I hired Dallas Computer Repair Company (a Karls Technology DBA, karlstechnology.com) to set up an eero mesh WiFi system. The technician was unable to complete the setup, and in the process took my printer offline and could not get it working again before he left. When he couldn't get the eero working, he told me the problem was my internet provider (AT&T) and that the eero device itself was defective -- neither was true. I set up the same eero myself afterward, on the same connection, with no issues. Despite the incomplete job and a printer left broken, I was billed $535.25. When I disputed it (Ticket #2296534), I received two form-letter responses insisting billing is based on time on-site regardless of outcome, with no acknowledgment of the incomplete work, broken equipment, or the inaccurate explanation I was given. After this experience I found a consistent pattern of similar complaints about this company across BBB and other review sites -- incomplete visits, full billing regardless of outcome, and unresponsive escalation. I'd recommend getting a clear written scope of "complete" before booking on-site rates with this company. read more

Do not use this company. They came out three times did not fix anything and wanted a total of $700. below is my experience I had Jacob come out two weeks ago and the repairmen came out and spent two hours to diagnose a computer problem on why it was shutting down every 20 minutes. Jacob mentioned I should order some replacement fans and he would be back to fix it. After ordering $100 of replacement fans, he came over and said he fixed it and it would never have any trouble. The very next time I used the computer after he was gone it shut down again at 20 minutes. I called and to send a different to look at it since the previous repairmen said he had fixed the problem, but it was still occurring. I didn't feel like wasting time with someone incompetent at fixing which is why I requested a different person. Today they showed up and said the computer was completely totaled and impossible to fix and sent another bill. after all was said and done they wanted $600 for three visits, plus $100 of supplies ordered and the computer is still broken. do not use that is incapable of fixing read more

I called a place in San Antonio that was NOT Karl's but apparently was a front for them because the emails and receipt had Karl's info. It was one of the worst blatant money scams I have seen in a while. The technician shows up. 20 minutes into the visit, we decide I just need to buy a new computer. I actually ordered it right then. At that point, he should've been packing up, but he sat in the chair on his phone while running a program that we no longer needed because we decided we're not going to keep the computer. At 10 minutes until the hour was up I walked back into the room and he's still sitting in the chair on his phone and tells me he is making notes. What possible notes would he need when we decided I was just going to replace the computer. He walks out of the office and announces we went a minute over so the charge is not $129. It's $160.. I was actually impressed with his gall and of course refused to pay the blatant ripoff attempt.. his name is Dustin and he works out of North San Antonio. Stay away from this guy. It took 10 days to finally respond to repeated phone calls to come back and do warranty repair. When they did show up they charged me again for a problem they should have found on the first call. I asked to talk to a manager about the awful lack of response to my calls. They said "managers don't talk to customers". We booked an appointment online for Saturday at 11:00 AM. The next morning, I called for confirmation, which we never received, and was surprised to hear from the staff that no appointment was found under our name. After I explained that we had booked online, the staff member finally found the reservation but said we couldn't keep the 11 AM slot due to a so-called "system error." Instead, they instructed us to schedule a 4 PM appointment. My daughter was upset -- we had made plans around the original time. When I said I needed to speak with her first, the staff insisted on holding the 4 PM spot and assured me that no cancellation fee would apply because of the system issue, because they required the 24-hour cancellation. I called back just 10 minutes later to cancel, since we had never agreed to 4 PM, and I was told we still had to pay, and the story changed. What followed was even worse: they began pressuring and harassing my daughter, ultimately sending her to a collections center for $187.50--it was a charge we never agreed to, no service, especially when they failed to honor our original 11 AM appointment. Even after admitting the system error, they refused to cancel without charging us and pressured us to hold the 4 PM slot instead. Currently, they are sending her information to the collection office to collect the money from her. Please let me know what your opinion is. In this case. This situation feels like a trap because it involves using technical "errors" to manipulate college students into making payments, twisting words to justify unethical charges, and punishing customers for their mistakes. I would strongly recommend not using this company if it's for anything more than a little Home computer repair or Wi-Fi hook up. I specifically asked for technicians help with a UniFi router and jet stream switch. I needed VLAN set up with firewalls. He basically charged me over $300 for plugging in all the devices. I hired Palm Harbor Computer Repair expecting professional service. Instead, I ended up with a damaged motherboard, half my RAM unusable, and zero follow-up from the company--despite multiple calls and promises to "make it right." He told me my hard drives were throwing errors, so I ran out to buy two new SSDs (over $400 spent). While I was gone, he broke a pin while removing my CPU fan--I saw it happen before I left.
