The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice and it was not too loud even with the place being packed. I ordered the Red Spider roll and it was pretty good. The only thing I wish was that it didn't fall apart that easily when I picked it up. The presentation of the roll was really pretty and since we got seated at the kitchen table, we could see the chefs making all the dishes. There were alot of choices for sushi, noodle dishes and donburi's. It took awhile for the servers to even come with the bill, since we were done for a while and were just sitting at our seats trying to get their attention. Came here based off other reviews and overall I'm pretty happy with my decision. The staff was very friendly and the inside is small but you're not on top of each other and it's not very loud. The food was good, I had 2 speciality rolls and my buddy had a roll...both rolls looked great and were pretty tasty. My only complaint is there was a ton of cucumber inside both of my rolls, it took away from the flavor of the salmon and tuna. read more

I was walking through Toronto and I came across this small but very cozy Japanese restaurant. I loved the vibe, it makes you feel calm, they play relaxing music and that makes you enjoy the place and the food. The service was super good from start to finish. I love the food here! As a vegetarian, my personal favourite is their tofu sizzler! It so yummy! Do note though, their miso soup has fish powder so it isn't vegetarian. I prefer to skip it, but I've heard it's quite yummy so if you're okay with it, do try! Their salad is pretty yummy!! It's usually quite crowded and the seats are a little close by. I've visited since their soft opening, mostly ordering ahead via ritual, but I've dined in a few times. I often find myself coming back over and over again because their service is good, they have great lunch special combos, and most importantly is that the sushi and fish they serve is really fresh. It's reliable in an area that tends to be overpriced for what you get. During my most recent visit, it seemed they closed an hour earlier than they should (or their hours listed online are wrong). They have table seating, booth seating, bar seating where you can watch the chef prepare the fish, and patio seating. A perfect variety depending on your mood and group size. Their washroom is in the basement so this place is unfortunately not accessible. During my visit, most of the recent was empty. Only a quarter of seats filled. Usually when I visit a Japanese restaurant, there's a list of items that I usually try to order. For example, if I see Tako wasabi, it's automatically ordered with no hesitation. I enjoyed their version; it was spicy and definitely had me tearing up. I loved that they served a lot of Nori with it!! Lots of places don't serve enough of it. I also love their chirashi don. I hate when fish reminds me of the sea, and this was fresh without feeling like I was also consuming the ocean. Their sushi rolls are also good. I ordered one of their lobster rolls. The chirash don was $22 (or $19.8 with a cash discount) and included imitation crab and some sort of celery vegetable. Imitation crab is an item expected for grocery stores sushi, not expected in a restaurant part of a 20 dollar dish that should contain "raw fish and seafood", per their own description. The decor consisted mostly of wood and there was a fair amount of space. I did not mind the dim lighting in the space either as it did not detract from the relaxed atmosphere. It replaced another sushi joint which was terrible so glad to see it's been redesigned as something better. While the fish is fresh and a much welcomed addition to decent food on this touristy strip; the price is a bit steep. We ordered the edamame, seaweed salad and salmon and tuna sashimi to start us off. Followed by 3 rolls: spicy salmon lover(which was my fav), unagi with salmon and another one I can't remember (tempura?). While the rolls, service and decor was decent - for the price point I would go elsewhere. So I docked one start just for that. My BF I were struggle to fit the long white plates the bring the rolls out in. Awkward if you order more than 2 plates. While I wasn't disappointed; it was also nothing to write home about. Anyways, one of my friends recommend we have lunch here. If you're going with a large group, make reservations just in case. We were a group of 6 who made res prior to. We are seated promptly. They have a lunch menu as well as their regular menu including a la carte items. The lunch menu also includes miso soup and a salad with it. Most items are under $20 and quite large portions. We ordered Spicy calamari and The fancy lady sushi. Spicy Calamari: Not spicy but very delicious. It was cook nicely so it wasn't rubbery or hard to eat. Plus it wasn't overly battered which was an added bonus. Fancy Lady: Really yummy sushi roll. The tobiko eggs was just the nice touch required. I ordered The Chirash Don lunch options while my friends got the lunch special. If you're really hungry, I strongly recommend the lunch bento special. There's a lot more portions and variety that would be filling. The Chirash Don was really good. The sashimi portions for massive which is an added bonus. I enjoyed the lunch. So we came here for a quick bite before going across the street to watch the Phantom of The Opera which is just a stones throw away. Fairly decent size restaurant on King and John with parking all around street or underground. I found the prices to be okay not overly expensive very reasonably priced. Their food was fresh no weird aftertaste in the sashimi. We mainly ordered special rolls and some blue fin tuna and uni sashimi. There are also some daily drink specials that I forgot to take a picture of so the item and price I forgot but it was a beer and sake special. We had started off with an order of Chicken Karaage, fried tentacles and grilled black cod. The chicken karaage was very crispy lightly battered, juicy and the batter was flavoured which we enjoyed. The fried tentacles same story with the chicken fried to a crisp and moist inside with a flavoured battered. The black cod and veggies were very fresh and bright cooked perfectly for my liking well seasoned loved every bit of it. For the special roll we ordered their black dragon roll which is basically a California roll with the added eel on the top of the roll. We also ordered the spicy crab roll which was good as well. But I mostly enjoyed the blue fin tuna sashimi and uni, both were fresh and we ordered more afterwards. Great place to enjoy a nice meal.
