I'm happy to report that the legacy of Kasper's Hot Dogs lives on at Karmen's in Castro Valley! I was a huge fan of Kasper's Hot Dogs, which was an East Bay institution. I was very sad to learn that the owner decided to retire and close the remaining locations. Thankfully, Carmen (who worked at this CV location) has taken over ownership of the business and is serving the same exact 100% beef hot dogs along with the rest of the menu, including tamales. Btw, I love that she named the restaurant Karmen's with a "K" as a nod to the Kasper Koojoolian family legacy. If you're craving a Chicago style hot dog, I highly recommend you go to Karmen's! At first I was so sad this location was closing (so many Kaspers and Caspers in the Bay Area have closed). However the franchise owner would not sell this location to Carmen who has managed it for many many years and so she kept the location and changed the name to Karmen's. The dogs, nachos, and tamales are still available! Can't wait to keep coming here for years to come! read more
