Went to their store to look at a used GMC truck , the sale price looked good but it took forever to get a breakdown of the final price , what I had figured was a thousand dollars less then they had . I had my own financing setup but they still kept badgering me about filling out a credit app. I kept telling them I didn't want my credit dinged. Finally when I was going to walk they gave me a breakdown. They wanted $1000 for an alarm system they insisted I had to take , they said the bank required it. For double what's it worth and they will rip you off with a down payment and pretend like their doing you a favor! . The warranty that they sell you only covers what they would like it to cover not what it says on the brochure it covers . We took our car to get fixed at the garage that works with them only to find out its own by family of the people that own that dealer . That same garage does all the repairs on all the cars that the dealers sell they do a quick fix me up and then they sell those cars "like new" they are big Time scammers . After years of buying junkers and riding them until they croaked, I decided that it was time to invest in a newer car. Having been pre-approved through my bank, I don't have great credit and was excited about the chance to reestablish my credit and having a reliable vehicle. The rep I initially worked with was not there. The person who WAS there, Mr. Chavez, was a complete asshole. He didn't have any of the initial information collected from me by the first sales person and was agitated when inquired about the reason. I needed to replace my CA ID, but brought my passport and my roommate; who is licensed to drive. This was a problem that did not come up after my initial visit but after I made the 1.5 hour bus ride to Pacoima with my down payment. I communicated with both the sales rep and the finance managers TWICE. If one of these clowns had said to me, " We cannot process your application using the passport but need a valid CA ID or license". I would have taken steps to get that info before taking two buses to the shitty, desolate town of Pacoima. When I realized that I'd just wasted 2 hours of my life, I was very upset. the response from this crappy, 2nd rate dealership was complete indifference. They didn't give two shits about whether I bought the car or not. The finance manager, Chavez even had the nerve to send a mocking text message to my phone after I'd walked out of the dealership. A real class act. There is a recent NFHA report about racial discrimination at auto dealerships. I am a black woman. The thought occurred to me after this experience. Most likely this group of ball-scratching latino men are just a bunch of assholes but I wonder if that's better or worse? read more

It was a special day for us, when we got there a young man Amir greeted us and we explained him what we are looking for. He was so quick and helpful finding us the exact car my friend was looking for. He also treated us like VIP, he made us laugh, got us a great deal. I found a car online and contacted this dealership to see if the car was on the lot. At first they were helpful and said the car was on the lot and I could have my mechanic take a look at the car. They said they would send a message to confirm that the car was in fact on the lot as I would be driving from Simi Valley to see the car. I received a message stating that the car was there and I could ask for Gustavo the next morning, and if the car was not on the lot, Gustavo would let me know. I got to Karplus and was informed that Gustavo was not there and the car was not on the lot as promised. I was given the run around being told that they did not know why the car was not on the lot. Finally they said the car was taken out for service, but they could not say why the car was being serviced. I will not be coming back to this dealership. I found this dealer at carguru. Yes, first it was sketchy. However, I'm open minded and wanted to check out their inventory. Really great inventory with variety of great vehicle. Of course before visiting i wanted to call to make sure the car i wanted is still available (toyota 4runner). Joel was the person to help me and was able to make everything smooth. Showed me the car once i got there. Car fax was presented right away it was great. Joel made sure that what I'm getting is what i really want. He showed me other cars, although i was already set on the 4runner. He made my FIRST buying experience really good. Once financing comes up i thought to myself, "man this will take long". From reading their reviews here and that Google review place, this bait and switch technique is a common practice. They do similar things when discussing financing. Initially, we were helped by JD over the phone. His politeness towards us during the phone call won us over! We had spoken to other dealers in the area and they were very rude and seemed annoyed by our questions. When we arrived at Karplus, we were met by Joel (JD was already with another customer) and he was very pleasant. The only downside is they didn't have a lot of the cars that I liked from their website. So it is best to call ahead. But I did find end up with one of my choices which was a 2013 Kia Rio. Everything was just as advertised. Joel was patient with us. We were also helped by Lon with the paperwork, terrific guy! Finance managers they have