Portobello Katsu Sando

Got the portabella mushroom katsu sando and it was delicious. Nice and crisp, great flavor from the mushroom. It was a hearty meal. But something about the sandwich being squished down felt wrong, like it was vacuum sealed? I guess I'm too used to having my bread come out fluffy. Meh. Came with crisscut fries that were fried to perfection. It is a bit on the pricier side for what it is. Space is very clean, and usually not that busy, so easy to find seating. Easy parking in this large outdoor plaza.

Everything was tasty. I do wish the chicken was a bit more grilled though. But it tasted fine. For the price is was worth it . $12 including tax. The store itself was really clean too. I'd come back, and try something new.

A nice selection of Japanese and Korean foods. Some item can be considered too spicy for the average American, but I love spicy! They have a small number of table to sit down and eat. First timers should try their curry katsu. Parking can be challenging but seems to turn over quickly. There is a 30 min parking just out front. There is also a nice bakery next door that has lots of desserts and coffee! Nice people, clean restaurant, fresh made foods.

First I gotta say is the berry katsu sauce is the BOMB. It is a super tasty variation of katsu sauce. Everything here was quite good. The service is also very good. I believe her name is Jay(?) and she has perfected service with a smile. The ambiance is chill. With how good the food is the probably need more seating. I had the curry katsu plate special (thanks for the recommendation Jay) and it was all very flavorful. I am always looking for my next favorite katsu restaurant and this katsu was moist, flavorful, and crunchy. Combine the Katsu with the berry katsu sauce and I have found my new fav place to eat katsu. As a bonus they have yummy churro ice cream.

Every time I've come here, it always hits! Since it's located in a busy shopping plaza, it can get crowded during lunch, but people are constantly coming and going. Before you head inside, check the A-frame for the weekly combo specials (food + fountain drink) because they're a pretty good deal at $14.01 after tax. Once you order at the register, there are usually enough tables to eat at or a bench if you decide to do take out. Even with a bit of a crowd at 1PM on a Thursday, I didn't have any issues finding a seat. I've only ordered takeout, and I'm always impressed that the katsu stays warm and crispy. - Rosemary Chicken Katsu Sando with Spicy Mayo and Waffle Fries (Tuesday Special): 3 half sandwiches were much bigger than expected and very filling. The chicken was tender with a crispy coating, the bread stayed soft, and the mustard aioli and cabbage tied everything together without making it soggy. The spicy mayo added just the right amount of heat without overpowering the sandwich. Paired with the crispy, well-seasoned waffle fries, it was a satisfying meal. - Tteokbokki with Chicken Katsu (Thursday Special): Despite the chicken being packaged on top of the tteokbokki, the katsu stayed surprisingly crispy. The portion was also generous enough to share. I ordered the regular spice level, which had a nice kick. I was pleasantly surprised to find flat noodles mixed in with the rice cakes, making it feel more like a full entree than just a side of tteokbokki. The sauce was rich, flavorful, and perfect for dipping the katsu. I never would've thought to pair the two, but it worked well together! Who knew katsu could be so versatile? This spot is absolutely worth checking out if you're looking for a filling, affordable, and delicious meal.

I popped in here the other day for a quick bite before my haircut and been eyeing this place for a while. Definitely love curry and chicken Katsu combos in general. I was looking at the menu and ended up ordering a chicken Katsu bowl with rice. I love that they were very generous with the amount of chicken. Very well breaded and there was a little nice side of imitation crab. It definitely hit the spot such a simple bowl of rice with chicken yet so delicious! This will be a go to spot when I'm in the area before my haircut for sure!

It was my first time trying the place. Just started off with a pork curry katsu plate, regular spice level. The curry was simple and had a light sweetness to it. It is not as thick as some other places might have it. The katsu was light and crispy. Paired well with the simplicity of the curry. It also came with a small side salad, mac salad, and radish -- all of which added a refreshing element to the dish. After finishing my meal, I wasn't left feeling heavy.

Seen this restaurant on social media and thought I'd check it out since I was in the neighborhood. Ordered online which was simple enough. My order was ready in 15mins . I ordered the Curry katsu and the egg salad sandwich. Both were good and the portion size was good too. Good tasted fresh . Restaurant was very clean and service was great. My ordered was packed securely.

Service was friendly and quick. Our group ordered the following: Katsu plate (beef) Fried mushrooms Fish bowl Katsu Udon (pork) Everything was delicious, however, the mushrooms were definitely a favorite. The pork katsu was a little on the chewy side but the curry was great! They have weekday specials that are discounted and include a drink! Monday was the katsu plate - dine in only. The restaurant is clean and could technically accommodate a large group if it's not busy. Worst case scenario, it's part of a plaza with lots of outdoor seating.

I've been meaning to try out Katsu Bar since it's a close option to satisfy our Katsu curry cravings. This place did not disappoint! Ordering online was easy, the pickup process was smooth and the prices are pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get. We got the Baja Chipotle Sandwich with waffle fries ($16.50) and the Katsu Curry plate ($16.50). The sandwich was massive and the waffle fries were actually seasoned. This was probably my favorite dish of the two since it was unique. The katsu plate was the perfect portion size and I loved how spicy the curry was (even for mild). We will definitely be back to try out more of their katsu dishes!

