The old time charm and neighborly feel I get is always welcomed. The store is organized and clean. Shelves are well stocked. There is a good flow as you walk from aisle to aisle. This is my neighborhood Ace Hardware, and I have always had a great experience whenever I need something. Today, they went above and beyond!I brought in a camping chair because I could not get a stubborn rivet out. Joe back in the tools department was incredibly helpful. He went the extra mile to personally remove the old rivet and install a brand-new one for me. Another gentleman named Mark was also super helpful during the process. Okay. Came here for a propane exchange because it's very close to the house. Jordan and the staff here are friendly and helpful. Prices are a buck or two higher than the place where you chase the orange aprons for service, but I like to support local. I was BLOWN AWAY by the barbecue section here. It's a seeet little secret stash of dry rubs, sauces, and in stock equipment that is mind boggling. I bought some Bone Suckin Dry Rub and can't wait to sprinkle and enjoy. I will definitely be back. 10/24/'24 at 11:30am: I like Ace and I generally have a satisfying experience in all of their stores, but this particular Ace Hardware's staff are a cut above. Specifically Greg, Mark, and the cashier Sarah. Greg and mark helped me get the closest match to some furniture I was restraining, as well as giving me some great advice going forward. Sarah helped me qualify for a coupon and (along with the other 2 cashiers (My apologies for not getting their names) dug for change (the total was a few cents over the $25 I had in cash). Fast, efficient, and incredibly polite and helpful, every time I come here (I don't have the friendliest demeanor but they act unphased = true professionals). When I have time I usually drive farther to this store rather than go someplace closer. read more

I absolutely love this store! They have the friendliest and the most helpful employees. It doesn't matter what you're looking for, There's always a helping hand and a friendly smile. I really can't say the same about the hardware store closest to me. I will drive to this location on Tatum just to avoid the other one on Pinnacle Peak and Scottsdale Road. I am new to the area and had been driving to Home Depot. Through Facebook, I learned of ACE's awesome once sharpening service. It was quick, convenient, only $7 per knife and everyone was welcoming. How great is it to have a store that always seems to have that one little thing you need to finish a project? Lost one of the screws you need to assemble that "easy" Ikea bookcase? They have the size and you don't need to buy a bag full! Need a little thingamajig whose name you don't even know. Describe it to one of the staff and they will show you where it is and how best to use it. I love the helpful staff (never changing expression as I describe my latest DYI catastrophe) and always offering a reasonable solution. And now....they are overwhelmingly Christmas. I went in there with my baby to pick up a few cleaning supplies for the kitchen. As I entered an employee asked if I needed anything, I told him nope I found the aisle already and walked to the aisle. As I'm trying to find one particular product, a male employee comes into the aisle towards the end and just stares at me. He doesn't say anything at all and just stands there like a creep. Not sure what that persons deal is but he made me VERY uncomfortable as he was at the end of the aisle and I was alone with my baby. Management do better and tell some of your employees to stop being creeps especially around women that are alone with their kids! I felt so uncomfortable I don't even want to go back. read more

Unfortunately this Karsten's Ace would not give me a refund on $14.00 worth of shelf clips purchased at another store with a receipt, less than 30 days since purchase and unopened. I asked to speak to a manager, waited 15 minutes for one to come up. he said they were independent and would not honor the Ace refund. Wow! long time Ace customer. I guess it just depends on which one you buy from. would have thought there was a franchise policy but he said no. really poor management and marketing in my opinion. read more

Greetings, I have been a steady customer for the past 7 years. Today a man named John changed that. I went in to ask is a key could be made today, sunday the 30, around 11am. When I went back to the key desk he indicated that that key was not in the computer and thus they could noy copy. All fine up until then. He curtely asked me if I wanted info on a locksmith. Innocently I asked him if he know if that locksmith were ,mobile. He then raised his voice a little and said "how should he know, do I want the info or not!' At this time I am a bit surprised. Before I walked away, in a normal tone, I said to him his "customer service voice needed work". He said "whatever". I turned around and asked him his name. He said "Why, does it matter?" Every time I walk in to this store, there is someone to ask me immediately if I need help finding anything. As someone that knows all too well that finding things in hardware stores can take hours, this is a really nice touch. Par for the course, the selection at this Ace is great and you should walk away a happy customer. I was helped by the most friendly and knowledgeable associate at Ace today. I came in with the idea of wanting to build a flag pole for our college soccer tailgate events. Jim at the store saw me struggling to figure it out and asked how he could help. He had a better idea and basically built it in the store for me while finding every screw, bolt, etc... The big box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot do not provide custom service like this. I will only go to Ace from now on and hope to see Jim again. read more