there, from my observations, were very hard working and really helped everyone they met with. Overall, my experience with Karplus was great. Man, all I can say is typical shady dealer... I called on a vehicle last year (October 2016) went and looked at it, found out it was a branded title (lemon law buyback) which is not as bad as salvage but not much better. Today, they still have the same car listed, slightly reduced price from then, but they still aren't disclosing the branded title status! I called and spoke to a different sales guy this time, asked him how long have they have had the vehicle he replied "like a month" so immediately a lie... they want you to come in and waste your time hoping they can pressure you into buying... the vehicle I am talking about is priced about right, if it were clean title! As it is they want about 4K more than it is worth. Buyer beware as always. I was traveling for business and decided to purchase my beautiful 2010 Audi S5. Tony was very easy to work with and was asking if he could be of assistance before I even got out of the car! He literally answer me that unless I was Donald Trump that price was absolutely insane. Now... he could just say no to my offer. Worst dealer I ever experienced. BEWARE!!!! Every stereotype stems from the truth, and these people are exactly why used car salespeople have such a bad reputation...Amir and everyone here are the epitome of what comes to mind when you think of underhanded, dishonest, sleazy used car salespeople! I called yesterday and spoke with Amir about a specific S550 that I saw on their website. He actually seemed like a nice guy, so I drove 40 miles to meet him and look at the car. The first thing I did when I got there as walk around and look for the car I came for, and I saw one similar so I walked up to it, but it was a pile of junk, so I kept looking for the car I came for and couldn't find it. So I asked someone where I can find Amir, and I asked him where the car was that we discussed, and he pointed me back to the pile of junk that I saw when I first got there. The car on their website that we discussed on the phone had 90k miles, beautiful chrome stock rims, and appeared to be in prestige condition...the pile of junk he pointed me to had 103k miles, cheap aftermarket rims, and the buttons on the steering wheel look like someone's lapdog was chewing on them! Here's the kicker: the car I saw on their website and the pile of junk on their lot had the exact same VIN number! Amir's only response was a confused deer-in-the-headlights look, and his "manager" became extremely defensive and told me the "internet on my phone" was wrong, and that he was going to go check the "internet in his office." Interestingly enough, both of our Internets matched, and his only response was "if you don't like the car then don't buy it." That's when I told all of them that they're scum for blatantly lying to get somebody to come to their dealership. On my way out, I saw what appeared to be a very nice couple that was about to be taken advantage of by these crooks, and so I warned them that they're about to be taken advantage of and suggested to them they find a car somewhere else. This upset Amir to the point that he told that couple another lie: he had the nerve to tell them that I told him on the phone that I'm open to any type of Mercedes, and that I'm just upset because we couldn't make a deal happen! He couldn't even be honest about why I was upset! The business model for Karplus Warehouse Inc. in Pacoima is based upon misleading advertising at best and false advertising at worst. They post a slightly below Kelly Blue Book selling price hoping to draw consumers into the business only to ultimately attempt to sell the vehicle at a significantly higher cost. When you purchase a new vehicle from a dealership, you'll purchase a base model and then pay for additional options you desire from the manufacturer (i.e. base model, leather seats w/ heating, 3rd row seating, moonroof, etc.) and the manufacturer will customize the vehicle to your requirements for an additional fee for each option selected. This business advertises the vehicle for the base price and then mandates that you pay whatever options they decide were installed on the vehicle by the manufacturer and previous owners! THOSE ARE SUNK COSTS UNRELATED TO A USED CAR SALE! This business approach implies that the manufacturer charges Karplus Warehouse Inc. a second time for the overpriced options, and that they had to pay more for the vehicle by the previous owners. This is patently absurd. Say the first owner has an anti-theft system installed by the manufacturer and the second owner replaced the stock rims with aftermarket rims and added a supercharger to the motor. Why should Karplus Warehouse Inc be entitled to tack on fees in excess of the base price for everything that deviates from the base model as if they're extras I chose? I didn't choose an anti-theft system, after market rims, or a supercharger yet they'll add these costs when you're at the site as additional fees. They didn't incur these costs, yet they expect the consumer to do so. These additional fees not only significantly exceed the advertised price, they result in an overpriced (relative to Kelly Blue Book) used car sale. This is the first used car dealer I've seen operate under this business model. read more
