This was the best sushi I've had outside of Japan. The fish was so fresh and full of flavor. I will make a point to come here every time I'm in Toronto. I really liked the vibe of the restaurant as well. The service was great too.

Good quality sushi restaurant that's near my home. Clean friendly staff. Modern minimalist setting. Sashimi pieces can be cut pretty small. Food quality was higher before but still good. Aburi sushi is good here.

I wanted to try at least one sushi spot in Toronto before I left back to my home country and decided on this place. I went in on a weekday afternoon and there was no wait. I ordered their lunch omakase for $88, which was already way cheaper than what I could get in my area. The Lobster miso soup was slightly heaty and not too salty. There was a strong depth in flavor and some bits of lobster meat. It was a great dish to start off my meal. The Assorted sashimi was very good and fresh. My favorite of the dish was the wagyu uni and red snapper. I am normally not a fan of cream cheese but those cubes were very rich in flavor and delicious . For the nigiri there was 1 ootoro, 1 chutoro, 1 salmon belly, 1 tai and 1 hokkaido scallop. There was just a little bit more rice than I expected but the quality was great. All of the fish was very fresh. This was the first time I had aburi style sushi and I enjoyed them greatly. Each of the pieces had a nice smoky flavor as well as their respective fish taste. Presentation was 10/10 too with the rectangular shapes. My favorite one was the wagyu beef. Dessert was a panna cotta. I'm not that big of a fan of panna cottas because a lot of places make it too sweet. Not this place though. The panna cotta was both rich flavor and just slightly sweet with the sauce around it adding more to the sweetness. Overall, I was very happy coming to this place as my spot for sushi. The food was delicious and well worth the money. The only downside was the lack of variety within the available fish, but they were all very fresh.

My colleagues and I came for lunch and got the Lunch Omakase Tasting ($88). While the style is similar to an omakase, there aren't many interactions with the chefs and the prepared dishes are placed on the countertop for a server to bring them to you. We reserved seats at the bar counter so we could see the chefs preparing the food, but our seats were quite low with the counter acting as a wall in front of us, so you had to get up slightly from your seat to see. To start, we were served a massive lobster miso soup. Since it was the first course, I knew I would feel full faster with the upcoming courses and wish it came as a later course. Next, we had the sashimi assortment, wagyu and uni, and soy-marinated cream cheese. The sashimi was okay, with my favourite being the toro with its rich butteriness. The soy cream cheese was interesting and tasted a bit like caramel, but also exactly how it sounds. The uni was delightful - I wish the entire roll contained just that. For the nigiri course, my favourites were the toro, salmon, and scallop which was sweet and plump. Next came the aburi set, which featured salmon, saba (mackerel), hotate (scallop), ebi (shrimp), wagyu, and a piece of JaBistro roll. The wagyu was quite thin and underwhelming, and I'm generally not a big fan of mackerel. Normally, I find ebi sushi pretty bland as it's simply cooked shrimp, but they paired it with a house-made mayo that was incredibly delicious when torched and made it one of my top 3 pieces. The other two were the hotate and JaBistro roll, which contained lots of fish (salmon, fresh snow crab, scallop, and tobiko). At this point, we were all quite stuffed but we still had dessert coming. When the panna cotta arrived, we were surprised by the size of it as it was huge, especially for a tasting menu. The smoothness of the dessert was delectable, but the syrup could have been less sweet. For a tasting menu at $88 with fresh fish, it is definitely worth trying! I recommend coming hungry.

Have always been hearing about JaBistro as a great place for more elevated sushi/sashimi offerings and finally had a chance to check them out. Ordered a variety of things: sashimi appetizer, nigiri platter, agedashi, and the jabistroll. Really enjoyed the sashimi and nigiri platters, very fresh and very nicely presented. I think they live up to the reputation of having great sushi. The agedashi was ok but I'd probably avoid their cooked food in favor of the sushi next time. Service was excellent and very attentive. Try to make a reservation if possible as it gets pretty full even on a Monday.