I have been shopping here for nearly 20 years. At first it was just for some minor parts to repair things at the house, but eventually I would buy a lot of paint and primer and power tools. They have a good selection and some things are actually priced better than the big box store. There are a number of staff who take the time to educate me and I appreciate it, especially Jeff, who is not a painter but knows a lot about painting. Everyone here is so friendly. You are greeted as soon as you walk in the door and there is always someone asking you if you need to find something in particular. On this last visit I accepted their help but they didn't have what I needed and ended up heading over to Home Depot. This isn't the place to find a huge selection of the same item or odd items but for the basics they can't be beat a paint department that lets you get in and out in a flash. Plus they carry pet food and for a special treat a cool selection of unusual sodas by the registers. I really like the employees in this store and obviously the location is great. That is the only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1. My griping has to do with their coupons that they send out. We just moved to the area and received a whole pack of coupons. We went there today and our total bill was $53.00. We had a coupon for $10.00 off of $40.00. We were informed that ONE of our items was on sale, so we couldn't use the coupon. The woman told us to go back and grab more stuff to buy. So we did. But did we end up saving money? Absolutely not. It's not saving money if you're forcing us to go grab more items. News flash--Home Depot takes coupons on sale items. I would LOVE to support this small business, but when there's a Home Depot down the street and its prices are lower and coupons are actually usable, you won't see me at Ace anymore. Karsten's Ace Hardware in Cave Creek offers the most atrocious customer service out there. I've shopped at Ace regularly for the last two years, and in that time I've dealt with countless mistakes at the register (including one occasion that required the assistance of their accountant and took over a week to resolve), expired dog food, and low quality products. The worst offender is Lynn, the "Operations Manager." She is confrontational, aggressive, and unprofessional and should not be working with either customers or other employees. The most recent conflict that prompted me to write this review involved a minor issue over a $13 return. I didn't have the card it was purchased on with me, so rather than explaining she could offer store credit or some other alternative, she responded to the situation with I "tough luck, you can't make this return" while literally shoving my items back toward me. What could have been a minor inconvenience quickly escalated because of her behavior. She was completely condescending to an employee that she was training and created what I would consider a hostile workplace environment. I would love to continue my patronage of Ace, but would not return if this behavior isn't addressed. In the meantime, Lowes and Home Depot will be getting more business. read more

We have been coming in a lot because of the convenience and the well stocked store. Recently on a trip to Prescott we stopped in at the lager store in PV and were told they honor all coupons including ones that were expired. Yesterday a loyalty coupon that was mailed to us expired in Nov and we were told No. I believe that coupons are meant to drive business in and for loyalty. I have been to this hardware store dozens of times and purchased many things of all kinds. I use to take my chainsaws here as its like a mile from our home. They use to have a real good chainsaw mechanic who could rebuild stihl chainsaws from the ground up and was very knowledgeable. Now I call them for a basic part for a saw it takes them 15 mins to get me someone who even knows about chainsaws then he tells me wow that's gonna be real hard to do on that saw ????? Yep that's why i am paying a certified STIHL chainsaw mechanic to do it. Ok store but not sure they should hold the title of Certifed Stihl Dealer. read more

Two walked by me and looked the other way. Finally found the Gorilla Glue, same bottle, one on shelf, one on a hanger. Two different prices? Had quite a list of other item, but alas no help, became flustered and left. What a shame. Went to Home Depot and dropped about $85.00 there. I love the fact that ACE is doing everything possible to look out for the health of their customers as well as their employees in regards to the COVID crisis. They put a hold on returns to limit the amount of items coming and going from the store. Brilliant idea! They even make a point to explain to customers that they will honor all returns at all ACE stores after the 3 week period. At the end of the month, I'm sure there will be an influx of returned items, but I am glad to know they are taking this situation seriously and keeping everyone it's best interests in mind! read more
