Got there close to 10pm on Saturd. We sat at the bar (because dining table is fully booked). Ordered salmon oshi, hand roll spicy salmon, and flourfless banana chocolate cake, miso cod. I have to say, those sushis are excellent! Flavorful, fresh, balanced sauce, and nice kick! Hand roll sushi is also different, it is wrapped in some sort of sesame rice sheet (?) instead of the typical seaweed sheet and it's somewhat shaped like spring roll (except that the edges are not closed off). making it 'easy' to eat. The black cod paired with sake cream is delish!! We licked the place clean. Dessert is light and not too sweet. Attentive, fast, and friendly services. The restaurant is the same, beautiful and friendly staff. We came here for winterlicious. I reviewed the menu and knew I was not interested in the Winterlicious offerings so I planned on ordering from the main menu...no problem, right? First, I want to say our server was great! He was professional and courteous. He informed us that if we chose to do the winterlicious menu all parties had to do the winterlicious menu. Why? Why can't I eat something I can eat? I don't like carpaccio, I'm not interested in beef cheek. Why force people? He said he would have to ask permission. I was shocked! What place forces people to eat from the winterlicious menu? Why give us a main menu? The manager came, and said he will allow it this time. Wow! How generous! He informed us they do this for ease of service. So you want us in and out quickly? I get that. But, we are here to enjoy dinner, not to be rushed. If this is your policy, I can respect that but maybe put that on your website and highlight that. If that was in the website, I would have never even entertained the thought of visiting the restaurant at all. I tipped my server well, he was doing his job. Overall, I won't go back. It's weird to create weird policies that alienate customers. It was our first time in Toronto and we found Kasa Moto on TikTok. We had to go check it out. It was in a cute area, we sat up front by the window so we were able people watch. We had a 12:00 brunch reservation, but we wanted to order things not on the brunch menu so we did that along with bottomless champagne for $75. Our server was absolutely amazing. We kept telling her how great she was. We started off with sushi, scallops, ceviche, wagyu carpaccio and miso soup. We also got the black cod and mushroom udon. The black cod was amazing. The food was average (our appetizers were good and the entrees were okay) but the service was just painstakingly slow and terrible. It took them 20 mins to take our drink orders and another 20 for food. To top it off, someone on the table got the stone entree with beef and the stone was cold and not able to cook the meat. Came here for their Japanese High Tea, and overall the experience was good. You can definitely tell there was a lot of thought put into the menu and the ingredients were fresh. However, the maki pieces were a miss , they were tinier than advertised and since we got the end pieces it looked like they were falling apart. The experience may have been better if we were not seated right in front of the kitchen. They were serving buffet brunch at the same time, so the kitchen aromas and traffic masked our "high tea" experience. Perhaps it would have been better if they seated us in a quieter spot, we smelled like kitchen cooking oils by the time we left. What a swanky restaurant! My coworkers and I came for dinner about a month ago and we had a great experience. I will share that we did make reservations in advance and I suggest you do too. It was poppin' in there! We got a giant booth for the three of us and it was perfect. Very spacious and comfortable, yet we were still able to pick up the fun vibe of the place from our table. We each ordered a cocktail and we got several dishes to share. Our server suggested at least 5 plates for the three of us and that was perfect.. As was my delicious whiskey cocktail. We went with the crispy Brussel sprouts, the vegetarian fried rice, the seafood udon, the Kasa Moto sushi roll, and the pressed salmon. The Brussels sprouts were to die for, I probably ate the majority of them. I also really liked the pressed salmon. Perfectly bite size, we all loved them. The Kasa Moto sushi roll was probably my third favorite. Really, everything was tasty. There wasn't much left over at all. I was in Toronto for my friend's bachelorette party, and was part of the planning committee. Taking her love of sushi and the temperate weather into account, we chose Kasa Moto because it's one of Toronto's only sushi restaurants with a rooftop. We reserved a private area and put in our deposit, and though we ended up making a last minute change to move indoors due to lower than expected temperatures, we had a fantastic meal and fantastic time. We were balling out for this special occasion, so we ordered sushi boats, wagyu beef, and sashimi, and all the special rolls. Service was top notch, as were the drinks. In fact, we were too full to go dancing afterward. We saved that for the following evening. Kasa Moto is one of my favourite places to dine in Yorkville. The restaurant is actually quite big, well decorated, and a perfect place for a date night or nice dinner. Servers were also very attentive to our needs! This was my second time at Kasa Moto. I got the Soft Shell Maki, which was just absolutely perfect: just the right amount of crunch, probably some of the best maki I've tried. I decided to compare the Australian Wagyu and the A5 Wagyu (which I had the first time I came) and it was just as good. For the price, I'd definitely rather get the Australian Wagyu over the A5, but both are a great treat! They give you a small grill/hotstone to cook the slices yourself. I also got the Wagyu Skirt Steak, which came with generously thick slices and was much more filling than the AUS Wagyu. We also got the Lobster Robata dish, which was definitely one of the stars of the night. Perfectly cooked, and a great grilled flavour. And of course we had to have some rice along with all the meat, so I picked the Vegetable Fried Rice. I've tried both the Vegetable Fried Rice and Kinokomeshi (Mushroom Rice), and they are both top tier. However, I do prefer the latter (especially if you are a fan of truffle)! You definitely get what you pay for at Kasa Moto. Although it is on the more pricey side, the quality of the food makes it worth it. I was really looking forward to trying this place since I've heard great things from other people. The food was mediocre, nothing special. Most of the dishes we ordered were recommended by our server, but we weren't really