After years of buying junkers and riding them until they croaked, I decided that it was time to invest in a newer car. Having been pre-approved through my bank, I don't have great credit and was excited about the chance to reestablish my credit and having a reliable vehicle. The rep I initially worked with was not there. The person who WAS there, Mr. Chavez, was a complete asshole. He didn't have any of the initial information collected from me by the first sales person and was agitated when inquired about the reason. I needed to replace my CA ID, but brought my passport and my roommate; who is licensed to drive. This was a problem that did not come up after my initial visit but after I made the 1.5 hour bus ride to Pacoima with my down payment. I communicated with both the sales rep and the finance managers TWICE. If one of these clowns had said to me, " We cannot process your application using the passport but need a valid CA ID or license". I would have taken steps to get that info before taking two buses to the shitty, desolate town of Pacoima. When I realized that I'd just wasted 2 hours of my life, I was very upset. the response from this crappy, 2nd rate dealership was complete indifference. They didn't give two shits about whether I bought the car or not. The finance manager, Chavez even had the nerve to send a mocking text message to my phone after I'd walked out of the dealership. A real class act. There is a recent NFHA report about racial discrimination at auto dealerships. I am a black woman. The thought occurred to me after this experience. Most likely this group of ball-scratching latino men are just a bunch of assholes but I wonder if that's better or worse? read more

I was delightfully surprise how awesome this place is. phone conversations with the sales person Juan was all I needed to feel comfortable enough to get on a airplane and pickup a car for my baby girls birthday Juan picked me up from the airport I was in and out of the lot VERY HAPPY the car is perfect everything he told me over the phone he honored the agreement price wise. I tried to get an OTD price from these guys for three days, the fourth salesman finally called me back and told me there would be some BS additional price of about $2500 for their "bonus" LoJack/ELO security system, which you can't decline. I found a car online and contacted this dealership to see if the car was on the lot. At first they were helpful and said the car was on the lot and I could have my mechanic take a look at the car. They said they would send a message to confirm that the car was in fact on the lot as I would be driving from Simi Valley to see the car. I received a message stating that the car was there and I could ask for Gustavo the next morning, and if the car was not on the lot, Gustavo would let me know. I got to Karplus and was informed that Gustavo was not there and the car was not on the lot as promised. I was given the run around being told that they did not know why the car was not on the lot. Finally they said the car was taken out for service, but they could not say why the car was being serviced. I will not be coming back to this dealership. I found this dealer at carguru. Yes, first it was sketchy. However, I'm open minded and wanted to check out their inventory. Really great inventory with variety of great vehicle. Of course before visiting i wanted to call to make sure the car i wanted is still available (toyota 4runner). Joel was the person to help me and was able to make everything smooth. Showed me the car once i got there. Car fax was presented right away it was great. Joel made sure that what I'm getting is what i really want. He showed me other cars, although i was already set on the 4runner. He made my FIRST buying experience really good. Once financing comes up i thought to myself, "man this will take long". They're still in safety check, or being cleaned, or at the warehouse; but they'll be happy to show you these very similar vehicles that are just a few thousand more. Complete bait and switch. From reading their reviews here and that Google review place, this bait and switch technique is a common practice. They do similar things when discussing financing. It's funny that Rey feels the need to reply to my review. I did, in fact, speak to him in the phone the day after I walked off the lot. When I explained the situation to him, his words to me were the exact same as the salesman's, defending the fees. It's not until I posted on yelp that any sort of "miscommunication" was mentioned. It's ok, Rey, you guys do have pretty good cars and prices - my review isn't going to hurt you! Initially, we were helped by JD over the phone. His politeness towards us during the phone call won us over! We had spoken to other dealers in the area and they were very rude and seemed annoyed by our questions. When we arrived at Karplus, we were met by Joel (JD was already with another customer) and he was very pleasant. The only downside is they didn't have a lot of the cars that I liked from their website. So it is best to call ahead. But I did find end up with one of my choices which was a 2013 Kia Rio. Everything was just as advertised. Joel was patient with us. We were also helped by Lon with the paperwork, terrific guy! Finance managers they have there, from my observations, were very hard working and really helped everyone they met with. Overall, my experience with Karplus was great. Man, all I can say is typical shady dealer... I called on a vehicle last year (October 2016) went and looked at it, found out it was a branded title (lemon law buyback) which is not as bad as salvage but not much better. Today, they still have the same car listed, slightly reduced price from then, but they still aren't disclosing the branded title status! I called and spoke to a different sales guy this time, asked him how long have they have had the vehicle he replied "like a month" so immediately a lie... they want you to come in and waste your time hoping they can pressure you into buying... the vehicle I am talking about is priced about right, if it were clean title! As it is they want about 4K more than it is worth. Buyer beware as always. In response to Below: I don't "use yelp" to get back at anyone, this is over a year ago now, I barely use yelp at all, when a business is particularly shady I feel it is a good tool to inform others. I'm a potential buyer and I called to check the availability on a van. Than I offer a price in cash that was 2000 dollars less than the out the door. He literally answer me that unless I was Donald Trump that price was absolutely insane. Now... he could just say no to my offer. Worst dealer I ever experienced. The prices listed do not even cover the optionals of the vehicles! They added couple of thousands dollars for the optional of a cargo van, like what radio and speakers because that was all it had. Every stereotype stems from the truth, and these