I am so grateful to have been recommended this GEM of a sushi restaurant! I was not sure what I was getting myself into, but walked into the warm vibe, with a very welcoming and attentive server Miu (sorry on the spelling) - I asked her about the Summer Soiree Prix Fixe menu for 145 CAD- she said it is very good but a lot of food---no better understatement has been made! Every course was FANTASTIC and super copious! Delicate flavors, super fresh fish...the surprise dish was the third course- perfectly cooked scallops with the most amazing assembly of accompaniments...I will be dreaming about this dish for a while! No course disappoints ---I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND and suggest you try this amazing and special spot out!

For an amazing omakase tasting in downtown Toronto, this is the spot! You don't have to do omakase here, but I highly recommend it. The price is very reasonable, especially compared to metropolitan cities in the US--$88 for lunch, $125 for dinner. The atmosphere was dimly fun and the staff were very friendly. Don't hestitate to check this spot out if you're looking for a fish fix!

We were looking for a new food place for dinner where we can try a good authentic delicious sushi . So, we decided to visit JaBistro located in Toronto, ON. If you're looking for a phenomenal food / dining experience, look no further than JaBistro. Their menu is a culinary masterpiece, offering an incredible selection of dishes that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff ‍‍‍ is friendly and attentive, making every visit a true pleasure. JaBistro is a lovely place. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city in spite of being in the city . There's an ample parking space around the building. The place has the huge indoor seating arrangements and the seating arrangement is super comfortable and spacious. The staff is really nice, friendly and kept following . The food menu is great and there are many choices to choose from and they also offer quite a lot of small bites options to choose from.Pricing is decent, good value for money and the place is more suitable for a group of people.

after hearing colleague's recommendation,i went here with a friend to celebrate birthday. the place has a very nice interior. spacious yet feels intimate. they have package meal (starter, main, and dessert) and ala carte. we decided to do ala carte. ordered lobster soup, chef sashimi, nigiri, jabistroll, 2 different dessert (the only 2 they have). whoa...sashimi is definitely top notch. very very fresh. very worthy price-quality ratio. i'm not crazy about sahimi, but i truly enjoy it. my friend is sashimi lover and he has experienced eating sashimi in sashimi-only restaurant, but jasbistro has the highest score among all (albeit highest price). jabistroll is very delicious..too delicious...my mouth is watery thinking about it. lobster soup is different.not too fishy.delish. 2 desserts (nougat and some sort of pudding). nougat is ok. pudding is the best. if you are sashimi lover, the package meal is good deal. you will get combination of all of the above (dessert option is only pudding). i am not *crazy-fan* of sashimi(my friend is)...but restaurant require everyone in same table to order the same IF you order package meal. highly recommended!

WOW! We came here for the omakase and we left fulfilled-physically and emotionally. The portions had us physically full, and the delicious flavors had our souls emotionally happy. The lobster miso soup began the dance in our mouth, followed by a wagyu carpaccio or uni ankake chawanmushi (uni with egg custard), then 12 pieces of sashimi, aburi sushi (pressed sushi pieces) and negitoro hand roll, 7 pieces of premium nigiri (including a piece with wagyu and foie gras and a piece with uni), and the ball ended with a final waltz of the panna cotta. Perfection has never been so tasty. Service was exceptional, and the ambiance was on point as that of an exclusive sushi place.

    Jennifer N.

I tried their omakase and it was really good! The food alone is top tier, so fresh and wonderful flavor profiles. The "omakase experience" could use some improving though. I'm used to the chef personally handing over the sushi if you sit at the counter. Instead, the waitress serves you the food. I'm sure there's a reason but I think most people want that authentic japanese experience if they're gunna $$$ on sushi ykno? I also wished there was junmai daiginjo on the menu. Funny enough, my favorite thing was their panna cotta. Best panna cotta I've ever had. I left full which is always a plus. Sometimes sushi doesn't fill me up so I'm glad this place did.

    Omakase

Got lunch omakase here. The price is reasonable. The seafood quality is very good and the taste is good too. I remove one star because of 2 reasons. The lobster miso soup is very salty. The lobster meat is pretty tender though. And there's a fish scale attached to one of the sashimi. Other than these, I would want to come back here again. One thing weird about the omakase here is that the chef didn't explain the dishes. They never talked to me or greeted me even they were right in front of me making food. The waitress did all the servicing. Her service was good though.

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn.