Came hungry, left satisfied! Got the pork Katsu plate with curry sauce, the curry itself was a bit more spicy than I was expecting but in a good way. Inside was very clean, probably about 6 tables total and was full house when we were in the middle of our meal! And some people waiting for their to go orders. Will be back to try other offerings for sure.

Food is so flavorful and tasty. The staff brought everything out so quickly and we're happy we ordered almost everything separate option on the menu because it was worth it. We cleared all the plates. Great for kids as well. The staff were so nice, tables were clean and music playing was great. Def will return

Black Garlic Ramen with Katsu

Clean and well organized dining room in the Brea location. I ordered the black garlic ramen with katsu. The tonkatsu broth was rich and very tasty with the garlic. Noodles were perfectly cooked and alkaline texture. Ramen was generously served with a whole entire medium boiled egg. Pork katsu was moist inside and crispy on the outside delicious! Service was friendly and quick.

The owners made our visit extra special. They came out several times to check on us and even gave the kids Halloween goodie bags. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food, which was frustrating enough. I ordered several pieces of salmon and yellowtail nigiri, and every single one had wasabi hidden underneath the fish. There was no indication on the menu, and our server never mentioned it. My mouth was on fire, but what upset me most was that my son also took a bite and had the same experience. Plenty of kids eat sushi, and customers should be told if wasabi is already included under the fish. When I brought it up, our server apologized and initially said it wasn't supposed to come that way. Then the owner said it was intentional. Another owner tried to tell me it was "traditional" and "common," even though it wasn't disclosed anywhere. Instead of acknowledging that customers should be informed, I felt like they were trying to convince me the problem was mine. They also brought us our roll 45 mins later that was mostly avocado with very little fish and missing cucumber which only added to the disappointment. To their credit, they did remove our bill, and I appreciate that. However, by that point the experience had already been soured by the lack of communication and the way our concerns were handled. A simple warning that the nigiri is served with wasabi under the fish would have prevented the entire situation.

If you can handle spice, I loved the regular spice level, otherwise mild is there next level down and was perfect for my friends. Out of the hamburger, chicken katsu and the pork tenderloin katsu, I would have to go with the chicken. It was juice, tender and so delicious. The pork was a little bit more on the tougher side when compared to the chicken. But no matter which protein you go with, they were all delicious. A curry plate also comes with soup and salad. Both were served right away and very delicious. Despite how small the salad bowl was, they really stuffed it with salad. The server is nice and parking can get pretty crazy if you come during a rush. This is a great spot for a curry fix and would highly recommend.

When they came back we all asked for water and we were told I had to get rid of my energy drink I had with me. I understand their policy is no outside drinks but it's not like the entire table had teas from another shop, it was one person with a small energy drink can. Really nitpicky and stupid to enforce but whatever. We ordered our meals and everything came out great, the food was really tasty and fresh. Zero complaints about anything we ate at all! The katsu were all fried perfectly, very juice and quality meat. The curry was just a touch spicy and very flavorful. I especially loved the fried tofu, the dashi was some of the best I've had. At the end of the meal we said we had a cake and were told if we wanted to eat it there (with our own plates, napkins and utensils that we brought) it would be a $20 charge. I've never been to a place, especially an Asian restaurant, that has such a crappy policy. We reluctantly paid it but won't be coming back. We celebrate every birthday in the family at restaurants and this is the first time we've ever had pushback over cake.

Our server wasn't very personable but also not rude or terrible. I felt a little rushed even with a small menu. Being that I had never been there before, I wasn't sure what to get so I pretty much just blurted out whatever. What we ordered: 1) Black deluxe chicken paitan with pork - the broth was so tasty, it was absolutely delicious. The pork slices were generous, however, it was DRY. 2) Pork chashu - for my kid. They loved the broth as well and also felt that the pork slices were dry. I wanted to give 4 out of 5 stars, but I am going to hand them a 3. I loved the tasty broth, but the pork was too dry. How could you mess that up as a ramen restaurant? The portions looked a little smaller than what I am used to paying for much less money. That photo of my black deluxe chicken paitan with pork is very deceiving. It looks like a lot, but it definitely wasn't. I usually can't finish my bowl of ramen in one sitting and take the other half home. I barely had any broth in there, and being that the broth was very good, I was disappointed to run out of it before I was even done with the noodles and meat. Would I return? Sure. I liked the food. It's not a place I would go out of my way to eat at, but if I was around the neighborhood and wanted ramen, I would dine there again.

We also got the kaarage and the portions were HUGE! I definitely recommend grabbing the mayo. I liked how umami the broth of the tsukemen was. However, the temperature of the broth changed very fast! I would love if the noodles were a little hotter so the dipping doesn't change the temperature and if there was a bit more chashu. However, the tsukemen was good with flavor and variety of veggies in the broth. There was a good amount of bean sprouts and bamboo shoots! I definitely recommend this to people who like Japanese food! Tip: Parking is ample and there's a restroom inside the establishment! There's utensils and condiments on the side of the table.
