Karrikin is my new favorite go to. Amazing drinks and food we have been there twice in the last two weeks. With an always changing menu, you will never get tired of eating their creations. Located in an unassuming location just outside of Marimont, you wouldn't even know a hidden gem of a restaurant/distillery is hidden amongst the warehouses. Although the vibe outside is industrial, Inside is a warm welcoming environment with all the tasty food and drink you can handle! read more

Karrikin is such a great environment for enjoying social time with friends! Spacious, unique drinks - many using their distillery products - and some delicious non-alcoholic options too. Also highly recommend as a location for hosting private events. Great staff to work with that will try to accommodate your special requests to make any event a success. Cannot recommend enough for small social gatherings and for larger events that require an accommodating unique venue. read more

Review is for lunch: A co-worker of mine had said that Karrikin had some stellar lunches, but only open on Fridays for lunch, so we decided to make the trek from Downtown to their location, probably about 15 minute drive or so. We were quite impressed with the decor and make-up and service seemed to be very nice and knowledgeable but we were quite disappointed in the lunch offerings. The small lunch menu was not only small, but most items were unavailable. After paying $20 after tip for a grilled cheese sandwich I'll probably limit my time here to drinks after work. read more

This was my second visit here. I'm glad the menu changes frequently, as we debated going here a few weeks ago and nothing looked like what we were thinking for dinner. Now I know if pork belly is on the menu, I'm IN! It's melt in your mouth delicious. We also had the fireplace chicken which was perfect for a cold, rainy night. As for the drinks, the 2 IPAs are really solid and I loved the keylime spiked spirit. Your best bet is to get a flight so you can sample as many as possible. My only negative, the hostess, she was so soft spoken and couldn't really explain our seating options well. We ended up at the kitchen bar, which was really cool, next time I'll just ask for that. I guess the secret is out on this place, we'll be back for sure. read more

I am so glad that we stopped by and tried this place. Those are without a doubt hands-down the best brussels sprouts I've ever had in my life. And that's saying a lot because I eat brussels sprouts everywhere I go. The pickle deviled eggs were amazing as well. I can't wait to go back and actually try an entrée. You have to check out their food. Hats off to the chef read more

This may be my new favorite place. The Ora gin is delicious, basically what I've always wanted gin to taste like. I bought a bottle and have been enjoying it ever since. While I found the food to be tasty it's nothing special, I've tried nearly half the items on the dinner menu, the fries are my favorite but I'm partial to fries and the trout was perfect and everything was presented beautifully. Also, they try really hard to be locally sourced and seasonal, which I love. The best thing about this place IMO is their effort for sustainability, No plastic, cloth napkins, paperless receipts, they distill their own liquor and brew their own beer. I love it. Keep it like that Karrikin and keep improving in yourself and you will continue to have my business and probably be successful too. read more

What does this place do wrong? Nothing. Spirits are out of this world, food is inventive and crazy delicious, and the reclaimed warehouse-subway-tile-steam-punk-paradise ambiance makes for an incredibly inviting and unique place to spend an evening. At Karrakin, you can feel tucked away from life's concerns. read more

Went here for brunch with family and friends and our dogs. Sat outside. One if owners waited on us. Yummy Bloody Mary and Mimosas to start. All of the spirits made on site. Brunch came fast and hot. We referred grits, home fries, cheese biscuit , ricotta pancakes, egg Goetta sandwich and avocado toast! All were delicious. Highly recommend great inside dining. Super cool atmosphere. read more

Had a great visit. The menu of small plates was pretty large and there was something for everyone. The sliders and baked cheese curds were especially delicious. All the beers were great and you could tell they had a master brewer on staff. The only downside was their distilled spirits. We tried the vodka, rum and a gin. All three had the distinct taste of rubbing alcohol. Having been to other distilleries, this is a beginners mistake. Overall an A minus. read more

Forgot about this place for a long time. My wife and I popped in last night for a snack and a drink. It was a great experience. Friendly greeting at the door, seats at the bar, great service, and good food and drink... The Mazunte marg I had was quite good. A can of something sometimes implies safe and sessionable. Not for this. It comes in at a smooth drinking14% ABV. We will definitely not forget about this place again. We are hoping to add it to a brew bus tour we booked with some friends. read more

