    Made to order hand rolls
    Anthony F.

Came by for a work lunch and enjoyed it. A little pricey so be ready for that. They have à la carte or combo rolls. Plus other stuff. Service was great and location is a giant bar so everyone can see their meal being made. It's roomy and clean and modern.

Hello Nori is a great spot for yummy handrolls without breaking the bank. They make each roll one at a time, so everything is super fresh. You're seated at a big round communal-ish table with bar seatings, they have a one page menu which keeps things simple perfect for a date or a quick bite. I always get the 6 roll set, which is plenty for most people. It comes with negitoro, yellowtail, king salmon, scallop, snow crab (my favourite), and truffle lobster. It's usually busy but I've never had to wait for a seat. The only downside is the seating, bar stools and a small hook under the table, which isn't ideal for bulky winter jackets. Overall great food and a fun concept, definitely worth a visit.

This sushi roll place is very modern and aesthetic. I love the wooden design. They don't take reservation but it was just a 5mins wait when I was there 7pm on a Friday night. My friend & I ordered the 6-Hand Rolls set menu. My favourite are the snow crab roll and truffle lobster. However, I think the ratio of rice to fish could be slightly adjusted, less rice and more fish. I thought 6 rolls might not be enough, but actually it's more than enough. We were so lucky, the chef mistakenly gave us one extra truffle lobster. For the price, it was ard 40cad per person. It is good to check it out once but I prefer regular sushi place than "hand roll"-specific.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 Food: I have ordered take out from here several times & also dined-in once. For take out I usually get the shrimp oshi when uber eats has the buy 1 get 1free. And then I add a hand roll to it. I've tried the scallops & the king salmon. When I dined-in I had the salmon & shrimp oshi, 3 pieces each & a hand roll of king salmon. For the quality & prices downtown I think it's okay. Food downtown is always going to be more pricey than the burbs but I think Hello Nori is reasonable for the location. I thought the quality is pretty good too. It tasted great to me! Though when I brought 3 co-workers here one of them thought it wasn't that fresh. I go by what my stomach says as it's pretty sensitive. My stomach has never gotten upset eating food here. So it's good in my books. Service: Take out is always ready on time & the presentation is great. They give you chopsticks with your takeout order & a bag as well. Dine-in was nice too. The service was quick. After we ordered we got our food not long after. You can also order more rolls if you find you want more. We did dine-in during the lunch rush & all the seats were taken. There were only two chefs doing the hand rolls at the bar. But in the kitchen I think there were more chefs who did the oshi. Everyone was friendly & polite. Ambiance: The decor is nice. Dark colours with metal accents & wood tones. It's modern-looking. But because it's a hand roll bar it's set up with a large counter and stools at the bar. So you can only talk to the people on either side of you. I wish they had some group tables though. It's a good sized place for downtown. Their washrooms are at the back of the restaurant accessed by a hallway. There are only two single washrooms. I would come here again just because I like their food. It's not a place I would eat every day though because it is a little pricey. When I want oshi & I want to treat myself & I'm in this area this is where I go.

Nori Sushi is a sushi hand roll chain originally from Vancouver. This particular location along York St. and Wellington St. is the chain's second Toronto restaurant (the first is along King St. near Bathurst). The seating and concept of the restaurant is the same as their first. A sushi hand roll bar in a casual atmosphere. It feels like this location has less seating and is smaller compared to their King St. location. I dropped by Nori Sushi on a Sunday shortly after they opened for a solo lunch as I had a $10 coupon to use. Service was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately their matcha machine was down so I couldn't order a particular beverage that I was eyeing on the menu. They do have a few particular specials that are unique to this location like the wagyu salmon oshi. In terms of service I ordered the following items: - 4-hand roll set (negitoro, ora king salmon, snow crab, and spicy shrimp) - $23 - Salmon oshi - $8 - Iced matcha tea - $5 The salmon oshi was great. The staff making the hand rolls made sure that I finished my roll, waited a bit before starting to make my next one. Pacing of the meal was good and I didn't feel rushed. Haven't been to Nori Sushi in a while but my favourites within the 4-hand roll set were the ora king salmon and the snow crab. The rice to filling ratio was perfect for me as well. After I finished my meal I paid at the counter at the back. Overall, this location in the heart of the downtown core is great for a quick meal where the service is fast and friendly. This is the same kind of food and service you would expect from any Hello Nori location!

This location is conveniently located in financially district. I came here on an early Friday evening, and had no issue getting a table right away. People did start coming in more after 6pm though. The concept is the same through all their locations, you order a set or a la carte. Their sets saves you a few dollar, nothing dramatic.