people are exactly why used car salespeople have such a bad reputation...Amir and everyone here are the epitome of what comes to mind when you think of underhanded, dishonest, sleazy used car salespeople! I called yesterday and spoke with Amir about a specific S550 that I saw on their website. He actually seemed like a nice guy, so I drove 40 miles to meet him and look at the car. The first thing I did when I got there as walk around and look for the car I came for, and I saw one similar so I walked up to it, but it was a pile of junk, so I kept looking for the car I came for and couldn't find it. So I asked someone where I can find Amir, and I asked him where the car was that we discussed, and he pointed me back to the pile of junk that I saw when I first got there. The car on their website that we discussed on the phone had 90k miles, beautiful chrome stock rims, and appeared to be in prestige condition...the pile of junk he pointed me to had 103k miles, cheap aftermarket rims, and the buttons on the steering wheel look like someone's lapdog was chewing on them! Here's the kicker: the car I saw on their website and the pile of junk on their lot had the exact same VIN number! Amir's only response was a confused deer-in-the-headlights look, and his "manager" became extremely defensive and told me the "internet on my phone" was wrong, and that he was going to go check the "internet in his office." Interestingly enough, both of our Internets matched, and his only response was "if you don't like the car then don't buy it." That's when I told all of them that they're scum for blatantly lying to get somebody to come to their dealership. On my way out, I saw what appeared to be a very nice couple that was about to be taken advantage of by these crooks, and so I warned them that they're about to be taken advantage of and suggested to them they find a car somewhere else. This upset Amir to the point that he told that couple another lie: he had the nerve to tell them that I told him on the phone that I'm open to any type of Mercedes, and that I'm just upset because we couldn't make a deal happen! He couldn't even be honest about why I was upset! I was traveling for business and decided to purchase my beautiful 2010 Audi S5. Tony was very easy to work with and was asking if he could be of assistance before I even got out of the car! Lon was also very helpful in purchasing the car. He talked me into getting an extended warranty on the car and initially I thought it was an silly purchase but I'm glad I did in fact buy the warranty. I went here with my girlfriends brother. Knowing a bit about the business of selling cars from my best friend being in it. I was prepared for the shady business used car dealerships can be. - He needed a truck that same day, he found one he liked it was a bit beat up but whatever everything was fine, he choose a truck that he liked and assumed everything about it was fine except for what he could see. 2 hours go by of pricing and financing ( they're getting him excited about the truck making him think he's lucky for getting it whatever it's business right) Here's where the issues started . First thing they did and it's how a lot of used car dealerships do is give us a high APR the banks APR Rate was at-least 5% lower than what they gave us and I knew right off the bat ( one of the was they make a lot of money is by charging a higher APR than what the bank gives them) I understand it's part of the business. But they really shot a bit high on their profits right there. During the end they nearly cut the originally APR in half ( as expected) making the buyer (my gfs brother) feel really good. BUT THEN ONCE THEY MADE HIM FEEL AS IF THEY WERE HOOKING IT UP SOME HOW, AFTER TAKING UP HALF HIS DAY AND WHILE KNOWING HE NEEDED A TRUCK THAT DAY TO BE ABLE TO WORK! THEY LET HIM KNOW THAT IF HAD FRAME DAMAGE!!!!!!! . That's bad business and I can't respect that. If you can then this might be your dealership. UPDATE: There really isn't anything that can be done. I came in on a Friday morning driving 48 miles from Oc because they're website appeared to have decent prices on some trucks that I wanted to buy for my company. I should have read the reviews before hand. I called and inquired if they had a particular truck and the salesman said "Yeah come on in ask for ... and I'd be happy to show you around." So I do that. I pull up to the lot and there is about 8 hungry salesmen taking turns on clients that pull up. I pull up, the salesman points to a parking spot and walks up to the car. I haven't even turned off my car and the guy is standing outside my window. So I get out of the car and say I'm here to see... he replies with "so what kind of car are you looking for" knowing well he wasn't the guy I was looking for. He shows me a couple of trucks and one in particular was advertised on the website for right under 16k, just what I wanted. So I said let's work the numbers. So we sat and he stated that I was wrong and that the truck is 18k and if I had proof that that's what the truck was listed for. Which I did, thank god for technology because I took a screenshot and he quickly apologized. So we're working the numbers and we come to an agreement on a down payment and a monthly payment. I told I would come back tomorrow with my cosigner. He was cool with it. So I drove back the following morning with my cosigner and the script quickly flipped my payment was not only $60 more but also 6 months were added to the lease and they raised the price of the truck on the website even after I put down a 1k deposit. I quickly confronted Guss and he said "I don't remember what we agreed to bro." So I call the manager and he quickly corrected things. I should have walked out the doors. But I end up purchasing the truck. So fast forward 2 weeks and my truck is leaking so much motor oil that it drain 4 quarts in 2 days. I call them and thy told me "I should have got the warranty." I take it to my local dodge dealer and this is what they find is wrong with the truck. Over 2k in necessary repairs. Moral of the story stay away from shady dealers like this one. ***EDIT*** Hey Rey, please don't play games or reply with misleading information to make up for the dishonesty. What does you increasing the price of the vehicle have to do with it the creditor? Haha don't be a ignorant. Don't forget Rey your the guy that deals with the creditor directly, The finance guy just fills in the paperwork and points where to sign. Why did the finance guy need your authorization to bring the price down to the original agreed upon terms? Who is the guys that's messing with the price? The salesman? The finance guy? The creditor or you? Also I was surprised when I went to go pick up my truck today! You know what the dodge service department said? You guys used a sealant to temporarily stop the leak so it wouldn't leak while you try to sell the truck. Which is illegal. It's all documented.