Amazing layout! Amazing food! You can have big get togethers. Or even what worked for us with 6. All the couples had their own appetizer. I was skeptical about the Chorizo Mac n cheese but it so yummy. Wish there would have been more for 2 people to share. 3 of us had the meatloaf and it was a great meatloaf. I had cheese grits and shrimp and I made sure I ate every bite. One of the best things is you can get flights. Flights of beers, cocktails, and even sparkling spirits. It is a bit pricey on particular items but worth it. read more

Tried to check it out several times to no avail. Either the place was packed, or we couldn't get reservations until late. Tonight finally panned out. Felt like the month of waiting built too much hype for me. The food was good. Wasn't over the top amazing, but was fresh and pleasant. However, drinks were great! Both I had were smooth and with a wonderful combination of flavors. Service was outstanding! Food came out fast and was fresh. Our waitress was wonderful. Would go back just for her. Overall, it was okay. But to be honest I think I'm being biased because it took so long to even try the place. I'd definitely go back, but maybe just for a snack and drink at the bar. M read more

Went here for the first time Saturday and was extremely impressed! Although the place was packed wall to wall it wasn't hard to get a drink from the bar and eventually find seats in the open seating section. So many creative options for drinks; cocktails, hard sodas, beer, and non alcoholic options. I recommend doing a flight so you can try a little of everything. The cauliflower was THE BEST I've ever had! I didn't know you could make a vegetable taste so good. The cheese curds were ehh, not what you would expect as cheese curds but still a good appetizer. The burger was also amazing and cooked to order, not your typical burger. Definitely will be going back soon. read more

I was very excited to try this place after hearing positive things but I guess there is a reason why I hadn't heard about it or been there. Atmosphere was nice, large open space, bar lounge area, it looked like a lot of people were enjoying themselves. We were meeting people who already had a table and we wanted to try a few things so we ordered the Brussel Sprout salad, Scallops (comes with 2 medium sized) and Mushroom Risotto. Our server seemed a little scattered, I wish she was more knowledgeable with the menu and came back to check on us for drinks. As for the food, I love Brussel Sprouts but did not like the Brussel Sprout salad. I feel like it was very "overdressed" with the ranch and rye croutons - rye flavor was overpowering and I could only have a few bites. The Scallops were cooked perfectly but the accompaniments weren't memorable and flavors didn't mesh well. The Risotto wasn't horrible but it's definitely not how the server described - she referred to it as being a little gummier than a regular risotto instead she should've said it's more of a couscous/quinoa texture blend. It was edible. Three others in our group weren't thrilled with their food either. One got the risotto she had the same confused look that I did and asked if I thought it tasted weird; another had the burger which he said was just okay and the last guy the one that had been here before and had supposedly amazing short ribs before was most disappointed with his meal. He wanted to receive what he got last time which I think was a large piece of short rib meat and a cauliflower purée or some starch he couldn't remember. What he received this time was a Korean style short rib and not very much meat with bones. No starch and not filling. The French fries that came with it were cold and hard like they had been fried twice. Not a very good 1st experience for the 5 of us and the guy who had come here before and raved about the place. He said I wish the server came back - I would've ordered two more drinks! I don't know if I'll come back to eat, maybe for a drink. Food was pretty but pricey for portion size and not memorable. Overall disappointing, I wanted to like this place, maybe the kitchen just had an off night but service was just as bad. She was nice but didn't know the menu, didn't tell us about the drinks knowing it was our first time there, didn't come back to ask for the two more rounds some of us would've had. I couldn't tell you one drink on your menu, what your known for, the meaning of the restaurant/bar name etc. literally nothing. read more

Ok Karrikin Spirits is about to be one of my regular go tos! I visited yesterday for the first time and loved it! I mistakenly thought it was just a brewery which didn't immediately grab my attention. I saw pictures of the inside and went to their website. They had a full brunch, lunch and dinner menu as well as a full bar with specialty cocktails- they make their own liquor btw. When I finally went, I so surprised at the decor. It is modern with an industrial look, has multiple different seating options, and has a cute, spacious patio. Definitely my style of places to go to! The food and drink were also great. We ordered the salmon and chicken for dinner. They are small, but filling enough to be satisfied. You can also order multiple things and share amongst your group. We ordered a few different cocktails. They were a bit strong at first but mellowed out perfectly. The staff was also great. We had one particular waiter but multiple people checked on us throughout the night. It was just a great, relaxing experience with a classy vibe, which I loved! read more

