Nice friendly staff but that's where it ends. My mistake was not checking Karplus out on Yelp after finding the car I wanted on Cars.com. No need to repeat all the posted comments except to say that my experiences are echoed in most of the reviews. Two specifics. The car that I wanted required a battery jump before I could test drive (that's not a problem when a car sits idle for any length of time, but I called ahead so they had plenty of time to make the car ready). I told the salesman what my budgeted OTD (out the door) price was, including a 24 month power train warranty and he got that price approved by his manager. Because I was still waiting on my insurance check, I told them that I would complete the deal in 2 or 3 days when the check was received. All seemed good. I liked the car and the price. 3 days later I called the store and told them I was ready to complete the deal once my repair shop completed their checking of the car.They had 24 hours notice. I knew we were in trouble when they had to wheel out the jumper and when the car quit about 1/4 mile away from the shop. They did noting about the battery or anything else. My shop found several relatively minor issues, some correctable, some not. Then it came time to close the deal. Suddenly the OTD price was increased by almost $1,400. lots of shaking and jiving, just as one expects in dealing with a used car dealer. I was promised a new battery but lots of hedging and dodging about the other stuff. It was becoming clear that I would be on the hook for all post-deal repairs. In other words, these guys weren't interested in customer satisfaction; just in moving vehicles...and did the usual pricing nonsense when they sense the customer is motivated to buy. I walked after about an hour of negotiating, but the phone calls didn't stop for two days. My suggestion is to think long and hard before dealing with a used car dealer like this who doesn't worry about reputation or customer satisfaction. read more

They make the potentially horrific car buying process pretty easy & comfortable! Don't judge a book by it's "cover". They don't have all the bells and whistles like a luxury dealership, but they will take your "challenged" credit and get you approved and into a vehicle if you need it. Downside is, financing is pricey, but we anticipated that =( They have an "as is" policy - you can buy the extended warenty thru a private company, which we did. Anyone who complains their car fell apart after unfortunately didn't pay attention to all of that first. Very kind salesman (James & Renee) and a super thoughtful finance guy (John) who even brought food to my daughter during our few hours there. Can't say enough good things about them! Let me start by saying that a two star rating is "Meh. I've experienced better." It does NOT mean "don't come here under any circumstances." My opinion of this place is based on a comparison of two dealer experiences. Experience #1: Purchased a used car at a Nissan dealership. Of course the sales people were pushy, but I was treated with respect. I purchased a very inexpensive used car but it came with the works. Four brand new tires, a full tank of gas, new wiper blades, fresh oil change, and detailed (even though it was clean to begin with). I didn't have to ask for these things and that car ran like a CHAMP for years. Experience #2: Purchased a far more expensive used car at Karplus Warehouse. The sales people were pushy, but it was nothing I couldn't handle. They are salesmen after all. However my biggest disappointment was that even though my car was not cheap, the dealer sure was! They sold me a car with a quarter tank of gas and refused to fill it up for me. Nothing on the car was really changed because everything it came with was in decent condition. Fluids were okay but not freshly changed. I did get them to clean it but they did a SLOPPY job. So sloppy that I had to clean it again myself when I got home. They couldn't even bother to put the floor mats in the right way they just threw them in the car. Lazy! That said, I am still happy with my car because it was the car that I wanted. Regardless of what extras it came with, it was the car that I wanted. These guys do need serious lesson in customer service though. What may seem like minor details go a long way when it comes to a customer's satisfaction. And as other reviews have stated, you ALWAYS get a car looked at by an independent mechanic! The dealer's job is to inspect the car and make sure it is safe to drive... nothing more. Even if they do see a minor repair that needs to be done, if it isn't critical, they probably won't fix it. It's your responsibility to catch these things before driving a car off the lot. read more