impressed. The shrimp tempura was good but again nothing special. The spicy crispy chicken wasn't good at all, it was so overpowering by the sauce. The sushi, udon and steak is ok as well - again, nothing impressive. The whole night, there was a faint smell of sewage at our table which wasn't very pleasant. Our server probably dropped by our table twice, and was hard to track down. We were seated in the covered patio space and it was a bit chilly, we didn't really have any heaters nearby us. I think only their patio space is open. Yorkville rooftop patio in the summer...name a more iconic duo. We had some important folks come to visit our office so we needed to impress. We booked a table on the patio (the main dining room was not open on the day we selected) online ahead of time. The day of we were actually running late and called to push the reservation which they were able to do. Our group showed up at 4:30pm on the hottest day of the year. We were seated at the very back of the patio near a big fireplace which was off. It was a nice spot because it was a little more private and shaded in that corner but there was absolutely no breeze and it was sweltering. They do have a good amount of interesting cocktails on the menu, including 2 mocktails. Unfortunately the were out of a lot of their more exotic and yummy sounding drinks even though service had just started. I wound up only being able drink the Berry Bonsai which was what was available. It was pretty refreshing and essentially a berry spritzer. The food on the menu is mostly meant to be shared. The menu progresses by section, going from appetizers to more substantial starch based dishes and finishing off with sushi on the back. The waitress suggested ordering plates from each section. Their rice dishes were very good. The kamameshi was a mixed mushrom fried rice finished with truffle oil. Definitely an umami bomb. The wagyu fried rice was also good but I preferred the former. I think I was expecting cubed wagyu in it but it was more like tiny clumps of ground wagyu. read more

We had such a fun time at Kasa Moto lounge in Yorkville as our spot of choice after going out for a nice dinner experience at George. By the time we got there, the kitchen had shut down (about 11 pm) which was fine for us as the lounge was open until 1 am. It was fun to check in a greet the staff that Saturday night. Being formally dressed it felt like we were celebrities and receiving compliments on our looks and getting asked if we came from the symphony or somewhere equally super classy. The only thing that could have elevated our grand entrance experience would have been a coat check. George had this down pat and made us feel like royalty. There's something about taking off our overcoats and throwing them over a bar stool that wasn't appropriate. And if the bar was packed it would have been more awkward. I was after a spot that would be suitable for photographs and Kasa did not disappoint. With it's Japanese theme and colours, along with the granite bar top that was lit from underneath and cast a nice glow on people's faces, the pictures turned out awesome! The drinks were excellent. I opted for a refreshing vodka soda and was offered three different vodkas to choose from, nice. The crowd was varied and interesting to people watch, which is a Yorkville thing to do obviously regardless. We sat at the backlit bar which was a very cool spot, sharing space with the really fun DJ and his portable deck unit sitting alongside us. The Waygu carpaccio was so good, smooth, buttery waygu with just a hint of zest. The vegetable fried rice was also really good, the only thing I didn't love was the salmon tartar, the taste of the cucumber was overpowering. The maki are services with pickled ginger, fresh wasabi and soya sauce, but you don't even need it!! That's how good it is. Let me start by saying, this is my second visit to Kasa Moto. The first time I throuroughly enjoyed dining at the restaurant, but this time not so much.... I ordered two plates of food - Inari Maki and the broccoli tempura. The portions were a decent size but the level of freshness was not there at all. I eventually went home a few hours later to find out that I had food poisioning. A very unpleasent experience. Although, I'm not going to make this review completely bad... They do have a nice restaurant aesthetically but they could work on a lot of other things like quicker service, and better quality ingredients to match the Yorkville price point. Sashimi, sushi and rolls were delightfully flavorful. Sirloin, cod, and rice were tasty too. But we were pretty full by that point, so we are having them at home for another meal. Desserts were carefully prepared and delicious. Service was impeccable, pleasant, and helpful. I have been complaining about this for years, yet it continues. I would not spend one nickel at this place despite living across the road from them. Visited in September for a friend's birthday dinner, so this is a late review. The food at this place is really yummy. Yes, it's expensive, but affordable if you try a bunch of things and split with friends. My favourites were the Kamameshi rice, as the truffle flavour in it was really tasty. I also enjoyed the salmon tataki. It was almost a perfect night except for the fact that the patio lights were completely out near our table. In fact, I think the lights on the whole patio were out. We had to read our menus in the dark, using phone flashlights. read more

First time coming here was for drinks a year ago, but decided to come back for food this year with my fiancé on our anniversary. Couldn't find availability online for a reservation on a Tuesday evening, but after emailing them they made it happen. It was fairly quiet when we arrived around 630, but by the time we left it got packed. We ordered a couple drinks to start, and our waitress advised us on ordering a couple meat dishes, and one rice or noodle. We don't eat sushi so can't comment on that. I was a bit nervous about the reviews and comments from friends, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. And everything came out insanely fast. We had the pork belly bao which was incredible. I've never had pork belly before, and clearly I've been missing out. It complimented the doughy bun so well, and the meat was very tender. We also ordered the wagyu gyoza and fried rice, along with the chicken karaage and beef robata. So much flavour in everything without being overdone, and not super packed with salt. Their prices were on par for Yorkville, and for 4 drinks and 5 dishes, the bill came to 160 before tip. Service was friendly and the vibe was very chill.