My husband and I checked this place out on a Saturday night and as we were pulling in we looked at each other and kind of panicked... Was there an event going on that we didn't know about? The large parking lot was packed and we didn't know what to expect. The space is beautiful and they did a great job of highlighting the fact that they distill and brew their own liquor, beer and hard soda. The chandelier was amazing and I want it for my own house. We wanted to eat here but it was a 2 hour wait for a table of 2 and that seemed crazy. It was also extremely crowded... The tall tables in the center were packed. I was also disappointed to see people trying to bring children and babies here... This really isn't a space for kids. We tried cocktails and a flight. You can choose three cocktails, liquor or wine or a flight of liquor alone. The cocktails are VERY STRONG. More of a sipping drink. I tried the Vesper and wasn't a huge fan, but the pilsner was very drinkable. We will try to come back on a day when it's not so crowded to try the food. It looked delicious and we always enjoyed Maribelles, so we want to give this place a shot. read more

The 5 star review of this place is no joke. The pork shoulder was absolutely da bomb. This is a fantastic addition to the Cincinnati "Drinks Scene". Not only is there a focus on providing a little bit of everything for every type of drinker, they've done so with a great product and in an atmosphere that feels comfortable while still reminding your that you're in a distillery (something that I find important). The food is delicous, and keeps to the "small plate" idea, that not only makes it easy to try a few different things, but it keeps the cost down too. I tried a few different spirits (all of them un-aged at this point) as well as the three beers that they had on tp and was impressed with everything. The rum was amazing - probably the best that I've tried around town so far. Don't miss out on Karrikin... well worth a stop, regardless of what your poison might be. read more

Just home from brunch at Karrikin and on the whole I really liked it. The space is beautiful-- expansive and lots of seating choices to choose from. The menu is very interesting and everyone really enjoyed what we ordered. Our group partook in the grilled bologna sandwich, the pimiento cheese sandwich, the biscuits and gravy, vinegar fries and the grilled bread. Micheladas, Bloody Marys and key lime juice were ordered and enjoyed. I made good use of the coffee bar and am pleased to report that it was a good brew-- no cream or sugar needed for this black coffee taker as I've found is often the case at pour-your-own bars. Our only issue was that while Karrikin offers high chairs and was a popular destination for families at brunch time (nearly every other table had kids), there is nothing kid-friendly on the menu. Luckily we'd scoped the menu out beforehand and brought our own snacks but essentially the restaurant missed out on two extra meal purchases because there was nothing for the kiddos. A simple pancake offering would do the trick. Even for adults, sometimes it's enticing to have a sweet brunch anyhow so I could see how a pancake/French toast/ waffle would be a good bet. I'd love for this to be a regular spot but we'll probably keep an eye on the menu to see if it changes before heading back. Lastly the high chairs were too low for the tables. They were useable but we had to keep stopping our bebe from gnawing on the beautiful wood table as it was at mouth height and our friend's' toddler was also barely clearing the table with her chin. I know not everyone has kids or even wants to see kids when out and about but for us these were important considerations. Brunch is a holy institution for me and attending it requires I bring my littles. Service was a little lacking but since it's a new spot I'll give it a pass. I'm eager to see if and how this place evolves! read more

I first learned about Karrikin after tasting a "simple" gin and tonic at an OTR restaurant. That drink caught my attention! So delish the server showed me the bottle (EMERGE) and I had to check out this place! Beautifully decorated for such a giant space - we loved the spaciousness and not feeling at all like you're crammed in next to others. EVERYTHING we ate was so tasty and unique. Vinegar fries - they were made with a different kind of potato it seemed - dense and crisp and hot! I can't remember the dipping sauce but we asked for more. Cheese curds with chorizo jam?? NUMMMM!! And finally, the MOST delish was the lamb with the pickled/charred cukes which were so unique and absolutely divine with the lamb! How do you come up with these combos? I got a cocktail that was a fabulous shade of purple and had their orange peel gin. I liked this gin better than the Emerge and I loved the Emerge. We hope to have time to bring visiting family here because the space is perfect for groups, inviting couches, armchairs and cocktail tables with plenty of elbow room. read more

