Katsu Bar is a restaurant located in Chino! We really wanted to try it out after seeing videos of it online and unfortunately we were a little disappointed. The portions were a bit small for the price. The katsu sauce was sweet and tasted likke berrys for some reason, even though we did not order that flavor. There may have been some mix up in our order? The tteokbok katsu was just okay as well. The katsu in general was good pretty decently, but everything else that accompanied did not match up. The fries were also a bit cold. Parking was really easy and the service was also really nice! There were things like a photo booth inside of the store which was pretty cook. My husband and I have been passing by this place for a while and decided to finally give it a try. The insight has some seating and there's also a place where you can take photos. If you feel cute we decided to dine in on a Friday night. As a vegetarian, I was happy to see that there were a few vegetarian options both for those that eat egg and do not eat egg. I tried the Portobello Katsu sandwich and it was good although it was a little dry I didn't love the berry sauce that it came with, I would now definitely ask to substitute it with spicy mayo given my taste preferences. I'm not a huge Sweet n Savory combination girl. My husband got the ordinary Katsu sandwich and thought it was delicious. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal and will definitely be back to try some of their other bowl options. As a vegetarian, there's also a cauliflower and mushroom rice bowl that you can try. If you love, Katsu and are not vegetarian, this place definitely has a lot of options that you should come check out. It didn't really take that long for my order, but the reason why I rated this place one out of five stars was that there was literally a roach crawling around near the counter. I tried this place for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised! I was apprehensive because I'm particular about my curry. We ordered the chicken katsu plate with extra spicy curry. It was absolutely delicious! I love the fresh radish cubes too! We also had the fried mushrooms and they were super tasty too. Everything was soooooo good, we went back a second time! Good food at a decent price. I came here for lunch and tried their $13 lunch special menu. For $13 you can get a katsu rice plate or katsu sando with fries. There are other dishes on the lunch special but those were the 2 that stood out for me. The place is small and clean and also has a Photo Booth area. My katsu plate was really good and boxed very well. I felt the portions were good for the price. Overall, the quality at this place is really good, even the to-go boxes looks like a lot of attention and care went into it. The restaurant looks nice, very trendy with a little Photo Booth that's pretty common in newer Korean places. The service was good, it wasn't very busy on the Sunday we went, the wait time for food was only 10 minutes or so. The reason I rate this place 3 stars is because for the price, the food was just average. I didn't like how they plated the food in a pan (if your tongue accidentally touches the pan it's very metallic and ruins the food). A plate would've been fine. The rice and curry, which is of course the most important part, was fine. There are other places that do the curry better and add more to the curry (like Coco Ichibanya). The mild curry was actually pretty spicy, so beware, though I didn't factor that into the review. The mac salad might as well have just been more rice, it's fine, it just doesn't add anything. That being said, the rest of the meal is pretty good. The salad is tasty, and I do enjoy the addition of the radishes to cut through the curry. Finally, neither my girlfriend nor I were full, the portion sizes were too small. I even ate all the rice even though I was out of food, I ended up snacking at home anyway. I've been to Katsu Bar before, but this newly opened Chino Hills location isn't anywhere near as good. It's clean and quiet, and has some kind of gimmicky photo booth inside, which might be fun to check out if you're with friends. The calamari and mac salad were pretty good but nothing special. The fried stuff is definitely frozen and then refried. Egg salad sando was missing the aonori so the presentation was underwhelming. The shokupan was stale too. The yubu is so bad, it all comes out ice cold. The shrimp was the worst offender for me-- they were dry like they'd been left out all day, super tiny, and not deveined. Leaving a pretty late review but this is for their grand opening BOGO deal when they first opened. Overall, I felt so bad for the workers as they were so backed up BUT it was one of the worst flow of operations I've ever witnessed. People were getting the wrong meals, missing items, and the food quality just wasn't there. They had 1 cashier, 4 runners, and a few chefs in the back. They seemed like they had enough staff to help run and support the BOGO day but there was just lack of direction for staffing and they operated very inefficiently. Black Garlic Udon with Katsu: They gave us the wrong order at first. It was ramen noodles instead of udon so I asked for them to correct it. To be honest, the ramen tasted much better than the udon frankly because the udon was too soggy. I also highly suggest asking the katsu on the side because it ended up becoming too soggy to eat as well. Shrimp Katsu Rice Place: The rice was pretty undercooked. The food didn't feel like it came out fresh, it felt like it had been sitting outside for a while. Their katsu sauce also didn't taste like authentic katsu, it had a weird ketchup taste to it. I would suggest sticking to their normal katsu sandwiches. I've had those in the past and those would be more solid options imo. read more

So excited to have something different in chino hills. Went there for lunch and the service was nice and attentive. They explained to us what's best seller and their favorite items. We got the kimchi mandu which is pretty good, filling is tasty and the mandu is crispy. Their katsu sando is great, katsu is not dry and is well balanced with the bread, dipped it in curry sauce is cherry on top. Their strawberry sando is to die for. Reminds me when I'm in Asia. I saw that they opened up recently near Starbucks and Panda Express. I first came during their grand opening so they had specials for the first few days. I chose to get their fried cauliflower ($8), Yubuchobap which is marinated soft tofu skin pockets filled with spicy tuna and egg salad ($3.50 each), and a katsu platter ($15.50) which came with a small salad, macaroni salad, pickled radish cubes, with rice. I liked their fried cauliflower and yubu appetizers more than my entree. The yubu was filling and not too heavy on the mayonnaise. The fried cauliflower was crispy and the ranch sauce went well with it. The original katsu sauce was very tomato sauce flavored, I would try their curry katsu sauce next time. Wherever it be with tteokbokki, udon, or ramen, every single one of their dishes are delicious. My personal favorites were the Curry Udon and Katsu tteokbokki. We ordered it with Szechuan level, so much flavor but wished it was a tad bit spicier. Rice cakes are silky and chewy. I loved the bits of glass noodles to soak up the sauce. Rosemary Katsu Sando - simple but great. Original Katsu Sandwich - bun is so good, slight sweetness. Everything paired well. Mushroom Tempura - batter is light and crispy.