I just came here in the morning to look at a 2008 black corvette that I saw online price was 13,499 so I wanted to go check it out . As I looked at it the guy that helped me not going to say his name cause I mean that's not cool but I asked him what's the price in this vette and told me 17k and I told him but online says 13.5k so what's the deal and he told me "ohhh that's just a price for a person with good credit" . Then I told him I have good credit tho and he tells me oh but I think we can do like 15k with a 2.5k-3k down payment I just laughed and left the dealership and the corvette had a check engine light when he turned the car on for me lol . Here's my experience with Karplus. I went to several car dealers looking for a car and non were able to show me the carfax on the vehicles I liked. I understand that I can see the car but I would still like to know what's the history of the car. My sister told me about this car lot and it was much bigger than I expected. I got to test drive the two cars I was interested in and also they were able to get me the interest rate I was looking for. I called 2 hours before going to this dealer because I was driving from far away to see a particular vehicle, get told on the phone the vehicle is there and available. Explained my situation and they said "not a problem, its here and ready" I make an appointment and drive an hour and a half during rush hour traffic. 41miles each way. I get there and guess what? The boss decided to take that exact vehicle home for the day, and even though they don't close for another hour, hes not willing to bring it back for me to test/check it out. But then Ana went out of her way to reach out to him and let him know that he actually had a left over credit from his gap insurance policy. I am extremely disappointed! I was in a really bad car accident and needed to find a car as fast as possible. I had searched around and Karplus had a car on the lot that fit within my needs. They showed me the Carfax and worked out a financing with me as well as gave me an extended warranty. I was sitting pretty good until my air conditioning went out, during the first month of having my car. I took the car to the place where they said they cover what is under warranty and they fixed it after waiting for 5 hours. 3 weeks went by and then the brakes started to go out, followed by the air conditioning malfunctioning again. I called to make and appointment every day for 6 days straight and was either put on hold and forgotten about or hung up on. They didn't deal with me until I went in there myself and then took my car and dealt with it right then and there, after them lecturing me about how I needed to call and make an appointment. The people working there are extremely difficult and don't take the time to listen and hear what you have to say. I will never go back there or recommend them to anyone. read more

Bought a Ford C-Max Hybrid Energi from here. I found the car searching on multiple sites and called and verified everything about the car and requested the out the door price. (tip: I used edmunds website to request information because if you end up purchasing a car from the dealership, on some cars edmunds offers a $200 gas card and 1yr roadside assistance with proof of purchase, which for me was just a photo of the contract). Though I called on a Saturday and couldn't make it that day, they still held the car for me. I drove from San Diego to Karplus (about 3hrs) and when I got there, they honored the OTD amount given and everything else we spoke about on the phone. I worked with Gus. I liked Gus, he's straight forward and after talking with him for a while, you can hear it in his voice that he takes pride in what he's doing, especially since this is his home town (his mother lives within walking distance of the dealership). Gus was patient while I spent a long time checking over/under/in the car. This was all before Gus took me on the test drive. I didn't see a reason for my better half to take off work to drive up there, so I rented a one-way Enterprise car (they have a site within a 10 minute drive of the dealership). After I'd started the purchase process they needed time to do the paperwork, so I used that time to drop off the rental car. Usually Enterprise will take you back but there were 25 or so people in the rental place waiting, so the agent told me it'd be at least 20 mins before they could take me back. I called Gus and let him know it'd be a little while and he offered to come pick me up and was there in a short period of time. (side note: While waiting I spoke with James Remar (well known for playing Dexter's Dad Harry Morgan and as Butch/Ace from Django Unchained) for a few minutes, nice down to earth guy, he was there getting a rental car for his daughter). When we we got back the paperwork was ready, Allen easily explained all the paperwork and included some humor. By the time the paperwork was complete, the car had been detailed and was waiting to go. I spoke with the owner just before leaving, he verified everything was good with car and he too had a good sense of humor. I'd definitely drive the 3hrs again to buy a car from here. Make sure to ask for Gus, he's straight up honest and respectable. read more

Only giving one star because Orlando was very helpful but other than that, STEER CLEAR OF THIS FLY INFESTED PLACE. As a 23 year old first time car leaser, they got over on me. I left with a 2013 Nissan Juke that SEEMED to be in good condition with no current or previous ssues, but after driving the car for a couple of weeks, I got a bad leak & my hood started to smoke a lot. I took it to a real Nissan dealer for a diagnostic which revealed just how fucked up the vehicle was/could've been if I hadn't stopped driving it immediately & brought it in. I will say, It is in perfect condition NOW thanks to Nissan, however I still think its very fucked on Karplus Warehouse's end. Why would you sell a car to someone without telling them what's really good? It's unsafe, unethical & just flat out wrong. Drive up and talk to Carlos and he got the keys so we could test drive. All within a few minutes. Went inside to pay for it and the finance DEPT was ready for me. Filled the necessary docs for a cash sale and was told I needed a cashiers check. I'm like crap i'll have to come back! Nope. Called ahead they had the 2015 Sedona waiting test drive steering not centered let go of steering pulls slightly to the right. Dings and scratches. $1,500 LoJack added to price I said remove it they said no. I said with tax license and registrations here's my max price. Manager intervened knocked off $700 I said no. Mind you I have pre-approval letter in had from credit union with max amount I'm willing to spend on a used van. They did honor Carfax price and I would have paid out of pocket $550 over loan amount to seal the deal. No deal I walked out their loss. The van also has noticeable dings and scratches that I doubt they would be willing to fix. To me it was a bait and switch. Bait low on Carfax show up and they add lojack. Not the only dealership in town on to the next one. read more