So first time here. Not impressed. We waited to be seated, like the sign said. No one came to the front to seat anyone and there was a line. Grabbed a spot at the bar. Then came the worst service. The guy cleaning the area was fast & nice, but the server was terrible. We talked to her a total of 3 times while being here an hour and a half. She walked past us and seemed to be ignoring us. I'm not sure if this was because the place is overcrowded or understaffed. But this was a terrible experience. Drink was ok, but not worth the service. read more

Tried Karrikin after their reopening. I am just trying to understand what they want to be. Their food previously was a little edgy and was better than other bar type establishments. Their current menu just doesn't do it for us. It does not have a lot of choices and not sure you can even find what they stand for. The choices range from burger and fires to gnocchi to walleye. Their cocktail menu continues to under impress. This atmosphere screams for craft cocktails yet nothing is ever craft about them. They don't even serve a mule in a mule glass. They have a handful of beers and my go to is the Citra IPA but really due to no real craft cocktail experience and no bourbon at all. I am not a soda or spiked seltzer fan but they have those choices if that is your thing. We are locals and always came here for the food. I hope the menu continues to expand (and they post it on their website) and they decide to make the experience a little more upscale and crafty. Only then can we become steady regulars again. So much potential. read more

My hubby and I decided to come here as a last minute decision because of the Yelp reviews, and we were pleasantly surprised! It was a Saturday night and the parking lot was packed! There is additional parking in the back, where we snagged a spot. There is a hostess stand as you enter the restaurant/distillery, and she was friendly and explained how seating worked. There is a lounge and long tables in the bar area, which are first come first served. Or, we could have been added to the waiting list, but it was 1 1/2 hrs. We decided to walked around and take a look and take our chances. It was packed! In an area to the right of the entrance there is a small waiting area, two half-walls, a dining area that was waiting for a large party of 12, and kegs and the distillery beyond that. We noticed a few people dining on one of the half-walls. There were stools next to the other half-wall, and we asked the hostess if we could sit there and be served. Yes!! The wall was just wide enough to accommodate plates and drinks for the two of us. We enjoyed the beet salad, the trout, and the pork shoulder. The beet salad was pretty big and could have easily served 3 (and maybe 4) people. Nice chunks of beet with tasty fennel on top. The pork was delicious, though the polenta was a little thick. The trout had a beautiful crispy skin! Loved the food here!! I had a gin and tonic; hubby, a double gin on the rocks. They do need more servers considering how busy they are though. read more

Heard of this place through a friend and who highly recommended me checking it out and said the food was amazing/ambiance. Driving up to the place, I had no idea it was that enormous, which is really cool because it can host a lot of people and looks very nice from the outside and inside. I did love the couch sitting and the bar area where you can mingle and lots of space. It looked fresh and brand new. Why am I giving it 3 stars? Well for a few reasons. I honestly did not enjoy the food all that much... somebody mentioned that they have changed their menu, and if they did, I wasn't a fan and I tried 4 different things of the menu (brussel sprouts, fries, rissotto, scallops). The flavors weren't right for me. I did not try any of their drinks but they actually looked quite good. Other reason why i was not thrilled with the place was because it is very very loud and it is extremely hard to hear a conversation from the opposite side of the table and we didn't even have that many people. Last but not least, and this might be silly, but to me it is important, when we asked for our check, the waitress hands you this digital machine where it AUTOMATICALLY puts down 18% tip, and if you do not want that, you have to change it manually and 15% tip is not even an option to select. I would highly recommend modifying that. Thanks for reading, go find that Perfect Taste! ;) read more

This place is so cool. They brew all of there own beer, distill there own spirits and serve top quality food from an open kitchen. We came for brunch on Sunday and left fully stuffed. Hospitality is obviously a main focus as everyone was so kind and inviting. You can dine on cozy couches and vintage chairs in the lounge area, regular tables in the dining room or meet up with some friends in the bar area. You can really have any style of dining experience here. We brought our 3yr old daughter and she loved it. My husband got to chill on a couch and watch football while he ate. So we didnt have any issues with him. Lol. We took a couple pics, but were having such a good time, we forgot to take any more. Catherine L. Was our server, and she was very helpful.