Ok I know it's been a few mi this since I visited this place but as I look back at my food adventures traveling for work and getting fantastic food late night on a weeknight, I have to say it was a great experience from the greeting, to the explanation of each roll (I ordered the 6 sushi set) it was fresh tasty and not drenched with sauces or thick with tooo much rice. Perfect bites. It wasn't overly noisy, the staff were warm and friendly and very helpful as this was my first time. I will hope to be back visiting Toronto soon so I can come back!!! Def a stop I must make when in town!

Very happy that they opened up another Hello Nori location in Toronto, this time closer to my office. It is a fantastic meal for a flexible price point and sure to impress a client, date, or friend. Their hand roll sets go from $23 (4 pieces) to $35 (6 pieces), which is extremely reasonable for the freshness and quality. I've tried their 6 roll option at their other location, and opted for the 4 roll option during my visit to York St. The service was quick and I could witness the freshness before my very eyes! I also appreciate that they offer happy hour from 2:30PM - 5:30PM, meaning I do not need to leave work early to catch a few cheap drinks! Their drink menu is 50% during this time and a $4 Sapporo is always welcome. The only thing I didn't love is that their seating is all bar style, so our group of 7 didn't work great with the layout. I could essentially only talk to the people on my immediate sides. It doesn't seem like big groups are the intended audience for Hello Nori anyways, so next time I'll just come with a smaller group.

Glad I checked this place out! a sushi hand roll bar finally in toronto is so fun! they just opened their second location here. There's lots of seats and they do not take reservations. At the end of your meal you pay at the host station. Super chill ambiance with high ceilings and only bar seating. They give you a menu and checkmark what you want and they have combos or single hand rolls you can get. Fresh sashimi and pressed sushi available as well. 6-HAND ROLL $35 Negitoro 3/10 this had no flavour it blended with the rice couldn't even tell there was negitoro, disappointed. Yellow Tail 7/10 good flavour but nothing mind blowing Ora King Salmon 8.5/10 this was the best and only included in the 6 hand roll combo or you order on side Hokkaido Scallop 5/10 was lacking flavour, so surprised by this. Snow Crab 6/10 good but again nothing special Truffle Lobster 7/10 decent you can taste the truffle! Salmon oshi $8 for 3 prices 9/10 best thing here it was warm and the flavour was immaculate In my opinion, just felt majority of the rolls were lacking flavour and too over priced for what it was. The staff felt kind of cold but did check up on us every once in a while. The lychee zen (non alcoholic drink was sold out because they ran out of matcha but they just opened 2 weeks ago so eh kind of disappointed. The lychee berry cocktail was just okay, loved the huge portion though. 7/10 overall for food and service. Wouldn't come back unless there was a special.

Came here for lunch today with my coworker, the setting is nice with excellent service, they are trying to provide the omakase Japanese vibe. We order the 5 roll combo, fishes are fresh and seaweed is crispy, it's a good lunch. Servers keep checking on you for water, ginger, wasabi refills - great service! Price is definitely on a higher end because of the location, it's an expensive version of maki mart (of course the quality is much better here).

So happy that they opened up another location in Toronto! Great spot to have some nice hand rolls for lunch. Got the 5 hand roll set and really liked the scallop roll! Service was nice and attentive. Restaurant is sushi bar setting but spacious.

The Nori bar has chill vibe with a modern look. Got here close to 945p and it's now 1050p and with one person making a full bar of hand rolls, one at a time to eat person, I've only eaten 3/4 veggie hand rolls and 0/5 fish hand rolls. As hungry as I am, I'm getting full of just avocado and pickled veggies. Definitely not a place to come if you're hungry and in a hurry. The drinks look amazing although I'll have to come back and try some. The staff is super friendly I must say. 11pm I finally got my first yellowtail (happy dance!) 11:15p and finally got all my sushi and had to take half home cuz they close at 11pm lol. Over all it was a simple and good. Nice if you're here to socialize with a friend or date and take your time.

Gem of a place with warm sushi rice and crispy nori. It was great to just stroll in for some fantastic hand rolls served fresh at your seat. Price for their 6 premium rolls was great ($35 CAD at the time of writing). Service was pretty prompt and had no issues with getting a spot right away. Highly recommend for a quick, delicious sushi fix.

Portions are small, so it's best to start with a round of tasting and then pick your favorites. Beef is definitely the star for grilling! I tried everything except beef tongue--everything else was flavorful, nicely cut, balanced fat and lean, and sliced thinly enough to cook in no time. Thicker steaks don't take long either. Pork belly is on the fattier side; it's okay when dipped in sauce and eaten with lettuce. Lamb tends to fall apart and is harder to grill, but the taste is still good. Seafood isn't the best for grilling overall--shrimp and squid are fairly mild, and grilling them dry doesn't make them particularly exciting. Salmon and clams are fine, nothing extraordinary. Among vegetables, zucchini and mushrooms are solid choices, and grilled pineapple is wonderfully sweet--especially delicious.

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.
