After seeing this all over IG, we decided to come here for a bday celebration. It's not your typical izakaya place with skewers though and prices are definitely pricey. There were 5 of us, so we got a bunch of items to try. The premium sashimi platter (salmon was not too fresh), sukiyaki, miso cod (expect 25 mins wait), grilled teriyaki chicken, wagyu carpaccio, wagyu tartare and wagyu nigiri. In terms of portion, the chicken was a bit disappointing. It was basically two pieces of chicken thigh on a big plate. All the wagyu dishes were excellent. For the tartare, it came with some fried shrimp crackers and they would give you more if necessary. The sukiyaki was soothing but a bit on the sweeter side. My fav was the miso cod and yuzu dressing on the side, so it was definitely worth the 25 mins wait. Service was great and restaurant wasn't too loud. Definitely a great place for special occasions / gatherings.

Lucky to be given a table when we walked in impulsively. We ordered what the table next to us did just because it looked so good and we weren't disappointed. We don't live in Toronto but we would definitely eat here again on another trip.

This was a very cozy restaurant. Came for the $55.00 Seafood tasting menu. All the dishes offered were fantastic, even though some was more so than others. All the food was of good quality and nicely presented. The service was very attentive and excellent. The staff was good at providing details of what is being served.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere! We tried different dishes and they were all great! The sashimi and the rolls were stands but the other dishes were great! We also tried one of the sake options, great flavours but slightly on the expensive side. Overall, it was a great experience!

My friend and I tried the Essence tasting menu at Muni, and this is my feedback: At $98 per person, we are sharing this meal that is more appropriate for one person in the case of some of the dishes presented. At other places, we get our own portions. The dishes in this menu: 1. My favorite dish is the hamachi. It was super refreshing. 2. Wagyu Tartare - it was OK. Nothing really stood out. 3. Yuzu Scallops - this was yummy with the yuzu sauce. Too bad we only got 2 pieces. 4. Sashimi - standard fish offered, nothing unique. 5. Whole Lobster Grilled - it was super hard to get the meat out as it was stuck to the shell. 6. Yuzu Miso Black Cod - very enjoyable with the sauce that added to the flavor. 7. Australian Wagyu Striploin - it was cooked to medium rather than medium rare as requested, but still good. Love the different sauces: Yakiniku sauce, apple wafu, pink salt. 8. Zen Harmony cheese cake - yummy dessert, but such a small slice to share. 9. Guava magarita- so good we ordered twice. But for $98, it's not worth it.

went here for a date night and had an amazing time! everything about this place was great - from the service, ambiance to the food! we had the hamachi truffle, crispy salmon temaki, yuzu black miso cod, wagyu brisket noodles, rib eye & crab dumplings. the yuzu black miso cod was so tender, buttery, sweet yet savoury with a beautiful caramelized crust - it was to die for !! the service was great, the servers were attentive. would come again :)

Came on a Tuesday night and tried their meat lover tasting menu which is available Monday-Thursdays. We were pleasantly surprised at how much food it came with for $58 per person (minimum 2 people). The tasting menu has 3 courses - the first 2 courses are seafood based and the last course is the meat platter. My favourite dishes were the X.O tuna, crispy temaki salmon, baby chicken, and bone marrow. My friend really enjoyed the muni crab dumplings. The baby chicken was such a delight because it looks like a regular chicken dish but the flavours were amazing. The interior is really nice - there is lots of seating, 2 private rooms at the back, and a glass window that looks into the kitchen.

Had Dinner at Muni Robata. Here's everything we ordered: Hamachi Truffle Yuzu Scallops A5 JP Wagyu Tataki East Coast Oysters Jp A5 Wagyu Foie Gras Roll Grilled Australian Striploin Spicy Guava Margarita I highly recommend the Yuzu Scallops & A5 JP Wagyu Tataki. The grilled Australian wagyu and hamachi truffle was a bit under whelming. Overall a pretty good restaurant with great ambiance and good service but a lot of their dishes still need some extra work to really give it that wow factor to bring them up to a 5 star, especially within the price range that they're charging.

