist and perfectly lightly sweet. I've never had a cake with this kind of flavor. Very unique and I really loved it. Very sad when it was gone! Next time I'll have to buy the whole 9" cake! Chocolate cake (spartak)... hard decision on which is my favorite. Chocolate is also perfectly sweet, not too chocolatey rich. And the perfect layers are so beautiful. Belochka - has a nice hazelnut crunch in the center is yummy and gives a welcomed texture. I also had the spinach and cheese and the chicken/bacon/mushroom pirozhki which was delicious. Such soft bread with a creamy cheese spinach inside. Perfect warmed up and slightly toasted. Really amazing find! I'm very happy I discovered this European bakery on Yelp. Their peaches and Italian pizelle were top favorites at my party. The peaches looked super cute and too good to eat, we were surprised by their delicious fig and paste filling. The macaroons are excellent in flavor and held their shapes when we cut into them. The almond bites were excellent and I can't get enough of their condensed milk filling. They are pretty reasonably priced too. I love that they are open most days till 7 pm. My main critique would be of their savory foods - the piroshkies were not good. There was too much dough and not enough meat, the flavors were meh, desserts are clearly their strong suite. I also wish their dessert cones were filled all the way with that delicious creamy filling, unfortunately they were only half filled. Only tried this place once, but I think it was enough for me to recommend this bakery. Every food item is reasonably priced. I tried the beef/chicken piroshki and spartak, and they were delicious!! I didn't even have my piroshki warmed up and it was still good. The cake? My gosh, it was to die-for! The lady who helped me was patient. Informed her that it was my first time there and she gave me her honest opinions of some items. I appreciated that. The place is intimate but very quiet and welcoming! Cute little bakery with indoor seating. I went in looking for a fruit puff pastry but they didn't have any at the time but I did still pick up some cute goodies! Hard pass on the pink whipped treat they have (forgot the name). The fruit tulip was delicious! It had strawberries & blueberries inside of jello with whipped cream on top & the tulip cup was made of chocolate. Have yet to try the peach cookie because it's just way too cute to eat Everything is reasonably priced! I finally made it out here to visit a friend who works nearby. She suggested Katya's for lunch and I enthusiastically said yes! I have had them on a "to visit" Yelp list for ages and since my first visit have been a least a half dozen times. The bakery is on the corner of a building with two entrances and parking was easy. I think I read that another Yelper said it was a sketchy neighbourhood but I say disregard that. The bakery is just in a nondescript functional place but charming inside. The tables were clean and the counter staff were all very friendly. On my first visit, I had their delicious borscht with sliced rye bread. I also ordered one of their piroshki to split with my dining companion. The filling with packed with chicken, bacon, and diced mushrooms. She ordered a sweet crêpe with banana, strawberries, and Nutella - very pretty and tasty, according to her. I took home a bunch of beautiful macarons, oreshki, and persiki. They were all delicious and very affordable! I bought a Medovik slice for my partner because he's a fan of honeyed sweets! The cake is a layered sponge cake with a cream filling and is often covered with nuts or crumbs made from leftover cake. Glad they are located a little farther than I usually go for bakery goods because if they were closer to our home, I'd be there WAY more than I should! PS. Buy a peach cookie. We had the cabbage piroshky, shrimp piroshky, beef crepe, all tasted good. The honey cake was amazing. I would give this place 4.5 out of 5. We stopped here after doing a Google search while on I-5 looking for a sweet treat after our date day. We have been extremely lucky doing this and our luck struck again!! We went in and we very surprised at all the different pastries, cookies and cakes. We ordered 2 macaroons, an Italian pizzelle, and a piece of the Spartak cake. While I didn't try the pizzelle, the cake and macaroons were so light and delicious that I wished I could have more. They have very good looking lunch items that I am goin to go back and try, plus there are so many baked goods that I am sure are just as amazing as what we had. Really cute bakery that looks average on the outside but has so many little surprises on the inside. One they do cheap custom cakes. Two they do more then sweet pastries but savory breads. Three they almost make russian dumplings. I got a custom honey cake, it was sweet and tasted like carmel creme creme cake, all of the guest really loved it. The honey cake here is soooo good, you will slap your mother to get a slice! Staff is very friendly. I've only been once and got the cake, but my stomach was absolutely aroused by the sight and smell of the piroshkies. This is an ethnic bakery/patisserie that kind of seems out of place for its location, but boy am I glad it's nearby! I can't wait to dine here again. Great job! 10/10 will visit again! read more

