We came for the band Mojo Bone but ate first. Omg. It's a five bar that is nicely clean and decorated. But the food..... It's great best roasted cauliflower even. Had the Parm garlic sauce on it and even the gf liked it. The wings are not breaded and crispy. Everything came out fast n hot and the staff are very friendly. The owner was there and checked up on us. Love place before they had food. Love it move now. Gf also said the French onion soups was great. read more

Crows Nest is one of those westside staples that will always have a place in my heart. I grew up on their fish on Lenten Fridays and it's my mother's and my tradition to go here on Ash Wednesday every year for fish. It might not seem like much to an outsider, but to a westsider, walking through the door to Crows Nest is like coming home. Every patron is laid back, comfortable, having an unpretentiously good time. The bar tenders and staff are nice and accommodating, though when you're there, there isn't much that you need beyond a fish sandwich and a Guinness. And let me tell you, this little Irish pub has the most fantastic Guinness in town. Maybe in Ohio. It is so unparalleled, so smooth, so creamy. Hands down. The. Best. The fish is perfectly breaded, crunchy, hot. Delectable. Not to mention, the fish sandwich is about as big as my head. Fries? Perfect. Hush puppies? You won't find better. The cole slaw? Neither is anyone else. -but- If you want to invent a cool new theme party, this may be the place to start brainstorming. Found in a centuries-old building on the West Side is this rustic tavern, the Crow's Nest. Tables were adorned with nautical maps, windows and ceilings with Irish flags. I didn't know if I should have a hoedown, do an Irish jig, or sing out Yo-ho, but it seems that all three would be vanquishing by the not surprisingly eclectic juke box mix of Kid Rock, then Marvin Gaye, then Kid Rock, and round that out with some Elton John. All. Night. Long. Thank you oh-so much to the regulars for lighting the juke box up like a Christmas tree with every color of the rainbow: red, yellow, blue, and snowflake white. This is another fish-fry restaurant we decided to try since Bridgetown Finer Meats isn't doing theirs this year due to COVID safety precautions. We each got a fish platter and they were delicious, reasonably priced and huge portions! I was only able to eat half of my sandwich (which was delicious cold the next day for lunch!) They provide pickles, tarter sauce and the platters come with fries, another side (we got mac) and hush puppies. I wasn't a huge fan of the hush puppies, but everything else was really yummy. The menu is perfectly suited for anyone but the Goetta balls, Reuben rolls are signature items and a must try! An awesome dive bar located on the West side! This place is the kind of joint full of regulars with a real Irish feel. It's dark, unpretentious, and you can still smell the faint smell of cigarettes from back in the smoking days. The vibe in dive bars is always awesome, and this one is no different. The drinks are SUPER cheap, 5 jack and cokes for $18!!! Be warned, it's in a less than desirable part of town, but there is plenty of free parking and it is pretty centrally located and would be a great place to grab a drink if you are in the area and are not looking for the craft cocktail scene. read more

You have to like a bar where your drink is ready and waiting for you by the time you make it from the door to the bar. But the real reason I haunt this place is the music. Tuesday night Sean Geil of The Tillers has open stage, Thursdays is Artist in Residence series where one local musician is assigned a month and rounds up friends to join in each week. Fridays and Saturdays feature one or two live bands each night. Typically old timey, americana, bluegrass/newgrass or such. Al Scorch and Chicago Farmer usually play here when they're passing through from Chicago. This is also the de facto Whispering Beard Folk Festival headquarters, and if you're into live acoustic music in the Cincy area you know about "The Beard" It's not a fancy place, there are some people not into the music and they can be distracting, but they usually stay on the bar side. The patio outside sees a lot of action from smokers and from pickers. The kitchen has been inactive for a while and is just getting going again, I haven't been there early enough for food since that development. But in the past the fried fish was good! read more

Great fish sandwich, cheap drinks, & excellent bartenders. After I dropped out of college for the second time, this was my bar of choice. I'm from the Westside & I couldn't go in without seeing someone I know, or was related to - which is pretty comfy, truth be told. When I went back to college for the third time, the bar staff was so proud that they bought me a pitcher of Guinness and pitcher of Harp so that we could have a couple half and halves on the house. You can sit out on the patio, drink a few beers and shoot the breeze in a way that is becoming increasingly rare at bars in general. This is a great bar. read more

Close neighborhood bar so really wanted to like it. Went in for their "famous" fish sandwich since they have a board out front that is advertising. We come to find out they are only serving fish on Fridays only, for about 6 hours or so, and only for about 4 weeks during lent. Why advertise your food every day and keep your menu up everywhere online if you refuse to open your kitchen more than 4 days a year? We planned our evening around coming here to try this place out. After they told us they couldn't give us any food, we stayed for a drink. The regulars there (about 4 people at the time) sat at the bar making jokes at the expense of mentally handicapped people and being very loud and disruptive to anyone else there. I'm a pretty laid back person but this place needs some serious help. PS. I don't know if the bathrooms have been cleaned ever. No soap either so I wonder how employees wash hands? read more

I'm not a bar person, so take this with a grain of salt. Despite this, I have been to this bar quite a few times, most of those times 3 years ago. My memory then is that it was a typical hole in the wall bar, which was and is, still true. I went here a week ago, however, and was pretty put off by the loud and inconsistent music played (compliments of a patron run juke box-butt rock and bluegrass we're 'mixed'). We were the only people in the back room, and we asked them to turn the sound down, but it wasn't enough to keep the ambiance from being extrememly distracting. Additionally, I reeked of smoke when I got home despite bars being non-smoking and no one smoking inside here. I think it's probably residual, but it was a bit off putting. The company I went with was good (when I could hear them), but I'm not rushing to head back to Crow's Nest any time soon. I hear the fish sandwich is good, in a typical fried white fish way, so if that interests you, maybe it's worth checking out? Just not my cup of tea, er...place to drink. read more

I love the Crow's Nest- it has a nautical/ Irish theme to it. They have cheap beer and bluegrass/roots music on Saturdays. I recommend the second Saturday of the month to catch The Tillers! I have gotten the fish sandwiches to go before and they are very good! The staff is pretty friendly and they organize the Whispering Beard Folk Festival- so expect a lot of beards. It is a pretty big Westside hangout overall but don't let that hinder you from checking it out. read more

If you were to look up the synonyms of "top notch" in the thesaurus you'd see the names of every bartender that work this establishment. The prices are fantastic and they usually have live music - which is decent. Weather permitting, there are corn hole boards in the back. I haven't had the food yet but I've heard it's pretty good. Where the hell is Nebraska avenue? Where does 8th street start? They intersect on the west side by an old cemetery. The Crow's Nest may look like a little dive bar from the outside, but once you get inside you'll find it's the best dive bar you've ever been in. The servers are all friendly, but don't be deceived by their mountain man looks. Most of them are killer bluegrass musicians, and the music they have in that place every single night will be some of the most boot-stomping fun you've ever had. Even their open mic nights (Tuesdays, if you're looking to go) are more fun than any other place in town. read more

Been a long time since I have eaten here..They are famous for their fish sandwiches. Don't remember because it had been so long. But as far as coming to a bar to drink.. The drinks are cheap. The crowd varies depending on the night. Personally, I am a fan of the Saturday night crowds when they have a live band. Fridays, sometimes the music selection can be really bad unless you feel like pumping the jukebox with money. Other than that it is pretty much a typical cincinnati west sider bar. read more