Their brunch is amazingly priced at 88$/ person for their premium selection. Unfortunately they reduced their appetizer selection, and the food quality seemed mediocre for "higher end" restaurants. It is definitely better than any typical ayce restaurants, but none of their items amazed to me to come back for their a la carte menu. The wagyu was decent, but I felt like I've had better (Ruth Chris, even cooking my own wagyu from eataly). I will probably not come back unless they bring back more options to their brunch menu.

Homemade crab dumplings, 6pcs with crab dressing $19

For the starter, I ordered the home made crab dumplings. I love crab as they use real crab and how the dumplings are shaped as thin triangles was nice and went well with the sauce. I order the cocktail '75, the main taste was the yuzu sake, not bad. The grilled yuzu miso black cod was phenomenal. I loved it! Nice and thick, piping hot and even without the yuzu sauce tasted so fresh and delicious. Definitely a dish that is good to share and must try. Initially looking at the price for $45, it looks pricy but given the thickness, portion, and the taste is worth it! The fresh giant conch was tasty too except since it's so fresh, the sauce can be less salty to bring out the freshness. I will come back to try other items on the menu!

Great experience at this restaurant! I had the tasting menu and the food was so good, fresh, and tasty. The service was extremely efficient and made the experience so much better. The restaurant is great for team outings or date nights and has cute decor.

The quality of the meat stood out right away--tender, well-marinated, and easy to cook at the table without overthinking it. The short rib and beef slices were probably my favorites, with a really nice balance of flavor and texture. I also appreciated the variety of side dishes. Nothing felt like filler--everything complemented the main dishes nicely, especially the rice and small appetizers that kept things interesting between rounds. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, and the service was attentive considering how busy it gets. It's definitely the kind of place you go with friends, take your time, and enjoy the whole experience. Would come back when I'm craving something fun and reliable.

The beef was my favorite -- thin, tender, and cooked just right. Pork belly wrapped in lettuce with sauce was tasty, and lamb was a little tricky to grill but still flavorful. Seafood isn't the best for grilling -- shrimp and squid didn't have much flavor, and salmon and clams were okay. Veggies were solid though -- zucchini and mushrooms were cooked just right, and the grilled pineapple was sweet and delicious. Edamame was fine, takoyaki mostly batter but cute and tasty. Desserts were adorable -- caramel pudding, coconut, and banana popsicles were fun to try. The vibe is cozy but lively, perfect for couples. Grilling together was actually really fun -- taking turns, sharing, and coordinating made it feel like a little team activity. Totally enjoyed the experience, and it's a really playful, interactive way to enjoy Japanese BBQ!

What I really liked was that they had 3 options of warm water - Hot, Warm, and room temperature. Instinctively I knew this place cared about the clients digestive health. Though I'm sure if you asked for ice water, they would accommodate (my friend asked for no sauces in her maki roll). The fishes were plated very pretty and because it's sushi of course it tasted good. But I was surprised at the level of wasabi that was plated. Cleared up my sinuses for 30 seconds. The establishment is very clean and bright and a great place to head to if you're in a rush.

While they still do this they now have introduced a mini buffet of sides and desserts. If you order a rice bowl the mini buffet is included. If you only want the mini buffet it's $20.00. Because of this all the prices have gone up. Price range of rice bowls start at 21.00 and go up depending on your toppings. What you can find at the mini buffet: Rice Miso soup Takoyaki Potato Croquettes Salads Variety of pickled vegetables ie: radish, cucumber and kimchi Orange wedges Ice cream - green tea and vanilla Quality of the kimchi, cucumber and radish was disappointing, lacking flavour. Someone at the table went with a chicken karaage donburi and the portion of chicken and rice were very generous. The tempura donburi was a little disappointing. The vegetables included were all root based (pumpkin and sweet potato) with a couple of pieces of mushroom. It would have been nice to have zucchini and broccoli to be included in the mix. Regardless the portion was generous. Not sure the mini buffet is worth it though. So again...not quite a 4 but a little better than a 3.

The space itself leans more modern and clean rather than the typical dark, cozy izakaya vibe, which I actually didn't mind. It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent. The beef fried rice was straightforward but satisfying, one of those dishes that's easy to keep going back to between everything else. Drinks were a nice touch too.. refreshing, nicely presented, and added to the overall experience. Overall, this feels like a solid spot for a casual night out with friends. The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn. If you do try out this place, expect great katsuya.