I originally noted this bakery and its terrific reviews from Yelp. Finally had the opportunity to stop by mid morning to check out Katya's Bakery. And everything is as advertised - lovely, eye catching pastry cases and tasty baked goods. We sampled some of their tiny cheese pastries (75 cents each), a fried piroshky with meat and veggies ($2.29), a large football shaped piroshky with chicken, bacon, cabbage and mushrooms ($3.59), and a piece of layered honey cake ($3.99). Beautiful mini and large cakes, pastries, confections, savory baked goods, and even macarons! There's also crepes, soups, pickled items, and assorted beverages. Whether savory or sweet, the items we tried were spot on. I appreciated that the honey cake was just right and not cloying. You can taste the genuine ingredients used. While we were there, there were several takeout orders, including a giant birthday, then three cakes, a bunch of ornate cupcakes, and other baked goods for a wedding. Others stopped in for a pastry and beverage to go. It was great to also hear patrons speak in Russian while discussing the various cake varieties. My wife and I went to this shop yesterday (5/14/22) around 6pm because she was craving chocolate cake. We found this shop around the area and went to give it a try because we saw the good reviews. There is only one younger gentlemen at the counter and a family ahead of us. The wait was about 15-20 minutes but was understandable because the family before us had many questions and he served another table who dined inside. As it was our turn to order, the younger cashier said "Did you want me to serve the man behind you first because he has only one thing"? My wife and I were taken aback because we waited 20 minutes by this point and already knew what we were going to order which was two pieces of cake that were already made. The man behind us only waited a couple minutes and was of white/Russian descent. The Russian man even started to slowly walk up like we were going to let them treat us this way. I am a Filipino man with my wife being white. This restaurant gave us the impression of racism not only because of this instance, but getting dirty looks from a woman in the back baking. I receive a fair share of micro racism that not only I but my wife notices, but this was a first. As for the pieces of cake we bought, it did seem like they were made with quality ingredients and tasted descent. read more

I like that this is a family run business and the prices on the Piroshky are more reasonable than other bakeries for the same quality, but overall, I wasn't terribly impressed with the pastries we had. We bought: The peach cookie Bilyashi The shrimp Piroshky Sweet Piroshky - strawberry Sweet Piroshky- cottage cheese The bilyashi was the best one. Flavorful and well done. It's a fried dough item though so expect it to be oily. The other ones are fine, a lot of dough though. I think it would be nicer if the dough was thinner. The sweet Piroshky were the same way but were made well. The items here are traditionally made and Ukrainians will appreciate that. Come here to support a family run business with better prices than competitors and fresh made pastries. If you're in Pike Market though, choose Piroshky Piroshky over this place. read more

Excellent European style bakery in Everett! I ducked into this place as it came recommended and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Bakeries are a real weakness of mine and Katya's effectively touched my Achilles Heel. I had some marvelous honey cakes that I bought and took home for Steve and I to share for a dessert. The fruit macarons were really good, one of the better ones we've had in a while. We tried blueberry, raspberry, and strawberry. Can you tell we love berries? We were not fans of the vanilla or hazelnut macaron. To get our hazelnut fix, we purchased a whole hazelnut cake. We were hoping for some Nutella like spread in the cake, but there wasn't any. The hazelnut flavor came from the hazelnut meringue in the center which made this cake yummy. read more

Came here early Tuesday morning, first customer of the day. I came hungry and was happy to see the big glass case filled with beautiful bakery items. First, I ordered a hot chai. This was very good, not too sweet and a nice balance of spices. Next, borscht soup. As I was waiting for my soup, I could clearly hear a very animated conversation, in what I assume is Russian. What was entertaining to me, was that the speaker spoke in loud demonstrative tones; like she was describing a terrific accident. This conversation continued for most of my stay. The only drawback to this, was that I could not really focus on my food. What happened? Did everyone come out alive? These thoughts occupied my stay. Next a cabbage piroshky. I enjoyed the filling, but crust could have been sturdier. It more the eat with knife and fork type of pastry, while I am more accustomed to a bread covering. Pelmeni order is next. Ooh, these were my favorites. Made fresh to order, they came out with a noodle covering and a meat and mushroom filling. Really great taste and a generous portion. By now, I am very full. Still ordered a slice of honey cake and two peach cookies to take home. Later after digesting my big meal here, I took a few bites. The honey cake was alright good. Tasted more of coffee than honey to me. Peach cookies were dry and lacked flavor. However, the next day, the flavors of the pastries really developed.The honey cake had many subtle flavors of honey, vanilla and spices. The peach cookies had the taste of caramel and walnuts. Both had elements I had not tasted before. Perhaps the fact they were now at room temperature, allowed these flavors to come out. I would recommend doing this. Would come back again, both to get more of my favorites and try new pastries. Eating food made with care is a joy and this spot met my expectations. read more

I am giving this place 3-star in hopes that the Manager notices & makes a change but I think it deserves a 4 - star rating because the most important things which are cleanliness & food are pretty good. I come back here to take food/pastries to go, also because I'm a local and this is one of the better cafe's in this area. On the negative side, I ordered coffee once and it tasted burnt, sour and was messy. So I never got coffee there again. The only thing that gets to me is the professionalism of this place. It's obviously a family owned place because random people & kids come in and out through the kitchen & help themselves to the food thats out on display : / The service isn't quick or informative. And there seem to be underage girls working always. Whenever you have a question, they don't know the answer and are constantly asking someone else in a different language, HATE THAT. Can't help but think they are talking crap about you right in front of you, silly I know but I feel the same about ladies at the nail salon. I know this place is European but this is America & when dealing with customers you should speak English, it's rude not to. Overall their customer service can get a little upgrade in everything they do starting from greeting you, to getting you served properly. Feels a bit disorganized back there.
